Breathtaking Bouquet

Have you started to work on a card idea and then relised you used the wrong product. Well, that happened to me yesterday. Have all week been wanting to make this card idea I had and sat down to make it and instead of using the White Embossing Powder I used the Clear Embossing Powder.

So what do you do? Throw it out and start again or go with the flow and work out what to do now. I decided to go with the flow and worked with what I had. So its different to what I was going to do and I think it looks great……What do you think, do you like it?

You may not recognise the the stamp set….this is a sneak peak to what is coming in the new Mini Catalogue. It is an all over floral design stamp and its very big, so don’t be afraid to cut it down to suite your card size.

How did I achieve this look.

Products used:

  • Breathtaking Bouquet- NEW Mini Catalogue*
  • Happy Birthday to You – NEW Sale-a-Bration*
  • Blackberry Bliss cardstock, Card Base- 14.5 x 21cm score at 10.5cm, Card front -12 x 14.5cm
  • Whisper White cardstock,  2.5 10cm, Insert 10 x 14cm
  • Clear Embossing Powder
  • Delicata Golden Glitz
  • Blackberry Bliss Stampin’ Pad
  • VersaMark Ink
  • Embossing Buddy
  • Multi Purpose Glue
  • Dimensionals

* these products will be available 2nd January 2020

Tools used:

  • Stamparatus
  • Heat Gun
  • Trimmer
  • Sponge

What did I do…

  • Place Card front piece in stamparatus, position stamp of top and close plate down so stamp adheres.
  • Wipe card front with Embossing Buddy. Coat stamp with the VersaMark.
  • Sprinkle Clear Embossing Powder over the top of Card front and tip off the excess powder. Heat with heat gun until melted.
  • With a sponge lightly rub over the embossed area with the Delicata Ink- Golden Glitz. Don’t worry if the coverage is not even as this just adds to the texture. Buff card front with a tissue to remove any ink sitting on the embossing.
  • Trim the Card front down to 1o x 14cm
  • Whisper White strip stamp your sentiment in Blackbeyy Bliss, I used the Happy Birthday from the Happy Birthday to You stamps.
  • Gently swipe the edges of Whisper White strip through the Delicata Ink – Golden Glitz – You will need to let this dry before handling.
  • Adhere the card from onto Card Base with Multi Purpose Glue and the Whisper White strip with Dimensionals
  • On inside of card adhere the Whisper White Insert. If you wish you can stamp floral strip down the right hand side of insert before adhering into card. I did this by lining up the cardstock in the Stamparatus so then only the edge was stamped.

I hope you have enjoyed this card and like me, I hope you find that not all mistakes are mistakes but just another idea wanting to get onto paper.

If you have any questions please contact me. All the products except the stamp sets will be listed below and are linked to my On-Line Store.

Dino Days Cards

Look, at what we made in this October card class!

Aren’t these so cute….It was so much fun playing with Dino Days Suite by Stampin’ Up! Found on Page 99 in the Annual Catalogue.

Card # 1.

This Fun Fold card is simple to make. The only stamping is on the front panel and on a panel on the reverse side of the card to write on, the back panel we used the Dinorour Designer Series Paper.

You can find the instructions for this card by clicking HERE.

Card #2.

This card I CASE’ed from Sarahs Stampin Retreat found on Pinterest. This is such a cute Dino stamped in Lovely Lipstick, with Mango Melody spine onto a scrap of Whisper white cardstock. Then cut out using the matching Dino Days Dies. The Birthday sentiment is from Botanical Bliss stamp set and was embossing in White Embossing Powder onto Peacock Blue Cardstock..

Card #3.

New Paper Trimmer by Stampin’ Up!

Papercrafting begins with a beautiful first cut, which means having the right tool for the job is kind of a big deal. Well, do we have the tool for you!

Available to order from the 1st November

Table built using Product Table Builder by The Crafty Owl – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.

What you can do with your off-cuts..

What do you do with all those strips of of cardstock left over from the cards you make?

How do you use them or do you just put them in the bin….

Well I have found a use and a simple one and I am sure that many of you have also thought of this one.

For this card I used A4 Printer Paper and adhered the strips together with snail adhesive before cutting down to the size with the Stitched Rectangle Dies 148551.

Stamp set used is the Everything Amazing Photopolmer 149340 and embossed using the NEW Shimmery White Stampin’ Embossing Powder 149511 and Gold Stampin’ Embossing Powder 109129.

Hint and tips:

  • In using A4 Printer Paper and not cardstock, your not adding extra weight and thickness to your card.
  • Make sure you have your embossing Buddy handy when using the Stampin’ Embossing Powders.
  • Don’t forget to use your Embossing Buddy to remove any static and oils that may hold embossing powder in places you don’t want it.

All products used on this card will be posted below with links to my On-Line Store. Any questions please contact me.

Global Design Project 176 | CASE the Designer

The challenge this week is to CASE a gorgeous card by Steffi Helmschrott from Germany.

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit
When you CASE a project you can take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be the stamp set – the colors, the layout, the theme, the images – whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own.

Make sure you go over to Global Design Project and see all the wonderful projects made by the Design Team and the other entries to this challenge. To help you here is the link…Click HERE!

My Card……

This card I kept very simple using the colour and the embossed circles to be the focus of the card.

The five Stampin’ Up! colours – Melon Mambo, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Pacific Point were all sponged and blended on Whisper White cardstock. Water was sprinkled on the cardstock to lift some of the colour to give more interest to the colours. The Basic Black card base makes the colours ‘POP’.

With white embossing powder I stamped and embossed the smallest circle from Stampin’ Up! Swirly Frames stamp set to mimic the circles on Steffi’s card.

The sentiment is built from words from the ‘Well Said’ Bundle found in the 2019 Occasions Catalogue. Combining both the stamped embossed words and Framelit words together. TIP: Adhere Multipurpose Adhesive sheets to your cardstock before running the framlits through the Big Shot.

Thank you for taking the time to read my blog. If you have any questions, please just ask. All the products used are listed below and are linked back to my On-Line Store.

Animal Outing

Animal Outing by Stampin’ Up!

This was a fun class using the Animal Outing Suite, Animal Outing stamps 146600 (Clear) and Animal Expedition Designer Series Paper 146902.

You can purchase this as a Bundle with the Thinlits – Animal Outing Bundle 148232 (wood) or 148324 (Clear)

The colours are bright and fun and it suites all ages…Yes adults too!

Card in a Box

All the animals were coloured using Stampin’ Up! Blends and fussy cut leaving a 1″ tab on the bottom to attach to the box except for the Giraffe, we lengthen his neck so he could be sat up high above the others. You could use the Thinlits to cut these out but you would need to add a tab on the back so you can attach the animals to the box. The branches are from Petals & More Thinits 145655 and cut from Shaded Spruce cardstock and you will need 4 of these.

How to make the box…

  • Lemon Lime Twist cardstock – 9″ x 6″,  Two x 1⅛” x 3⅛ “
  • Berry Burst cardstock –  Four x 2″ x 2⅝ “, Three x 2″ x 3⅛”, 2″ x 5⅞”
  • Whisper White cardstock – 1⅞” x 5¾”
  • Designer Series Paper (DSP) Lemon Lime Twist – Four x 1⅞” x 2½”
  • Designer Series Paper (DSP)  Birds – Three x 1⅞” x 3″

Score the 9″ x 6″ piece of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock along the 9″ side at 2⅛”, 4¼”, 6⅜” and 8½”. Turn the cardstock so that the 6″ is along the top and score at 2¾”

Score the 2 smaller pieces of Lemon Lime Twist along the 3⅛ side at ½” & 2⅝”.

Use scissors to cut along all score lines stopping at the horizontal score line. Remove the top thin tab and angle the top and bottom of the longer thin tab.(as shown below)

Fold along all the parallel score lines, adhere a stripe to Tear’n’tape along the tab and adhere the sides together to form a box. With the join at the back of your box fold down the front and two sides leaving the back up.

With the two smaller pieces of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock fold along score lines to form a ‘Z’ shape and with Multi-purpose Glue adhere into the top of the box running parallel to the back and front of the box  as shown below. Making sure they are equally spaced.

Now with the box complete it is time to decorate…

The three pieces of Berry Burst cardstock and coordinating – Birds DSP are adhered together and attached to the lower panels of the box. The four Berry Burst panels and coordinating – Lemon Lime Twist DSP are adhered together and attached to the top sides of the folded panels and the inside back panel of the box.

The large piece of Whisper White cardstock is adhered to the large piece of Berry burst and then attached to the back of the box, giving you a panel to write on.

Now its just a matter of decorating with the animals and branches, making sure that when you flatten the box you are keeping close to the boundaries of the box so that it can fit inside an envelope..

Jig-Saw Card

This card is very simple…..

Card base – Crumb Cake Cardstock 8¼” x 5¾” , scored 4⅛

Mat – Pool Party 4″ x 5½”, scrap for banner approx ½” wide  x 1¾”

Designer Series Paper 3¾” x 5¼”

Whisper White cardstock large enough for the kangaroo

Adhere the DSP to the Pool Party Mat making sure there is an all over coverage of glue. As you don’t want the jig-saw pieces to come apart when cut. Place the Puzzle Pieces Thinlits 146830 on top of the adhered mat with approx ¼” around 3 sides and run through the Big Shot 143263. Place the jig-saw pieces into a cellophane bag to go inside the card for the recipient.

Attach the mat to the front of the crumb Cake card base.

Stamp the kangaroo image onto the piece of Whisper White Cardstock using Momento Ink and colour using Stampin’ Up! Blends. Either fussy cut or use the coordinating Thinlits. Stamp your sentiment onto the banner and flag the right side of the banner. Adhere to the card. Use dimensionals on the back of the kangaroo making sure not to put any on his head as this will be sitting over the jig-saw area of the card.

Alligator Card

I will let you work this simple card out…my only suggestion is the sentiment does not need to go where I have put it. It will depend on your Designer Series Paper, I didn’t want to cover up the heads to much and when I cut out the panels on some I have more tails than heads. So just put the sentiment where it looks best.

Thanks for taking time to read my Blog post as I know this has turned out to be a long one, sorry about that….Below you will find links to all the products used at my On-line Store.

Watercolour Flowers using Blended Seasons

Watercolour Flowers using Blended Seasons from Stampin’ Up!

I have played with watercolouring but never been overly happy with what I have done. But the simplicity of the Blended Season stamps (Colour Your Season) makes it so easy and after watching a Youtube video decided to give it ago again. This time I took my time not rushing for that instant finish, but doing it section by section and letting it dry before moving onto the next section. I think this is the key – taking your time, letting the water move the colour and allowing the work dry or settle.

I started with a piece of Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Paper and clear embossed the flower image from the stamp set. The embossing acts like a pool wall allowing the water to fill the area and as long as I didn’t over fill then it didn’t flood. I worked on one petal at a time and with my Aqua Painter covered the petal with clean water. Then picking up a small amount of ink from the ink pad lid I touched the petal at its base and let the water carry the colour around the petal. Cleaning my brush and adding extra water were needed but also keeping some areas white. Just going back and forth adding a little colour at a time on that one petal until I achieved the shading and depth of colour I wanted.

When I moved onto the next petal I missed one and did the next, so then the petal I was working on wasn’t next to one I had just finished. This allows the petal to dry and not getting one petal bleeding into another.

I did the same with the leaves by not working on two leaves next to each other and just going back adding small amounts of colour where needed.

At this point I let it dry before moving on.

I decided I needed to add some shading around the flowers and leaves, so again just working in small sections but this time blending all the sections together. Starting with a watered down ink just worked my way around the area, blending the edges out to nothing so as not to get any harsh lines. Then going back and slowly adding more colour where needed.

The ink pad colours I used where Merry Merlot, Mossy Meadow and Gray Granite….

Only three colours, but the way the water pulls the colour out giving all theses different shades and just going back slowly adding more colour. As the paper drys you have stronger colour in those areas that there wasn’t as much water.

I am so pleased with the way this has turned out and wanted to leave the flowers for all their glory and not cover with a large sentiment. So I found a “Happy Birthday” stamp from the Very Vintage Hostess Rewards Stamp set and embossed it in white embossing powder onto Basic Black cardstock. The water colour paper I doubled matted in in Mossy Meadow and Merry Merlot and attached to a Mossy Meadow Card base.

I’m looking forward to trying this again but maybe without the embossing and giving the “No- line or very light line” watercolouring ago…so stay tuned!

Colour Your Season” is only available to purchase for another 2 Days….so make sure you get yours now or it will be gone -FOREVER!

The watercolour Pencils are NOT part of the bundle..

Love It..Live It..Share It..

Global Design Project 143 – Theme Challenge

We all have things that we love – family, friends, pets, hobbies…

and I think that Stampin’ Up! Mission – Statement of the Heart says it all for us involved in Stampin’ Up!….Global Design Project has asked ‘We would love to see you share what makes you live for stamping and creativity!’

I love doing craft and over the years have done many different types of crafts. There is always one thing that remains with all that I do is ‘I love to share’ …..

To share by giving to others or through teaching what I love.

I also love to do Jigsaw’s….I have done since I was a child doing them on the table-tennis table.

They help me in times I’m stressed and want to just chill out!

This card allows the recipient to put the jigsaw together to find the Birthday message for them.

This card incorporates two of these……making a card which I’m going to send to a family member and a Jigsaw.

How was this card made…..

This could not have been made without the Stamparatus 148187.

Other Products used..

 Healing Hugs 146530

Picture Perfect Birthday 145519

Love You to Pieces Bundle 148396

Both the card base and card front needs to be stamped identically so then the card base becomes the ground for the jigsaw. So by using the Stamparatus and grid paper you can get perfect placement.

Purple Line – Card Base, Blue Line – Card Front

Once the card and card fronts are stamped add mat to back of card front with lots of adhesive to hold it all together.

Position Puzzle Pieces Thinlits Dies onto card Front and attached mat – run through with the Big Shot cutting the jigsaw pieces.

Attach the card front/mat to front of card base matching the stamped images.

A Vellum envelope was made using the Envelope Punch Board 133774 to hold the Jigsaw Pieces.

Thanks for taking the time to read my blog post and I hope you have enjoyed it.

Animal Outing, Global Design Project #142 – Sketch Challenge

It’s been a while since the last Global Design Project Challenge I have participated in….

I have decided to get into it again…

so here it is….

The Global Design Project Challenge this week is a Sketch Challenge #142

To see this challenge and the beautiful cards made by the design team click HERE

For this challenge I decided to use…

Animal Outing from Stampin’ Up!

Animal Outing Clear-Mount Stamp Set 146600Also available in Wood Mount

Watercolour Rhino from Animal Outing

I stamped the Rhino image onto water colour paper using the Stamparatus 148187 making sure the image was clean and crisp by stamping it twice. So easy…knowing I can re-stamp the image getting it perfectly. Then with the Stampin’ Pads and Blender Pens I coloured this cute Rhino using  Smoky Slate, Basic Gray, Petal Pink & Balmy Blue. Finishing it off with the bird in Balmy Blue, Bermuda Bay & Pear Pizzazz.

The Happy Birthday sentiment comes from Very Vintage 146801 (Stampin’ Rewards), stamped in VersaMark, heat embossed with Whisper White Embossing Powder onto Basic Black Cardstock.

The Petal Burst Embossing Folder gives beautiful texture to the Pear Pizzazz cardstock. Two small notches on either side of the card to hold the Linen Thread in place and finished with a bow to the side of the sentiment.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about this card,

all the products used will be listed below with links to my store.
