Layers of Beauty Cards and Gift Box

Here I have created Cards & Gift Box/Filo using the Stampin’ Up!® Layers of Beauty Bundle over 2 videos, I hope you enjoy!

Layers of Beauty bundle by Stampin’ Up!® is at the moment my all time favorite product.

Why?

It’s a traditional floral image, easy to colour with the use of the masks that come with the bundle and can also be die cut with the coordinating dies. You can change up the look to be either modern, shabby chic or just traditional or old world. It’s all up to you and how you use colour.

Layers of Beauty Cards Part 1

I created these cards the same as you might do a ‘One Page Wonder’- where you create your own Designer Series Paper and cut it up to create card fronts.

Starting with a sheet of Basic Beige A4 cardstock I ruled in faint lines through the center of both the length and width of the cardstock. This was to give an idea of where I needed to stamp the images, so that I would be left with part images either side. I didn’t stamp exactly the same both sides as I wanted some of my cards to have a different look or orientation.

The YouTube video is below showing how I created the cards.

Cutting Measurements per card (except for Card Front use full sheet of card stock)

Layers of Beauty Gift Box/Filo Part 2

The design for this Box/ Filo was cased from Mikeala Titheridge Varied Vases Note Card Holder. I have changed the measurements to suite the size of A6 & C6 Cards & Envelopes.

YouTube video below shows how I completed my cards and created the box.

Working out the Box/Filo Measurements

To create your box you need some basic measurements to create your formula. I am using metric measurements for Australian C6 envelopes. Your measurements may differ depending on how many cards you want in your box and the envelope size.

Because of the size I needed to created the box I have used 12 x12″ scrapbook Cardstock

  • Finished Box Size – Worked on Envelope C6 (11.3 x 16cm) plus extra for width and length = 12 x 17cm
  • SpineDepth of Cards and envelopes =2cm
    • Unlike a box with a lid this is more of a Filo with a side opening. The right side has a full spin with between front and back. The left side has 2 spines attached to either side of opening at half width of full spine.
  • Flap Depth inside box = 6cm

Formula

  • Width= front width + Spine + Back Width (12 + 2 +12 = 26cm)
  • Length= length + half spine + Flap (17 +1+6 = 24cm)
  • Side Tabs (cut x2) or left Spines
    • tab width + half spine + tab width (1 +1+1= 3cm)
    • length Flap depth (6cm)

Creativity Abounds Blog Hop – Christmas Gift Packaging

Welcome to Creativity Abounds Blog Hop.   We are a group of very keen Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from all around the world that are coming together to share our creative ideas with you.  We are happy that you can join us and hope that we can Inspire you to make creations of your own.

This month our theme is Gift Packaging.

There is a story behind my project today and I would love to share that with you.

As a child in the 1970’s in the small country town where we lived we still had the Baker, Fruit and Veg Man and Milk Man that would deliver to us each week. Come Christmas my mother would go and buy a bottle of Beer for each one as a thank you for the service they provided. She would wrap the bottle in red crepe paper and a strip of back cardboard around the middle and the a Santa head cut from Christmas wrapping…It wasn’t always easy to find the wrapping with the right size head to fit the bottle, so it was very special when it was found and kept for the following year.

A few times I have done this also, so this year it was time to repeat this tradition. So here is my take on the Special Christmas Gift that my mother made.

Using Red Velvet Paper and Real red Cardstock I have created a great gift box for a bottle of wine.

Here I have used Red Velvet Paper & Real Red Cardstock to make a box to hold the bottle of wine. He has his belt and shinny buckle made from Basic Black cardstock and Gold Metallic Specialty Paper.

Below I have added a video showing how I created this box to fit the bottle. By taking a few simple measurements you can customise this box to fit any size bottle. CLICK the image below to view the video

Soap Gift Boxes

Hi and welcome today to my Blog.

Last week in my class we made these cute little Gift Boxes fill with a small cake of soap. These little boxes of soap make a great little gift for those times where you need something quick, for that unexpected gift

Soap Gift Boxes

You could use any Cardstock and Designer Series Paper to make Boxes with Belly Bands, here I have used Stampin’ Up! ® Peony Gardens Suite Collection.

These boxes made to the dimensions of the Soap. You could use any beautiful soap for this, the soap I used came in a box of 10 soaps – all  wrapped in cellophane. Each soap measured 5cm square with a depth of 1.8 cm. The finished size of my box is 5.5 cm square and a depth of 2 cm.

Here is a my measurement plan for cutting, scoring & folding of card stock.

Measurements Used –

  • Box – 9.5 x 17 cm, score along 9.5cm side at 2cm , 7.5cm. Score along 17cm length at 2cm, 7.5cm, 9.5cm, 15cm
  • Belly Band – 4.5 x 15 cm
  • Tag – scrap for stamp and die cut

How did I do That – Soap Gift Box Video

Watch the video where I show you how I made this basic box.

To finish these boxes I wrapped some Tulle Ribbon around the box and tie of in a bow. Stamp the small Peony image onto Whisper White cardstock using So Saffron Ink Pad. Stamp the ‘For You’ sentiment from the Beauty Abounds Stamp set. Punch a small hole and tie around center of the tulle box using bakers twine. Add Glue Dot under the bow and under tulle on the bottom of the box to hold in place.

Christmas Packaging with Stampin Up!

Christmas what a beautiful time of the year…

I love Christmas…don’t you?

In the last class for the year I decided we would make great little Christmas gift boxes for those small but still important gifts.

We made 3 projects…no cards, but 3 easy to make “Gift Boxes” using Stampin’ Up! Tags and Trimmings Bundle 146062 and the Gift Bag Punch board 135862

The boxes where then decorated using the stamps and Thinlits from the Tags and Trimmings Bundle and Designer Series Papers from Merry Little Christmas DSP 144621 & Merry Music Specialty DSP 144623.

How to Make….

Christmas Stocking

Stocking and pillow box back was cut from Cherry Cobbler card stock, a 1/8 hole was punched in the back of Pillow box to attach a folded and knotted length of Quilted Christmas Ribbon 144620 to be used as a hanger. It is a lot easier putting the ribbon in now than after stocking is completed.

Fold and burnish the side tabs on back panel, also the bottom tab and gently shape the top of stocking. Add Tear and tape to side tabs on back panel as well as bottom tab.

Remove Tear and Tape backing, carefully match the corners at top and adhere down, doing one side at a time.

Burnish, fold over and adhere other side (Sorry forgot the ribbon in these pictures)

Remove backing of tab and gentle fold into box and burnish with bone folder to inside of stocking.

To decorate we using the Snow flake paper from the Merry Little Christmas DSP for the cuff, heal and toe of stocking attached with Multi Purpose Glue. I also adhered the gold pom pom trim to back of cuff before attaching to stocking front.

Bell and Pom Pom Trim was cut from Gold Foil Paper. Two leaves and the large button was stamped onto Whisper White cardstock and cut using the Thinlits. These then where layered using glue dots …large leaf coming from behind the bell with the smaller leaf on opposite side and at the front. Large button on top with a small bow in Red/white Twisted bakers Twine (Discontinued)

Pillow Box

Cut two back panels from Crumb Cake cardstock and remove the log tab from each panel and side tabs only from one panel.

Fold in the scoring lines and Tear and Tape and this time when you join the panels together you need to top and tail them

You can see here the notched one is at the top the other at the bottom. Join other side and gently fold in the tops and bottoms of box.

With the pillow box to decorate I cut a strip of Merry Music Specialty DSP 6 x 15cm. Tear along both edges removing approx .5cm from each side. This is then wrapped around the box and adhered with snail. Wrap the Jute Twine 144625 around the box twice and tie off in a knot. Using the tag from the stamp set I added two leaves and a small button and tied onto the Twine with Red/white bakers twine.

Gift Bag

With a 15 cm x 30cm piece of DSP from the Merry Little Christmas DSP 144621 Score down one long side 2.5cm and fold this is the top of the bag.

Follow the instructions on the Gift Bag Punch board 135862 to make the large gift bag. Fold and adhere bag together.

The Gift Box, I wanted to be more of a Santa Sack so instead of making handles I just threaded the Jute Twine 144625 through the holes and knotted at the front, the bow and tags where then attached at the knot.

The Whisper White tag is only approx 3 cm in width, because the bag is so small it didn’t need a wide tag. I just folded a bow shape and added the Gold sequence at the back and wrapped White bakers twine around the center where the knot would be. I used a glue dot to hold in place on the tag and then using the tails to tie to the jute knot on the bag.Finish off by adding another two leaves and button with the Glue dots.

Hope you have enjoyed my projects we did last night, it was a great way to finish off the year.

Here we all are WISHING each other a MERRY CHRISTMAS

This was at the start of the evening….before the fun began!

Wasn’t sure on how but after a bit of research, found out. It looks so hard but it is so simple. If you want to know more contact me and book in a class.
