Global Design Project #034 | Sketch Challenge

Over the past couple of weeks I have been so absorbed in my Project Life Album that I ran out of time to do a

card for Global Design Project.

So I have really enjoyed jumping back in and coming up with this card.

The Sketch Challenge depicted a card with a wash of colour and a sentiment over the top.

It can be adapted in any way we choose…literally or loosely.

I have a tendency to complicate things

for myself but this time I have tried to stay true to the design.

GDP034 sketch

I have used three colours to achieve the wash on my card.

Those colours being Mellon Mambo, Pacific Point and Bermuda Bay.

2016-05-06 15.12.28

I have kept this very simple as I wanted the colour wash to be the “Hero” of the card.

The sentiment taken from the First Sight Stamp Set gives a wisp of whimsical to the card.

HINT: In doing the wash allow each colour to dry before adding the next colour.

Something I tend not to do as I have an idea in my head and I want it on paper.

Global Design Project #031 | Theme Challenge

This week the GDP Team have given us a Theme Challenge and it’s NATURE.

GDP031

Wow…that’s giving us a broad scope….God’s Creation.

Many years ago…. before children even before my wonderful Husband.

I got the chance to travel to the Northern Territory with a group of friends (5 of us – five girls, one boy). It was great, my first real holiday.

We flew to Darwin, hired a car (thank goodness they up graded it for us, as 5 people in a small car plus luggage was going to be a bit squishy –

but that’s what you do when your young to keep costs down) and traveled down to Ayers Rock over a 2 week period.

So many stories I could tell…but today I only want to share one.

One of the places we stopped at was Katherine Gorge on Katherine River. A naturally beautiful place on the river.

Its made up of 13 gorges but my friends and I only saw the first three, well to be truthful they saw 3, I saw 2 and the beginning of the third.

We hired 2 x 2 man canoe’s and 1  x 1 man Canoe/ Kayak  ..which I used (I was much younger and fitter back them …much fitter)

In between each gorge was “Rock Bars/Banks”, which you had to get the canoe’s over and every time we had to get out of the canoe’s

I just fell out or rolled out. I ended up very wet…….but so much fun!

Anyway we got to the end of the second gorge and the rock bank had a lovely tree growing on it and a nice little spot to sit. So I let the others go

on as I didn’t want to go further to climb a cliff face and jump into the water…I’d fallen in enough..LOL!

But sitting there under the tree I relaxed and was fascinated by these beautiful “Dragonfly’s” all different colours….

so beautiful and so much God’s Wonderful Creation.

So my card today reflects on this time…the friends I shared this time with and the beauty of NATURE.

I have kept my card very simple by using 3 papers from Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper.

138445G

This paper is all in Black and white and can be easily coloured by sponging, braying or spritzing..

IMAG0705

I have decided to sponged my card with Bermuda Bay making the colour strong at the bottom and taking it back to near white at the top.

By mounting it on black makes the intensity of the colour “POP”

Along with a simple sentiment and a couple sequence this card is complete.

Global Design Project #029 | Colour Challenge

“This week is most definitely a challenge for us all – we know that you are up it.

We can either thank or be frustrated with my husband Bruno Bertucci for coming up with this colour combo depending on how you feel about it.”

So this colour Combo was Bruno’s idea, Kylie………mmmmm!

GDP029 Colour

Interesting combination but once I started working out what I was going to do, it all came together.

With this card I wanted to keep it light and soft with a look of being Antique.

These 3 colours are such strong colours and can easily over power each other but they work so well together.

I have used Crumb Cake Card stock as my White because I didn’t want a stark bright contrast. The Crumb Cake softens and blends the colours.

The Rose image I stamped in Early Espresso and then used the Blender Pen to bring the colour out and give shading Adding a touch more Early Espresso from the stamp pad.

The edges of the Deco Labels Framelit was sponged in the Early Espresso.

On the card I stamped the texture stamp from “You’ve Got This” Stamp Set in the 2 colours overlapping them.

The ribbon used is the Seam Binding in Crumb Cake (discontinued), this was dampened by spraying with water and then

scrunching ribbon and stamping directly on top with the two colours….Tangelo Twist and Bermuda Bay.

IMAG0697

Hope you enjoy this card

Keep on Stampin’ Up!

Table built using Product Table Builder by The Crafty Owl – Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator.

What do you do with Designer Series Paper or Scrapbooking Card stock that’s left over?

For those of us that are Demonstrators with Stampin’ Up! & DSP has retired but still have some left over

or

you have a collection of printed Cardstock & you are not sure how you are going to use it all.

or

you now do Project Life and don’t need all that 12 x 12 card stock.

I have a few ideas…

  1. Sell it on Ebay or sale/swap sites (following the SU Manual)
  2. Give it away to schools or preschools
  3. Give as a gift to young girls (or boys) that love to do crafts
  4. Cut it into 10 x 15cm ( 4 x 6″) pieces to use as Project Life Cards

I have done all of these over the years except for No.4..Project Life Cards, until today.

Over this weekend I have started catching up on getting my photo’s sorted.

Usually I would recommend with starting with the most recent photos as these you can remember the details.

But I’m not taking my own advise here….I have started at 2008.

One of my previous post explains this a little…..

while sorting photo’s for my sons 21st I came across photos that showed a milestone event that happened in out lives.

I ways meant to put them in an album but like most of us I hadn’t got around to it.

Now I’m working on catching up these lost years…which makes for lots of pages to do.

So to get back to the excess card stock……

I have started my Project Life album from 2008..

so I will need lots of Cards to fill a few gaps.

So I have cut up some of my Card stock (DSP) into 10 x 15cm (4 x 6 “) pieces.

PLs_01

They are there ready to go when I need them…

I have also spent a little bit of time organising my Project Life trolly,

I have taken the lid and placed it behind the base and put a rubber band around them to keep them together.

This allows for extra storage for the Accessories packs you can purchase to go with your cards and keeps them together in families.

PLs4_01

In some of box lids where I don’t have the  accesories left I have placed the DSP I have cut.

Its all ready to go..whether I’m working at the dinning room table or in my office…

Just add “E”

IMAG0657

My card is all about Easter….

God gave us his Son to die on the Cross for Us.

His Son the LAMB of God.

The sentiment on the front of the card was printed via the computer.

I love the way that Rochelle Blok (JAI Design Team) made her Cross so I have CASed her idea to make mine.

I loved the way the Cross is tied together with Linen Thread giving it that rustic feel.

I used the Hardwood Stamp to achieve a timber look for the cross.

My lamb is sitting among flowers at the base of the Cross.

I wish you all a very Happy Easter.
