Masterfully Made – Live with Michele

Today on ‘Live with Michele’ I made a card for the Just Add Ink ‘Sketch’ Challenge using Masterfully Made Suite Collection from the Stampin’ Up!® Annual Catalogue.

Just Add Ink #667

It’s time for the new Just Add Ink Challenge. This week we have a Sketch that has been suggested by Di. There are so many possibilities for how this Sketch can be used. We are looking forward to seeing what you all make of it. Have fun!

I love challenges because they stretch me, take me out of my comfort zone. They are good if your ‘Mojo’ is a bit lost, as it gives you a starting point. You can copy it as is or change some of the elements as per shapes…circles to square. Turn it around so instead of a portrait layout it becomes a landscape layout.

Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and check what the Design Team have created, make sure you also look at the other entries…Better still create a project and add it to the challenge, have fun!

Masterfully Made

You can watch the attached video below to see how I created this card.

The Vellum circles were cut with the Deckled Circle Dies 162286 from the Sept – Dec 2023 Mini Catalogue, these will be available to order from the 6th September.

Colour & Contour – Live with Michele

Today I’m taking part in the Just Add Ink ‘Clean & Simple’ Challenge and I am using Stampin’ Up!® Colour & Contour Stamps and Scalloped Contours Dies from the Annual Catalogue.

Just Add Ink #665

What is Clean & Simple?…Below is the definition by Just Add Ink, for some it’s just “Stamps, Paper, Ink”

What is “Clean & Simple”…Minimal accents and layers, clean colour pallets, nothing overly fussy…Basically the less is more concept!

Others say…there must be ‘White Space, Minimal layers, clean lines and shapes, few embellishments and they must be small, Patterned, Designer, textured, glittered and metallic paper to be kept to an absolute minimum’

Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and check what the Design Team have created, make sure you also look at the other entries….better still create a project and add it to the challenge, have fun!

Colour & Contour

This card I used a very simple design to keep in with the ‘Clean & Simple’ theme….I have a Card Base and a Card front, both in white. The Card Front I added texture by using a mask from the New Abundant Beauty Decorative Masks (available in September to Order) with Smoky Slate.

The card front is adhere to the card base with multi purpose glue, making the two layers as one. You could very easily make this card with out the card front.

The flower image from Colours & Contours is a very simple design but has a beautiful flow to it with the curves lines of the flowers and stem. It is a two step stamp where there is a second stamp to fill in the petals of the flower heads and bud. I used Memento Tuxedo Black to stamp my image and Bubble Bath to colour the petals and bud.

I finished of this card with just 3 Classic Matt Dots.

Cheerful Daisies

Today I’m taking part in the Just Add Ink Colour Challenge and I am using Stampin’ Up!® Cheerful Daisies Bundle from the Annual Catalogue.

Just Add Ink #jai664

“Make a project using the colours in the challenge swatch.

These are such beautiful colours together and very easy to use. They blend well together and give you a soft delicate lacy feel….a modern old world feel!

Make sure you head over to Just Add Ink and check what the Design Team have created, make sure you also look at the other entries….better still create a project and add it to the challenge, have fun!

Cheerful Daisies Bundle

How to make this card…

When creating a card, I like to let it grow…I may have an idea in mind but that doesn’t mean that is how my card will turn out. My layout here is very basic and one that I use a lot ….2 layers on a card base.

My card front or top layer, I like to have a bit of texture. Here I have used the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks & Pool Party Ink to create texture…with the ink darker towards the middle and blending out to nothing around the edges. I also used the Blending brush to add some colour around the edges to take away the stark white of Basic White Cardstock.

The fine detail branches also cut from Basic White Cardstock were coloured with a Blending Brush and Lost Lagoon Ink. I die cut the branches first and then gently run the brush down the branches, taking care not to bend the branches. If you used your brush in a circular motion you could easily damage the die cut. This can also give you more texture as the ink get caught on the edges of the die cut.

The Daisies were stamped onto Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper with VersaMark Ink and embossed with White Embossing Powder. Using a water painter paint your image with water and then add small amounts of diluted (with Water) Fresh Freesia Ink to the center of the flower, letting the ink flow down the petals. Let that dry off before adding more ink and less diluted. The trick with this I have found (through trial and error….lot’s of errors) is to let your work dry off a little before going back with more colour.

Zoo Crew

Welcome to my Blog, this week I have been having fun playing with Zoo Crew by Stampin’ Up!® and I have used the Sketch Challenge by Just Add Ink to inspire me. I also added die cuts from Dainty Delight Dies and the sentiment is from Sending Smiles stamp set.

I coloured my ‘She Leopard’ …LOL, that’s what I’m calling her, using Stampin’ Up!® Water Colour Pencils and blended them using the Stampin’ Blends Colour Lifter.

Because I used the Colour Lifter I was able to stamped my image onto Basic White Cardstock and used Memento Tuxedo Black Ink. If I used water or Blender Pen I would have to change my ink to Stazon and use Watercolor Paper.

Just Add Ink #662…Sketch!

This is great sketch, there is so much you can do with it. just check out the Just Add Ink page to see what the Design Team came up with and what others have also created…maybe even give it a go yourself.

Hues of Happiness

The Hues of Happiness Suite is one of the NEW products coming in the Stampin’ Up! ® Annual Catalogue to be released on the 3rd May.

The suite is made up of Happiness Abounds Stamps, a line drawn rose image that can be stamped and coloured using either Blends,Watercolour Pencils or Inks. There are 8 image stamps and 7 sentiments in a beautiful script font.

The Happiness Abounds Bundle includes the dies, there are 8 dies that match all of the images i the stamps. Then 3 extra dies, one that cuts and embosses a background image and 2 others that cut 2 different edges to look like pages from a spiral bound book.

The colours in the Hues of Happiness Designer Series Paper are stunning, they are bright and vibrant. One side side of the paper has gorgeous rose images and some these can be cut out with the Dies as I have done for my cards. The other side of the papers are just as beautiful. A couple of the pages have small floral prints others are a dry brush look of colour. Both sides of the papers are variegated in colour which gives you a of colours to choose from…It’s hard to explain you just have to see for your self.

To finish the suite off it also comes with beautiful Glossy Dots Assortment, 4 colours of yumminess.

This weeks Live I show how to make these cards using the Hues of Happiness…

Inspiration for this card came from a group on Facebook – Clean and Simple Cardmaking

Just Add Ink- #458

“Now you only have to choose ONE letter! “……The letter I have chosen is ‘Y’ for ‘Yacht’.

This is going to be a interesting challenge to see what everyone comes up with. S To see what the Design Team and other entree’s have done click on the badge above to go ‘Just Add Ink’ Blog.

‘Yacht’

Here’s another ‘Sneak Peak’ to another of the new Suites in the 2019-2020 Annual Stampin’ Up! Catalogue – ‘Come Sail Away’. This suit includes some great products – Sailing Home stamp set, Smooth Sailing Dies, High seas Embossing Folder, Come sail Away Designer Series Paper, Come Sail Away Memories and More Card Pack, Bakers Twine and Sail Away Trinkets.

I know you will love this suite especially if you love the outdoors and the water.

The focus of this card is the oval medallion, which I have distressed to add an aged affect. I did this by –

  • Stamping the Yacht and bird images in Soft Suede Stampin’ Ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock.
  • Cut out the image using the Layering Ovals.
  • Scrunching up the oval into a ball. Gently unfold the oval and sponge Crumb Cake Stampin’ Pad lightly onto the folds.
  • Then stamp the compass image on the oval using the Crumb Cake Stampin’ Pads and making sure that I stamped of some of the ink before stamping.

Thank you for reading my Blog.

How did I use this Sketch…

As I haven’t had a chance to play with any of the new products in Stampin’ Up! 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue, I thought I’d give them ago today.

The stamp set I used is called ‘Free as a Bird’, it’s part of the ‘Bird Ballad Suite’ and aren’t these birds cute? I love them. The suite also has this amazing Designer Series Paper, the designs and colours are stunning. The Nested Label Dies are going to be a must and you will be able to purchase the stamp set and dies as a bundle.

The stamped image I coloured using Stampin’ Up! Blends in the colours – Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Old Olive, Calypso Coral Daffodil Delight and Soft Suede. These colours are the same ones used in the Designer Series Paper.

I hope you have enjoyed reading about my card as much I have enjoyed showing it to you. If you ‘Live in Australia’ and would like a copy of the 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue let me know and I will get one to you.

Just Add Ink #311 Masking

This week the challenge is “MASKING”

The word “Masking ” means to cover with a mask or to conceal.

On my card I have stamped an image on the card and then covered it and stamped again so that I have an overlapping image.

Let me explain this in steps.

Step !. Stamp image onto card stock

IMAG0913

Step 2. Stamp same image on a piece of paper…I like to use a  “Post-it Notes” as this has some sticky on the back to hold it down

IMAG0915

Step 3. Cut out the image on the post-it note staying close to the edge of the image or just on the inside of image.

Step 4. Layer your Post-It Note™ image over the image on your cardstock.

IMAG0914

Step 5.Stamp your second image over your mask.

IMAG0916

This image will appear to be in the background or as I have done here at the

side but coming from behind the first image

IMAG0917

This allows you get two images overlapping without all the added lines you would get if

you just stamped two images on top of each other.

Here is my completed card..

IMAG0897

I love the colours in Hydrangeas, its one of my favorite flowers…

also because they are easy to grow and I usually manage to kill most plants.

I have stamped on to Stampin’ Up! Shimmer paper using Stazon Black and

then water coloured the image with 8 different colours.

Trying to achieve a simlar colours to the ones I used to grown at my back door.

Just Add Ink #310….Sketch!

I really like the sketch that Just Add Ink have given us this week to use…..and

it has given me a chance to do something that I have been plaining for sometime.

Instead of doing a card I thought I would do a Page Layout for my Project Life Album using this

sketch as a part of the layout.

JAISketch_2020

This is one of my favorite photos of me with my son Hayden,

it was taken last year in February when he joined the Navy.

Hayden doesn’t give kisses very often, so this is one of those special moments caught of film.

IMAG0886

The Project Life pages that I did on this event I have done with a Navy theme and

I wanted something that would go with it but aIso wanted something a little softer.

I had used “Night of Navy” in my original pages and the “Night of Navy” colour way of this paper kept

the theme consistent.

IMAG0889

I used the colours from the background paper to make the flowers from the “Botanical Builder Framelit Dies”

Making the Sketch the “Title Element” of my page.

The circle and the flower petals were sponged to soften the look as well as to add dimension.
