Shhhhhh….Don’t tell Aaron! Global Design Project #023
This year my eldest son turns….21!
Wow! a major milestone for him…..and my husband and I survived!
One down and 3 to go!
I’m still trying to sort invitations and venues….then Global Design Project said this weeks challenge was…..
Now Aaron is an outdoor sort of boy, he’s been a Scout and now is a Leader, is a member of RFS- Rural Fire Service and is a diesel mechanic….
what great opportunity to make him a card.
I wanted to do something that had a masculine feel to it.
A CRATE…..with an EXPLOSION of BALLOONS coming out of it…
Had never done a Card in a Box before, this will be interesting!
I stamped my box and extra card stock with the Hardwood stamp and then cut it up to create the reinforced sides of the crate.
The balloons was stamped with Balloon Celebration and highlighted with Wink of Stella- Clear.
The large numbers cut from Glimmer Paper makes them pop out from amongst the balloons.
The Instructions for the box I used the You Tube clip by Tanya Bell.
Global Design Project #022 | Sketch Challenge

and today the Designers have given us a Sketch Challenge.
By the way did you see last weeks winners, weren’t they great! Here’s a link go and have a look…..HERE
Why don’t you give it ago, I would love to see what you come up with.
Just go to Global Design Project..here to make it easy here’s a link HERE
So for this weeks Challenge……
Coming up to Valentines I thought I’d do a card using the Bloomin’ Love Stamp set,
but I wanted it to be a card you could give to a friend and that could be used at other times in the year.
I wanted this card to be soft and pretty….something “GIRLY”
I sponged the floral heart in Mint Macaron and Crisp Cantaloupe (deleted colour).
With a bit of Mint Macaron Lace wraped around the card and a butterfly cut from vellum, with a row of pearls and a touch of gold thread
finishes it of as a beautiful card to give to that special friend on any occasion.
Global Design Project #021 Colour Challenge
This weeks Challenge from Global Design Project is a colour challenge set by Brian King…..
Love the colours he has chosen but I don’t think I have used them together before.
On today’s card I decided to do a water colour wash for the back ground with the three colours.
Starting with the Wisteria Wonder,
next Bermuda Bay and lastly Melon Mambo. I did them in this order because I found through trial and
error that the Melon Mambo was too strong and can be over powering if used too heavily. So by starting with the lighter colour and then adding the stronger colours,
I had more control and could see where I needed to add more.
The ribbon is a piece of Seam Binding Ribbon in Crumb Cake (discontinued colour) and as it wasn’t in the colours I wanted I dyed it using the Ink from the ink pads. Its a messy technique but can be fun to do.
You may have to come to one of my classes to learn a bit more about how I did it.
The beautiful rose came from the NEW Rose Garden Thinlits Die which I cut out in the Wisteria Wonder
A simple tag from cut from Very Vanilla and with the “Thank You” sentiment from “Rose Wonder” stamped in Melon Mambo ink. Tied on with Gold Metallic Thread.
The Rose Garden Thinlits and Rose Wonder stamps are from the Occasional Catalog and can be purchased as a bundle.

Global Design Project #GDP018…..Is in the Air……
Time again for a Global Design Project….
and this week it’s another fantastic sketch made by Teneale Williams!
When I first started out in stampin’ Up! I played around with colour on the “Clear Blocks” and using that as a stamp.
It gives you a “Water colour Background”,I love the different effects you can get.
So I decided for this layout that’s what I would do.
To get this effect you do have to work quickly so have every thing ready…
- Card stock, in this case Shimmery White, it will give that little bit of extra sparkle and will handle the water used.
- Spritzer bottle filled with water
- Stampin’ Write Markers, Blushing Bride, Calypso Coral and Watermellon Wonder..(don’t you love the colour names…I do)
Using the Stampin’ Write markers I coloured in the block starting with the lighter colour at the top
and working down to a darker colour at the bottom.
Then a light spray with the Spritzer onto the block and stamp down onto card stock. I held it there for approx 2 minutes, just to let the colour spread.
Carefully lift the block, you may have a pooling of ink just blot any excess ink with paper towel or tissue.
When dry stamp your image on top…here I embossed the floral heart from “Bloomin’ Love” and embossed with white embossing powder.
Triple mounted…added some pearls and a sentiment just under frames.
Give it ago…would love to hear how you went with this great technique.
Keep on Stampin’ Up!
Global Design Project #GDP017
My first for this year…..Global Design Challenge that is…..
And what is the challenge for this week..
It’s a Colour Challenge!
Now the challenge also asked us not look at the cards done by the designer team.
But because I have left this so late to do I will admit I have seen some of the Designer Team’s cards on Facebook and Pinterest.
So I tried my hardest not to refer back to their beautiful works but refer to the colours and to the New Seasonal Catalogue and Sale-A Bration Calalogues.
I Love these colours but the Garden Green can be very bold. So I have decided to use the
Garden green as an accent, rather than a main colour. So I’m going to use two stamp sets from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue…
Have you seen it yet!
If not then contact me and I will get a copy out to you as soon possible because I know you will love the Stamps, Papers and Accessories as much as I do.
So I’m using …..”What I Love”. Yes, that is the name of the set and YES I do love it
and I have teamed it up with “Hello”.
Now this set is only in the Sale-A Bration Catalogue for a LIMITED TIME (15 Feb 2016).
So don’t leave it too long,
REMEMBER spend $90 from the other catalogues and you get to choose a product for FREE from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.
Oh…..better not forget you want to see the Card I made..OK here it is…
Hope you like it!
All is calm, all is bright……Global Design Project #GDP013

Today I have been having so much fun..a friend came over and we talked and made cards all day.
I think we did more talking than card making, so great to catch up.
So here is my card…very simple. Lots of layers..tearing…singing..keeping calm..mmmm. Not sure on that one but fun YES!

This next challenge with GDP is ‘CASE the Designer’…. CASE-ing the amazingly talented Brian King!
(CASED/Copied from GDP)…….LOL!
How does this challenge work?
There are many definitions of CASE (Copy And Steal Everything, Copy And Share Everything), but in this situation the definition is
Copy And Selectively Edit. This means you can be inspired by ANYTHING on this card. What inspires you in this card to make it your own, what will you copy and what will you edit?
Here are some ideas of what you could be inspired by –
Theme – Winter or Christmas
Layout – The layers with the diagonal slope
Colours – Cherry Cobbler, Pool Party and Whisper White (or you could use colours that are similar, doesn’t have to be exactly the same)
Stamp set – Snow Place
Now, I have to make something clear…for years I have been a “Scrapbooker” and have always considered myself “Clean and Simple”
But it seems lately with cards I’m doing a bit more “Grunge to Antique” Now this is not always easy….I have also discovered I like to see what I can do with colour.
So……….
with this challenge I have playing with a few ideas…not sure what to do ..love the colours ….but …they complement each other but do they blend?
So I tried a few different ideas out, not happy with what I’d done but kept playing because I had this idea. Then, the other day while having a peak on Pinterest,
I found a card done similarly to the effect I wanted to achieve.
Here is what I came up with.
I inked the stamp with Pool Party and then sponged (using daubers) on the lower half with Coastal Cabana (Discontinued), working towards the bottom of stamp with Bermuda Bay
and adding Cherry Cobbler to the tip and some to highlight the center decoration.
I then gave a light mist with water and stamped onto Shimmery White paper.
What I learnt from what Hermine Koster did on her card (Pinterest) was to go around the edges with a marker to highlight them.
I tried using black but found it too dark so with the Basic Gray Stampin’ Write, I very lightly went around the edges and white areas in the stamped image. Then with my Aqua Painter and watered down ink I added some splatters.
The sentiment was inked up with Pool Party and lower edges of the 3 “script” words touched with Cherry Cobbler.
I am really pleased with how this card has turned out..and my wonderful Husband (my GREATEST critic) has also agreed that he likes it too.

Global Design Project #GDP010 – Just for You
What a week…….so busy. Joey Scout Mob Holiday last weekend…
then get home to hear that No: 2 son is sick. He’s in the Navy and was away somewhere floating around in a big ship!
He was being shipped back to Australia and then to Sydney. Yesterday we went to see him and he’s doing well.
So didn’t even get around to thinking about this until this morning. The sketch was made by the famous Teneale Williams.
This was fun! The leaves were sponged in 2 colours and then stamped on a 3″ square and then cut into quarters.
Love doing flowers and making them 3D.
I punched them out using the small pansy punch from the Itty Bitty Accents.
I then softened the paper by rubbing with
Bone folder until paper separated. By using the inside of the paper it gives you a velvety and soft look to the flowers
The inside of card was also stamped and a flower added.
