Welcome to Butterflys and Bows!
This weeks Global Design Projects Challenge is a colour challenge and we have a free choice an a 4th colour. The 4th colour I have chosen to use is Calypso Coral.
The other day in the post I received my order from Stampin’ Up! and at last I have the “Lift Me Up Bundle”
What a gorgeous Stamp set and Thinlit Dies…the detail in this set is beautiful.
This this card I wanted a sky background and wanted to create it with a water colour wash. So I created a background using a “Smooching Technique”.
Using a piece of window sheet bigger than my card front I added colour with the Stampin’ Write markers. Then spritzed with water until the colour and water was beading. In the past I have only used Water Colour Paper for this but as the Shimmery White Card stock also good with water colouring I wanted to give it ago. So quickly flipping over the window sheet and pressed it to the card stock pressing the colour around until I have the effect I wanted. Carefully pealing of the window sheet I was left with a beautiful soft tone background. With this technique each time you do it you will get different effects. But I was very pleased with what I had achieved.
Even though I had achieved the look I wanted I decided to add a bit more texture to my background and the way I did this was to add some clouds. This was done by using the larger Cloud Thinlit I made a stencil and in Whisper White Craft ink I lightly sponged in a few clouds, I then went over some of them with again with Bermuda Bay on the sponge but only around the edges and only lightly.
Two smaller balloons were stamped onto the card but stamped off so the ink wasn’t in full strength, so that they look like they are in the distance.
The card front is mounted on two thin matts in Bermuda Bay and Peakaboo Peach with the card base in Early Espresso. Inside the a Whisper White insert has a Balloon stamped onto the right hand corner.
Hope you have enjoyed my card…Please leave a comment as I would love to hear your thoughts.
A girl after my own heart! I love the smooching technique and it made a perfect background for this card. Thanks for playing at Global Design Project with us this week and good luck with the guest designer pick.
