Merry Little Labels from Stampin’ Up!

How many days until Christmas?

Do you know its only 71 days until Christmas…

Wow! Its happening too quick and I haven’t started my shopping yet!

At least I have my Christmas cards started…

let it snow

I love how this card turned out…I love the colours and texture…it has a very rich feel to it.

In the Stampin’ Up! 2017 Holiday Catalogue, Stampin’ Up! have given us a very versatile collection of stamps, Thinlits and Designer Series Paper in the

Merry Little Christmas Suite it starts on page 10 and goes over 4 pages.

I really think this is one of the major highlights to this catalogue.

For this card I used the Merry Little Labels Stamps Wood Mount 144798 or Clear Mount 144795.

It also comes in a Bundle with the Everyday Label Punch…Bundles Wood Mount 146029 or Clear Mount 146030.

This stamp set is great for making Christmas tags for all the wonderful gifts you will be handing out on Christmas Morning…but it is also can be used for cards as well. As I have used it.

This is a simple card and one that doesn’t take long to put together..

So here’s how I made it…

You will require a piece of Cherry Cobbler Cardstock for card base – 14.5 x 21 cm score at 10.5 along the long edge

Another piece of Cherry Cobbler for card front – 9.5 x 13.5cm

Old Olive for matting – 10 x 14cm

Old Olive and Black check from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series paper 144621 – 5 x 10..5cm,

White with black music notes from the Merry Music Specialty Designer Series Paper 144623 – 2.5 x 15cm, punch out the banner ends using Stampin’ Up! Banner Punch on both Designer Series Papers

On a scrap of Whisper White cardstock stamp the “Let it Snow” image in Old Olive Ink and then punch out using the Everyday Label Punch from the Bundle

Colour a small amount of Embossing paste with 2 drops of Old Olive Re-Inker and using the Diamond pattern mask spread the coloured Embossing Paste across the card front. Let dry.

Adhere the Merry Music Specialty DSP to card front folding approx 1.5 – 2cm over the back.

Attach the Cherry Cobbler card front to Old Olive mat and adhere to front of card with either Snail or Multi Purpose Glue.

Attach “Let it Snow” tag to Banner with a couple of Dimensionals and then adhere banner to front of card using the Dimensionals also.

Add a Whisper White piece of cardstock to inside of card for your Christmas message – 10 x 14cm

Well I hope you have enjoyed my little card and love to here if you have given it ago…If you have any questions please contact me at any time

Carols of Christmas…and joy to the world from Stampin’ Up!

One of my favorite songs at Christmas is

‘Joy to the World”

and even though this stamp has been deleted, I couldn’t help but use it along one of the stamps from Carols of Christmas.

Every year Stampin’ Up! give us some of the most wonderful stamps, that are uniquely theirs. In their catalogue you will find every product you will need and they all co-ordinate with each other.

It’s what I love about Stampin’ Up!…

To see Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue and you live in Australia contact me or HERE on my Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator page.

This card I have created as this weeks entry in the Global Design Project 102 | Sketch Challenge

GDP102

IMAG1047

There are a few things I would like to share with you about this card…..

  • Ornament Stamps are from the Carol of Christmas Stamp set 146036
  • As I said before unfortunately the sentiment Joy to the World is no longer a current Stamp.
  • The Black and White Designer Series Paper used on this card is from the soon to be released Holiday Catalogue….can’t wait for that to be available. If you want a copy give me a call and I will get one into the mail to you (only in Australia)
  • The Bakers Twine I have coloured myself..This is a very easy thing to do and doesn’t take much time at all…so

How did I do that..

You will need…Bakers Twine – white, easy to dye

Re-Inker – Old Olive (Stampin’ Up! have re-inkers in all of their colours..see I said they bwere great)

small dish – I used a lid from one of there containers that the buttons come in

Something to stir the ink with – I used a Stylus

Water – small amount

Paper towel and a water proof mat – as this can become messy.

  • Cut a length of Bakers Twine that you require, making sure you have given yourself plenty for shrinkage.
  • Dampen the Twine so that it adsorbs the dye easier
  • Add a few drops of re-inker to container and add a few drops of water and mix…the more water you add the lighter the colour you will get.
  • Wrap twine around a couple of fingers to make a ring of thread – easier to handle and add to ink. I used a stylus to stir the twine and ink around making sure the twine is soaking up the ink
  • Add more ink if you need a darker colour and when happy take up and place on paper towel, pat dry (this is the messy part.) Hang to dry or use your heat gun to dry.

bakerstwine

I did this twice the first one I didn’t add much water so I have a very dark piece of Bakers Twine…the second one (which is the one I used) is lighter and more variegated in colour.

This can also be done with some ribbons…test it first to see if it will take the dye. The Bakers Twine being cotton will dye very well, where as if there is no cotton may not dye. Because this is only going on a card only the dye has not been set, so may run if wet.

Peace on Earth…

Today, my husband and son (No:3) have gone to Campbelltown, the other son(no:4) is at work…so I have the house too myself for a few hours. So I have been having fun playing with new products and different techniques.

The first product I have been playing with is the new Embossing Paste 141979 and Pattern Decorative Masks 144103 that Stampin’ Up! brought out in this years Annual Catalogue. It is so easy and fun to use, make sure you have a look at the great video by Stampin’ Up!  HERE

I ended up making 2 card fronts, one using the medallion mask and another with the diamond mask. I left the paste white and used night of Navy cardstock as my card front. This was then attached to card bases cut from Whisper White Cardstock.

The other is the Carols of Christmas Stamps 144804 from Stampin’ Up!….in this set I used the “Peace on Earth” Stamp and I used three colours to to colour the stamp.

How did I do this....

I started by inking up the top portion of the stamp with the lightest colour. in this case being Flirty Flamingo. Then I inked up the next 2/3’s of stamp with Bermuda Bay. The bottom part of the stamp I inked up with Night of Navy and as Night of Navy is the darkest colour it didn’t matter that I was going over the Bermuda Bay. Using the Bermuda bay Stampin Write Marker I blended the lines a little. A couple of breaths onto the stamp to re-moist the ink again and then stamp onto cardstock.

peaceonearth

Using the largest circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies 145372, I cut out the Peace on Earth with the Big Shot 143263.

Using Flirty Flamingo, Bermuda Bay cardstock and a NEW Designer Series Paper (soon to be released) I layered some banners and adhered to the card front. The Peace on Earth was attached with dimmensionals.

Paper Stars, Christmas Decorations

img_20160925_132923

This is a FUN little Christmas Decoration that I have been making for the past 3 months and selling in a local shop – @Highlands Handmade and they have been very good little sellers. they use up all that left over sheets of Designer Series Paper. Not suitable for card stock as it is too heavy.

I saw this originally on Pinterest as Scandinavian Fabric Stars and thought if it can be done in Fabric …I can do it in Paper. so with a few minor changes here it is.

The Instructions can be found in my Tutorials or Click the link below.

Hello December……Cont

Welcome again to my Blog.

Last week I started working on my Hello December 2016 project Life Album and sharing that with you.

Have you started yours yet?

In my blog last week I stated that “Today I started sorting my cards and planning where I’m going to place them…but I know this will change as I work my way through December.”

imag1761-1

It didn’t take long to start changing things, once I printed some photos. You have to stay flexible if you are doing your album this way…I am following a page plan that was shown to me by another Demonstrator. I like the look of the finished album but I think it would be by far easier to put in you photos first and then your cards as your are working with your photo’s rather against them. Doing it the way I’m doing I’m making the photos fit rather than finding a page that fits the photo.

The recommended steps to follow are.

  1. Place photos into pockets
  2. Put cards into pockets
  3. Journal
  4. Decorate with embellishments

But I’m going to keep going with what I have and see where this takes me.

Tip 3

I always work with “post it notes”…as events happen I write it down and stick to the page where its going. this way when you print your photos you know what page to put them

imag1758

Tip 4

Print your photos as you go…its a lot easier to remember what happened 2-3 days later than 4 weeks down the track.

Tip 5

Stay flexible to move Pocket pages around to suit photos

Global Design Project 065 | Colour Challenge

Good Morning…

Welcome again to my Blog.

Its Global Design Project time again and this week is a

“Colour Challenge”

gdp065

Wow!

What a great colour combination with 2 very strong colours.

As soon as I saw this I knew what I wanted to do and these colours work with this seasons Christmas papers from Candy Cane Lane Designer Series Paper (DSP).

My favorite stamp for this Christmas has to be the Merry Mice…they are just so adorable.

imag1740

This card is a very simple and quick card to put together.

What you require is…

Base – Crumb Cake 10.5 cm x 29.6 cm (1/2 A4 cut length wise), scored 14.8 cm

Early Espresso 10 x 14.4 cm

Candy Cane Lane DSP 9.5 x 13.9 cm

Crumb Cake 5 x 13.5 cm

Real Red 8 x 10 cm

Shimmery White 8 x 10 cm

The little mouse was so easy to do..

  • Stamp image on Shimmery White and using the Early Espresso Ink Pad
  • With the blender pen gentle draw out the colour from the stamped image to give him some highlights
  • Using the Oval Layering Framelits – cut the largest scalloped framelit in the Real Red, then with the size smaller in the straight edge framelit cut out the mouse. This will sit perfectly on top of each other. Adhere these two pieces together, I used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue as gives me the extra movement to get them both in the correct place
  • Use the banner Punch to cut a banner from the Crumb Cake and stamp your sentiment in Early Espresso
  • Layer the Early Espresso cardstock and DSP and adhere to the card front.
  • Glue the banner onto the card lining the top of banner with the top edge of DSP.
  • Add Dimensionals to the back of the mouse and adhere on top of the banner

Anther simple card to be sent to someone special for Christmas.

imag1700

I am doing my album to be a pictorial Journal of all the events that happen throughout December for family and I.

Today I started sorting my cards and planning where I’m going to place them…but I know this will change as I work my way through December.

As we go through this month I will give you up dates on how its coming along and will post a few pictures. I will also add tips along the way of how and why I have done curtain pages.

My first tip is..

Tip 1.

The Hello December 2016 card Collection and the Accessory Pack are part of the Year End Closeout Sale…and its while stock lasts. So don’t leave it too long to order yours. Go to my SHOP here or from the top of page and order directly with Stampin’ Up! You don’t want to miss out.

Tip 2.

Once you have your cards and if you are Memory Keeping by date add your dates (from Accessory Pack) to the 7.6 x 10.2 cm cards that have been printed for this purpose

imag1701

Have added a video to show yow you this great collection.
