On Saturday’s Live with Michele, I created this 6″ x 8″ scrapbook page for my About Me album. As I work on this album, I’m enjoying the challenge of using products from my stash and giving them a new lease on life.

For this layout, I reached for the Secret Garden Collection by Close to My Heart. (now Retired). These products were released by Stampin’ Up!® following the wonderful addition of Close to My Heart demonstrators to our Stampin’ Up! family.

A Page Full of Memories

There’s no photo on this page just yet! The space is waiting for a special photo taken at my Scottish Debutante Ball in May 1980.

I have fond memories of the bouquets we carried, which featured yellow roses, white flowers and tartan ribbon. I wanted to bring those details into my scrapbook layout, even before adding the photo.

Creating My Own Tartan Ribbon

I needed some plaid paper to recreate the look of the tartan ribbon, so I turned to the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper, now retired. The closest pattern I could find was in shades of grey, so I decided to get creative!

Using my Daffodil Delight and Real Red Stampin’ Blends, I coloured the Designer Series Paper to bring in the yellow and red tones I wanted. It was a simple way to customise the paper and create something that suited my memories perfectly.

Adding the Flowers

To finish the page, I used the Secret Garden Dies to cut flowers from Willow White Cardstock. I then coloured the flowers using Daffodil Delight and Golden Glow Ink Pads to create a soft, sunny look.

The leaves and flower stems were die cut from Peaceful Pine Two-Tone Cardstock, adding a lovely contrast to the yellow and white flowers.

The Scalloped Christmas Cheer Dies (current) makes a great frame for the photo and was die cut using White Willow Cardstock.

I love how this page is coming together, especially knowing that the colours and little details will connect with a special memory from my past. Journaling will be added after the photo has been found, yes….it’s lost.
