Stampin’ Up! Daisy Delight Accordion Fold Card

Where have the years gone…..

My No:3 Son (out of 4) will soon be sitting his HSC, Year 12. It only seems like yesterday that he started in Kindergarten.

Img_1830

Here he is with his 2 older brothers about to enter the school gates all those years ago.

This year has been a big year for him….as he has been the 2017 School Captain ( one more week left ).

Last Friday he asked me if I was able to make a card for the Year 12 students to give to their Year Adviser.

I was so pleased he asked me and its a card I have really enjoyed making.

So as there is approx 90 students…..I needed a large card, or a card with pages. So I decided on an Accordion Fold Card, you can make these card as large or long as you need as long as you make in odd numbers. Its a card that is made up of squares joined together on diagonal corners…this will all be explained through the pictures and video.

Image showing Daisy Delight and Delightful Daisy designer Series Paper

Card size 15 x 15 cm ( 6 x 6″ )

I also made an envelope to go with the card taking into account of the card thickness.

The accordion part of the card is made from 3 sheets of 30 x 30 cm Whisper White Cardstock 124302 and front and back covers are in Night of Navy Cardstock 106577. I decorated the card with the delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper 144137 and the greeting and daisy I stamped using the Daisy Delight Bundle 145361 (Stamp and Daisy punch)

IMAG1103

The daisy I stamped in Smoky Slate 131179 and sponged in Calypso Coral 126983…..my sponge had some residue Daffodil Delight 126944 so the daisies have this beautiful two tone effect. The leaves are stamped in Old Olive126953  and then lightly sponged and fussy cut around, leaving a small boarder around the leaf. The flower centers on the card from is a Faceted Gem Clear 144142 and the inside of card I stamped the flower center from the stamps in Daffodil Delight and adhered with a Dimenstional.

IMAG1104

I have added some Wink of Stella Clear 141897 to both daisy’s for that something extra.

I have made a Video to show how the cardstock is folder and joined…I hope you find this helpful.

Any questions please just contact me and I will get back to you as soon as possible. Also below you will find links to all the products used.

Awesomely Artistic

Hi and welcome to Butterflys and Bows

This week I have been asked to make a card to send to a family in our church……

I needed a card that would suit the male members of this family but then not leave out the women either.

So I decided to do something a little rustic but still soft and I hope soothing as well.

The stamp set I am using by Stampin’ Up! is Awesomely Artistic. It s a great set that allows you to add layers in stamps not so much as layers in paper.

The detail in these stamps are beautiful and has that old rustic charm.

You can purchase Awesomely Artistic HERE

IMAG0840

10 simple steps to create your own card using Awesomely Artistic Stamps by Stampin’ Up!
  • For the card and card front I used Crumb Cake Card stock, cut at  Base- 14.5 x 29 cm and card front – 9.5 x 13.5 cm
  • Using Crumb Cake Stampin’ Pad I stamped the linen image a couple of times on the top and bottom of the card base.
  • The floral Image I stamped in Early Espresso.
  • Using Watercolor pencils by Stampin’ Up! I coloured the flowers in Whisper White and then added Calypso Coral in the center of the petals. With a touch of Daffodil Delight as the flower centers. The leaves were coloured with Old Olive. There is NO blending, just simply colouring in.
  • The fern leaves I stamped with the Old Olive Stampin’ Pad.
  • I highlighted the fern and flowers using a white gel pen
  • On a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock I stamped the circle flower image in Calypso Coral and also highlighted with the white gel pen. Cut out with a 1.5 cm Circle Punch.
  • With a few wrapes of Stampin’ Up! Linen Thread and the floral circle attached on top with a dimensionals
  • The edges of both the card and the card front was lightly sponged with Crumb Cake using the Stampin’ Pad and sponge.
  • Add a few dimensionals to the back and mount onto the card

Swirly Scribbles from Stampin’ Up!

Good Morning and welcome to Butterflys and Bows…

This weeks challenge by the Global Design Challenge team is a Colour Challenge GDP#093 and the colours we are playing with are ……

GDP093_Colour_ChallengeWho’s loving these new In-Colours by Stampin’ Up!?….I am.

Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst from the new In-Colours teamed with Pool Party from the Subtle Collection….WOW! What a great combo..

The Pool Party adds a sense of Ahhhh! to this combination, that little bit of calm with those 2 great vibrant colours.

I love the FUN these colours bring out..they remind me of hot summers at the beach or at the pool, or a garden in full bloom and the feelings of laughter and playfulness.

So I wanted to follow through with this and used the Stampin’ Up! Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies and lots of layers of colour.

IMAG0831

I love the Swirly Scribbles and how they can be layered or entwined like I have done here.

I have also added a layer of the Berry Burst crackle paper from  Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack by Stampin’ Up!

The sentiment used comes from Watercolor Wings Stamp Set.

If you wish to give this card a go, here are all the measurements I used.

How to make my Swirly Scribbles Card……

Capturemm

Method-

  1. Cut the Swirly Scribbles from the Berry Burst (9 x 9), Lemon Lime Twist (7 x 7), Pool Party (6 x 6)
  2. Stamp sentiment on Whisper White and flag the right hand side using Basic Black Archival Ink.
  3. Fold along score line on card Base and adhere Lemon Lime Twist Matt.
  4. Adhere the crackle paper mat to Pool Party mat (this is not adhered to the Lemon Lime twist as yet), I use Multi Purpose glue for this as it allows time to get the paper in the right place.
  5. Entwine the Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist Swirls and adhere to top of card also attach tag, slipping it over and under swirls.
  6. Adhere Pool Party swirl to center Berry Burst swirl
  7. Add Dimensionals to Pool Party mat and adhere to Lemon Lime Twist Matt
  8. Adhere Whisper What Matt to the inside of the card.

Now if you are wanting to Purchase any of these items to make this card then here is a link to these products at My Store…

GDP092_SteffiThis week we are CASEing the talented Steffi Helmschrott.

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit

IMAG0818a

I love the Watercolor Wings and this is probably only the second time I have used it.

The colours I have used are Smoky Slate, Powder Pink and Soft Sky….love for beautiful it has turned out.

The Smoky Slate I stamped off once before stamping onto the Shimmery White Cardstock as I wanted it to be very subtle. The body I stamped in full strength.

The sentiment came from the stamp set “Sitting Here”

I have added a layer under the card front from Fresh Florals in the Powder Pink.

Hope you like this weeks card.

Sympathy Cards…Do you find them hard to make?

Sympathy Cards…not the easiest cards to make. Why, because they are full of emotions.

Hi and welcome to Butterflys and Bows….over this past week I have been struggling making cards for friends that have lost family members.

Making cards for family’s that are grieving is so fully of emotion, it can bring up memories and feelings of when you may have lost someone. When I make these cards I’m looking for a sense of calm, gentleness and most of all “Love and Understanding”.

You want the person who is receiving the card to feel you truly care for them.

I try to keep the cards I make to a simple and elegant design with soft and using gentle colours, not over the top or too busy.

IMAG0696

This card I used the Colorful Seasons Bundle 145348 and the sentiment is from Flourishing Phrases 141534

Video Friday – Glossy Paper-Alcohol Ink Blending

Hi and Welcome to another Video Friday!

On Tuesday I was having my usual Facebook fix when I came upon this great card by Maria Willis.

blogger-image--196932548I love the vibrant colours that she has used, it just brought this big smile across my face. I had to find out more about how Maria had achieved this card, so followed the links to here Blog –

“Cardbomb”. Please go and check it out….this one is now on my “Favorite Blogs” list…..

So Click HERE

or here is the link http://cardbomb.blogspot.com.au/2017/06/creating-kindness-blog-hop-new-catalog.html

This card was created as part of a Blog Hop for Creating Kindness (around the world) International Design Team.

Maria says “If I had to describe my stamping style in one word… I think I would choose, “Techniques.” I absolutely love to experiment with Stampin’ Up! products and I love to try new techniques.”

Maria’s blog sounds like one I’m going to be visiting on a regular bases.

So I had to give this a try……

IMAG0734

As you can see it was a bit messy….and Maria does say at one point that if you don’t want to spray everything with ink cover it up….I should have listened to that part. LOL….

I have ink everywhere including ME!

But it was so much fun …I kept on going…I think I ended up with about 8 pieces…some good and some are just ready for the bin.

BUT…don’t be too quick to throw in the trash as once its dry and when you trim down ..you may end up with something pretty amazing.

The card stock used is the NEW Glossy White Cardstock 144241 and I cut the sheet into quarters.

To get the beautiful, bright and vibrant colours on the Glossy White Cardstock, Maria mixed rubbing alcohol with Stampin’ Up! Ink refills. This also gave some wonderful blending effects as well.

Maria goes through a couple of different techniques and I’m sure like me you can’t wait to get hold of some Rubbing Alcohol and have a go yourself..

Well here’s how my card turned out…

a

I think it looks good …don’t you?

So here’s the video…enjoy, can’t wait to see what you end up with.

Where are your photo’s now?

Hi and Welcome to Butterflys and Bows!

Where are your photos now?

This is something that at the moment is very relevant and something that had me in tears for a few hours last night.

And this is something that I have spoken about before, but…..

Where are your photos……are they stored on your phone, on a thumb drive, disc, external hard drive, storage cloud.

There are many places to store your photo’s….

How safe are they?

Safe from damage, being lost, destroyed…

Where am I coming from, why am I sharing this with you..

Last week I picked my son up from school and we drove to McDonald’s…he needed to get changed from School uniform to casual clothes to go away with friends on a Church Youth activity and we had no time to go home.

Easy…….went in with his phone came out minus his phone….we didn’t relies this for 20 minutes. In that time someone has found the phone and kept it.

What was on the phone….all his photos of a school trip to Cambodia in January.

Forward to yesterday….

I have for the past 3 years been carefully storing photos on an external Hard Drive…..So they are all in one place and safe….

Until yesterday….

I lent my Hard Drive to another person and a simple mistake has corrupted the hard drive and now my photo’s may be lost.

No one is at fault or to blame.

So where are your photo’s now?

Now with most of us owning Smart Phones its so easy now to take great photo’s. but we loose phones or they stop working for different reasons. We keep them on our computers but these can crash. We put them on storage devices….or in Cloud Storage and there are many to choose from… It seems that Cloud is good as you can access from different computers/ devices.

But are these always safe.

Android-USB-OTG-flash-drives

What is the answer?

I don’t think there is an easy answer. But the one answer I have discovered is have more than one way of backing up those photos.

All of the storage devices are good, work what works for you best but have more than one.

It will take a little work but it will be worth it to keep those memories safe.

From now on I will be storing in a “Cloud” and computer or external Hard Drive…more than one place.

Get them into Albums!

Most of all is I am going to get my best photos printed and into my albums.

This way I have something to share easily with family and friends.

It can be as simple as place photos into pockets or designing a whole page around the photo/photos. Get your family involved, let them help you plain and journal what the photos are about.

Stampin’ Up! have been passionate about Memory Keeping for the past few years and this will be continuing with there NEW catalogue. With the chose of pocket pages or traditional scrapbook pages there is something for all.

Please contact me if you are interested in learning more about our products and seeing the new catalogue.

Please, have a look at how you are storing your photos, think about storing in more than one device and

most of all PRINT THEM AND SHARE THEM.

Re-live the enjoyment you had in taking the photos by sharing them through your albums.
