This weeks challenge from the Global Design Project Team is a …
“COLOUR CHALLENGE”
and what are the colours they have chosen for us today…
Interesting…not colours I use a lot, but that’s good because it’s a “challenge”.
While I’m making this card I was watching last nights re-run of “My Kitchen Rules”
Did you see it? I’m enjoying this years show but anyway…
as I was putting this card together all I could think of was..
Is it Balanced?
Do I have all the elements?
The same questions the contestant’s where asking of them selves I was asking of me…..and these are also important not just for cooking but for any craft.
Always sit back and look at what you have created, sometimes squinting at it can help- it makes the obvious stick out as being wrong or not quite right. (an embroiders trick)
My card today I have water coloured the flower and leaves on Shimmery White card stock…remember to use Stazon Ink to stamp image……
my first one I didn’t and couldn’t work out why it was bleeding! (silly, silly)
I then “Fussy Cut” my rose and leaves…..but years ago I learn’t a great trick…I use a glass plate and a scalpel (knife).
I have a piece of glass from a picture frame which I have folded masking tape to the edges to make it safe. This allows me to move
the paper freely while folding the scalpel and the blade doesn’t get stuck as it would if using a self-healing mat.
I then went around all the cut edges with a black marker to remove the white.
I balanced my card with a velum banner with the sentiment and some pearls coloured with the Blendabilities I still have.
The banner was adhered to the card with a glue dot under the pearl and under the rose.
The inside of the card I have kept very simple and mounted the Whisper White card stock onto a piece of Smoky Slate and stamped the rose image in
Daffodil Delight.
Hope you enjoy this card as much as I had fun making it.
