Birthday Eclipse from Stampin’ Up!

Brusho is addictive!

Have you had a play with them as yet?

They can be found in Stampin’ Up!  2018 Occasions Catalogue on page 26 and if you can only purchase one product from this catalogue , then this should be it.

Brusho 144101

Oh! Also check out the great stamp sets on that page, it’s also a must.

Look….. just buy it all, you’ll get free product too! And that’s always good, RIGHT!

FREE PRODUCT!

Yep! You heard right spend $90 (AU) and you can choose a product from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

Not sure how them ask me…and I will help you..SPEND

Opps! I meant to say, I’ll help you place your order……

OK…lets get back to today’s fun card…

SEE!…..I told you it was a fun card.

Besides the colouring technique with Brusho, I also did the Eclipse technique..that is where you cut letters from the design and layer them to sit higher.

Instead of use single letters, I used the Happy Birthday Thinlets 143700. It was like putting together a “JIGSAW”, good thing I like doing jigsaws.

So if you like a bit of a challenge then give this card a go!

Here’s a couple of hints..

  • With the Brush dry each colour before adding the next.
  • Be careful not to loose those tiny little bits you need to glue in..I only lost one and it was the smallest
  • After cutting out Happy Birthday from card front, adhere the card front to matting layer. Place the Happy Birthday back on top and glue in all the little pieces. Making sure to lift the words so they don’t stick down.
  • Cut out 2 extra “Happy Birthday’s” and adhere on top of each other. Then attach the top colourful Happy Birthday on top.

Brusho meets Petal Palette from Stampin’ Up!

From this years Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalogue, I have two favorite products…

Brusho and Petal Passion Suite by Stampin’ Up!.

I love the free form effects you can achieve with Brusho by adding water to the areas you want colour and then add the Brusho and let dry. With this technique you do need to things slowly and let each colour dry before doing the next colour.

So how did I use the Brusho..

  • With a piece of Shimmery White cardstock, clear embossed the image all over
  • Using Aqua painter add water to one bunch of flowers at a time, making sure not to get water on the leaves. Sprinkle Brusho on to the wet area, you may need to add extra water to areas missed or dried to get colour moving. Do this to all flowers.
  • When the flowers are dried brush off any excess Brusho with dry brush. Then repeat process but with the leaves – adding water and Brusho, let dry.
Card …

Card base is Night of Navy, with a layer of Old Olive and the Shimmery White adhered on top.

The Happy Birthday Sentiment comes from the Rose Wonder stamp set and stamped in Night of Navy. This was stamped onto a piece of Shimmery White cardstock and one end flagged.

A twist of Gold thread under the tag held in place with two dimensionals.

Thank you for reading, I hope you like this card and if you have any questions please contact me.

Happy Birthday from Stampin’ Up!

Have you ever had one of those nights that you just couldn’t sleep because you were thinking of all types of ideas and nothing really grabbed you…..well last night I did.

Every Tuesday morning I take a look at Global Design Project to see the winners and the Special Mentions and to see the NEW Challenge….and yesterday was no different.

The Theme for the Challenge is to do a card for a Male and as GDP put it …

“This week we have a theme challenge and it’s all about HIM (isn’t it tho! lol) – you can create for a baby, friend, brother, partner, husband, father, grandfather, son, teacher, coach”

GDP103_Theme_For_Him

Oh…and by the way HERE is the link so you too can go and check out the winners. There’s some really great cards.

Anyway back to me and my bad nights sleep…yesterday I checked out the theme to this week….” Male” cards. I have a house full of boys (as I am the only GIRL, even the cats a boy!)and I hate making “Boy/Male Cards”..WHY? Because I never know what to do…you’d think I’d have it worked out by now with 4 boys, a Husband and a cat…NOPE not me.

So by morning still no idea…..lets check out Pinterest see what the trends are…NOPE nothing is giving me any inspiration.

Oh well…Time for a coffee and to do my next favorite thing…have a look at Facebook and see what everyone is thinking about the world, their family, friends and what they had for dinner last night!

And while on Facebook there “POP’S” up this Advertisement for….gee I’m not really sure what it was for. Because all I saw was these pictures changing and one of them was a Brick Wall with these bright colours sprayed all over it….WOW! That’s it. That’s my card idea!

 IMAG1067a

So…How did I create this card..

It was really very easy and I’m sure you can do it to.

  • Using the Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste, Pattern Party Decorative Masks  and Palette Knives I embossed the brick design onto a piece of Basic Black Cardstock.
  • Wait until the paste is dry before sponging on colour using sponges and Stampin’ Up! Stampin Pads….don’t rub the colour in as if your paste is thick you may rub it of..I pounced the colour on.
  • With Stampin’ Up! Happy Birthday Thinlits Die I cut out 4 colours of the Happy Birthday and using Multi Purpose glue I glued them together off setting each one a little.

Faux Linen with Oh So Eclectic from Stampin’ Up!

I’m still in love with the “Oh So Eclectic” Bundle (145356) by Stampin’ Up! and this week I have teamed it up with a new (for me) technique Faux Linen.

This card I have made as part of the Global Design Project Colour Challenge #97

The Faux Linen technique uses the Stampin’ Up! Glossy White Cardstock 144241 and some sandpaper!

I really like the effect…its a bit like that old linen chair that Grandma had in the lounge, a bit worn and well loved and oh so comfortable……

image showing Oh So Eclectic and Faux linen

Splitcoast Stampers have a great Tutorial HERE and video showing how you to can achieve this effect.

The colours I used in this card are from this weeks GDP Challenge..

Colour INKspiration Challenge – CI09

Hi and Welcome to Butterflys and Bows!

This week I thought I would take up the challenge from INKspirations and enter a card using their colour palette.

18403274_10208041710275481_522555371385139993_nI love the colours that INKspiration give us in their challenges, as they are colours I may never have thought of using together.

The Cherry Cobbler, Dapper Denim and Pool Party are so rich and almost soulful together.

With my card I have tried to keep the richness and depth but also adding some light and playfulness.

IMAG0601

The back ground was so much fun to do. It took a couple of tries to get the effect I want, but once I did I was really pleased with it.

I will try to make a Video of this and post in the coming weeks, as I’m sure its something you could do and have fun with it also.

Hope you have enjoyed my card.

Video Friday – Andrea Walford, Butterfly Thanks

Welcome to Video Friday!

This week I’m sharing with you a video by Andrea Walford – Butterfly Thanks

So who is Andrea Walford?

Andrea is a mixed media artist, writer, online educator, and Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator. She is Christian, married to Todd and has 5 children.

Andrea for a number of years ran the Website “Paper Crafter’s Library” and I used to drool over her beautiful creations when I first started Card-making.

Andrea is a Independent Demonstrator with Stampin’ Up! and shares her creations on her Website and Blog….http://www.andreawalford.com/

As well as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest.

I find Andrea’s cards fresh, bold and exciting.

What does she offer-

Great Tutorials Videos and PDF

On-line classes

E-Newsletter

and great expertise!

The Video I have for you today is…. Butterfly Thanks

I love the way Andrea does her videos, all the instructions are very clear and concise.

This card involved the technique of sponging and blending of the colours, using both Sponge Daubers and Stamping Sponges.

I like seeing the Stamp-a-ma-jig being used even when using the Photopolymer Stamps, as I find this tool still the best way to line everything up. Rather than leaving it to seeing through the stamp, because knowing me I would have problems lining up the stamp with the image causing a double image.

On the Blog not only is there the video but down loadable instructions.

Now, I just had to CASE this beautiful card myself….I love Butterflies and these colours are stunning.

I found this card a fun and easy card to do.

I didn’t have the Sentiment Stamp used on this card so I used one of the Sentiments from “Mixed Boarders”

IMAG0165

I hope you have enjoyed today’s video and please go and have a look at Andrea’s Page….http://www.andreawalford.com/

I know you will enjoy her beautiful cards just as much as I do.

Party Animal Suite

Hi and Welcome to my Blog..

I just wanted to share with you a quick card I just made for a young Boy’s Birthday..

I meet this young man at a market I did recently and his Mum tells me he enjoys making cards.

And this year I’m trying to make cards for people for there Birthdays, so I was really pleased when he said Yes he would love to receive a card from me.

I am using products from the Animal Party Suite, its bright and fun and I think it can be used for any age group. Recently I’ve used it in my fathers card and now in this card for a teenager.

Occ17_p004a

I will also be running a class next week where we will be making this card and a couple of others…

check out my Facebook page to find out more.

Would love to see you there.

Now this card I have  made has been cased from the Occasions Catalogue. It was fun and simple to do.

Remember: Purchase the Stamp set and Thinlits together and receive a 10% discount

birthdayballoons

I have made a few little changes by adding the washi tape and not added the balloon.

Zip Lock Bag Watercolouring – GDP # 076

Welcome back to my Blog..

Yes, I know 2 blogs in one day….pick yourself up……

I’ve been playing!

And I have completed another card for the Global Design project Challenge where we are CASing Kylie Bertucci

GDP076

Tonight I have been playing with a Watercolouring technique I saw on a Facebook Live video by Alisa Tilsner

called “Zip Lock Bag Watercolouring”.

It was a lot of fun and a bit messy but then Alisa did warn it was messy.

Here is what I came up with…I think I still need some practice.

IMAG0014

I’m keeping this short as I need to get some beauty sleep, off to Sydney tomorrow to the craft show at Rosehill Racecourse.

IMAG0017

Its simlar to two other watercolour techniques except this one uses a “Snaplock bag”, Ink and water.

Global Design Project 076 | Case the Designer

Hi and Welcome,

to this weeks challenge from the Global Design Project.

This week we are CASing Kylie Bertucci….

I love the simplicity of her cards, they are always every bold and sticking.

GDP076

Just a reminder or if your new to my Blog here is what CASE means-

CASE a project you can Copy And Selectively Edit – so take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be the stamp set – the colours, the layout, the flowers, whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own.

Here is my CASE of Kylie’s card, I have gone with the design of her card. I love the full length panel, with just a slight trim along the edges. I have added an extra matte to tie the theme of the card together.

The Designer Series Paper and Balloon Adventure Stamp Set comes from the Occasions Catalogue.

I hope you enjoy my card.

IMAG0012

The inside of the card is simple with a Birthday sentiment and Balloon.
