Balloon Pop-up Box

Tomorrow is my Father’s 80th Birthday…

I won’t get to see him tomorrow but I will at Easter when we head to his place to celebrate his Birthday.

So today I spent the day making him a card to pop into the mail…its running a bit late but I don’t think he will mind once he see’s it.

This is a card I saw earlier this week from another Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator and I loved the “FUN” of the card.

Now I am going to write up some instructions for this card but it will have to wait until Tuesday. As they are a little complicated.

Otherwise look up “Ink Responsibly” as she has done a video on this card.

You may need to watch a couple of times and I did make a prototype before I made the card.

I have added a video below so you can see the finished product as pictures don”t show it to the best advantage.

Ballonpopupboxcard

I have used products from the Party Animal Suite…..

Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits, Party Animal Designer Series Paper, Balloon Adventures Stamps and Emerald Envy Taffeta Ribbon.

I added the Large numbers Framelits, Glimmer Paper, a strip of Vellum plus matching cardstock.

I reason behind the vellum is so you can still see the numbers and I didn’t want printed paper to take away from the balloons.

Here’s a video on the card…

Watercolour Flowers – Colour INKspiration Challenge #CI03

Welcome to my Blog

Thanks for joining me again today, hope you will enjoy my card.

The card I have for you today is a card I have entered into the 3rd Colour INKspiration Challenge #CI03 and this fortnight it is a beach theme.

16508773_10207375924871262_6247849161172652504_nThese colours are so beautiful together,…..can’t you hear the waves crashing on the beach.

For this Card I used a watercolour technique called “Smooching”.

Earlier in the week I did another card with a very simlar technique where I put colour onto an Acrylic block sprayed with water and then placed water colourpaper over the top and pressed down.

The paper was larger than the block so I got a boarder around it. As you can see in the photo below.

IMAG2267

This time it was done a little differently…

To colour my background I had a piece of Window sheet larger than the watercolour paper.

I added colour with the Stampin’ Write markers to the window sheet and spritzed with water, until the water and ink beaded.

Then very carefully and quickly flip over and place onto of the watercolour paper.

Rub the window sheet moving the colour around a little.

I did a practice run on a scrap of watercolour paper to make sure the colours mixed well…you don’t want to end up with “MUD”.

You can’t really see but I used Peakaboo Peach at the bottom and Marina Mist at the top.

Once dry I layered stamps from different stamp sets on top.

In Soft Sky I stamped the ink splatter from Awesomely Artistic..as the Marina Mist has been watered down with the water colouring the Soft Sky shows up.

I had one idea in mind when I started but have ended up with something very different.

This is where my ideas changed ….at this point I decided to add some flowers and I wanted a watercolour look to them.

I used the Penned and painted Stamp set for the flowers. This is a 3 step stamp set but I didn’t used the outline stamps. I wanted a soft watercolour feel.

I inked up the first stamp and stamped off before stamping the first part of my flower and then inked the second part in full strength  I did this with all the flowers and leaves.

Once that was all completed the edges were sponged in the Soft Sky and then in Marina Mist.

The Birthday Sentiment was taken from Balloon Adventures from the Occasions catalogue and Stamped in Soft Suede. the framelit was from the Rose Garden Thinlits and sponged around the edges in soft Sky and marina Mist. With a bit of Bakers Twine wrapped around and the sentiment sitting on top held up with Dimensionals.

The card is in Marina Mist with matting in Peakaboo Peach and Whisper White.

This was a fun card to make and I didn’t have to be a watercolour artist…

Stampin’ Up! did for me.

Who’s your Everyday Hero?

He’s able to leap tall buildings in a single bound..

is it a bird, is it a plane..

No!

Its my EVERYDAY HERO!

Another new stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

“Everyday Hero”

imag1821

This is one of those fun sets..

Your EVERYDAY HERO could be your Dad or your Mum, your brother or sister or it could be a friend. This stamp set covers it all. It gives you 2 different body images (one standing the other flying), a male head or female and as you can see a few background images as well.

This stamp set would be great for a teenagers Birthday…Boy or Girl.

I have added a bit of fun to the card by making it into a spinner card and giving it a “comic” feel.

This is stamp set in another set that will be available on 4th January in the Occasions Catalogue.

Here is a short video of it working, I hope you enjoy.

Just Add Ink #311 Masking

This week the challenge is “MASKING”

The word “Masking ” means to cover with a mask or to conceal.

On my card I have stamped an image on the card and then covered it and stamped again so that I have an overlapping image.

Let me explain this in steps.

Step !. Stamp image onto card stock

IMAG0913

Step 2. Stamp same image on a piece of paper…I like to use a  “Post-it Notes” as this has some sticky on the back to hold it down

IMAG0915

Step 3. Cut out the image on the post-it note staying close to the edge of the image or just on the inside of image.

Step 4. Layer your Post-It Note™ image over the image on your cardstock.

IMAG0914

Step 5.Stamp your second image over your mask.

IMAG0916

This image will appear to be in the background or as I have done here at the

side but coming from behind the first image

IMAG0917

This allows you get two images overlapping without all the added lines you would get if

you just stamped two images on top of each other.

Here is my completed card..

IMAG0897

I love the colours in Hydrangeas, its one of my favorite flowers…

also because they are easy to grow and I usually manage to kill most plants.

I have stamped on to Stampin’ Up! Shimmer paper using Stazon Black and

then water coloured the image with 8 different colours.

Trying to achieve a simlar colours to the ones I used to grown at my back door.

Global Design Project #030 | Sketch Challenge

Global Design Challenge has thrown out there another challenge…..

and its a Sketch Challenge by Teneale Williams.

Did you see the winners from last week…

if you haven’t HERE is the Link

Hope you get a chance to have a look as there were some wonderful cards entered.

Back to this weeks challenge – Sketch Challenge

Sketch Challenge

I decided to use the papers from the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper and

teamed it up with Balloon Celebration Stamp Set and Balloon Bouquet Punch.

IMAG0710

The reverse of the balloon paper is this lovely little spot print,

so I’ve added the Blushing Bride in my matting to add contrast to the Mint Macaron.

The lace Dollie just peeks out between the two boarders in the banner.

The team on Global Design Challenge has asked whats our favorite Challenge.

I don’t think I have a favorite…I like them all. They all tend to make me think…just some

a little harder than others.

This particular one was simple as I knew what range of papers I wanted to use..once i choose what paper

then it just flowed from that.

Go have a look and give Global Design Challenge a go…

its so much FUN!

And that’s what I like is FUN.

I have kept my card very simple by using 3 papers from Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.

138445G

This paper is all in Black and white and can be easily coloured by sponging, braying or spritzing..

IMAG0705

I have decided to sponged my card with Bermuda Bay making the colour strong at the bottom and taking it back to near white at the top.

By mounting it on black makes the intensity of the colour “POP”

Along with a simple sentiment and a couple sequence this card is complete.

“Happy Birthday” with Rose Wonder …..PPA291- Colour Challenge

IMAG0630

Was looking for inspiration for a card and I came across this challenge by Pals Paper Arts and decided to give it ago.

I don’t think I have done much with these colours, which are……..

PPA291-Mar10My mother has a beautiful rose garden and she has a rose near her front door that is a similar colour.

So when I saw these colours they inspired me to use Rose Wonder from the Occasional Catalog.

The rose is such a large design that it fills the card, so there is no need for many elements.

I have embossed the rose with black embossing powder onto water colour paper and them water coloured the paper using the ink pads and Aqua pens.

The banner was also embossed but onto vellum as I like the colour of the design coming through.
