Global Design Project #062 | Sketch Challenge… Joy to the World

Joy to the world
The lord is come
Let earth receive her king
Let every heart prepare him room
And heaven and nature sing

This is a song we sing at Christmas when we celebrate the birth of Christ Jesus…..

It is a song that brings JOY to my heart at the thought

of the coming of our King.

Christmas is not only about gifts and food

its about the JOY in knowing Jesus Christ was Born.

The challenge by Global Design Project this week is a Sketch Challenge.

gdp062-sketch

My card today I have kept very simple.

I love plaids in the Warmth & Cheer Designer Series Paper Stack

(it must be the touch of Scottish in me).

And this card needed only a simple statement

“Joy to the World”.

This stamp can be found in the Tin of Tags Stamp Set..

it is such a wonderful set which I have used a number of times.

I have kept the colour palette to the same colours as in the plaid,

using the black to add pop to the Garden Green and Crumb Cake.

The Dazzling Diamonds adds that bit of BLING!

Project Life and Christmas

holiday16_p30c-35

Are you like me and take lots of photos over the Christmas season of events, your children, Grand-children….then what do you do with them …leave them on your phone….get them printed and then they go into that draw or box.

Well I have the solution… Project Life – by Becky Higgins and Stampin’ Up!
It is a fun and great way to get your photos into albums to share with family and friends.

How about preparing your album before December even starts and then all you need to do is slip in the photos and add our journaling…its so simple!
Book a workshop and let me show you and your friends how easy and simple it is…..gone are the days we spent hours or even days over one page (though you can still do this if you wish).
I’m loving Project Life and its simplicity and I would love to share it with you.

Who doesn’t love a great Santa?

I love Christmas and I love Santa.

My parents every Christmas Eve would gather my sisters and I together

and read to us “Twas the Night Before Christmas”

by Clement Clarke Moore

So I love the traditional Santa decided below

“He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a pedler just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself.”

This year Stampin’ Up! have given a wonderfully traditional Santa and I couldn’t resit
purchasing this stamp set.
So here is my card using this the “Father Christmas Stamps”
2016-08-31 11.48.43-1
I wanted to achieve the old world charm of this stamp set.
So I have used  Crumb Cake and Always Artichoke as my card stock. The images were all stamped in Early Espresso.
In stamping the top and base of this card the “Stamp-a-ma-jig” became my best friend in lining
everything up nicely.
2016-08-31 11.49.51
Using a Blender Pen and Always Artichoke Stamp Pad I traced around the
finer scroll lines in the boarders top and bottom.
Santa was then coloured in softly to allow the fine detail of the stamp to come through.
The edges of the layers of card stock was sponged in Early Espresso and Always Artichoke
to add to that Aged Old Charm.

I’m Back………Global Design Project #049 | Colour Challenge

Hi all……

Its been a long time…I have busy over the last month or two with

a new shop that has opened here in my local town. Its called Highland Handmade

( have made reference to it in other posts), in making products to sell.

Good news I’m back!

I have also updated my blog and worked out how to use Lightbox Plugins…

so now you can enlarge the pictures I add.

(so exciting!)

Well this weeks Challenge from Global Design Project is a Colour Challenge

Colour ChallengeLove these 3 colours together, so fresh and since its almost spring I had to do something with flowers.

Now this wasn’t an easy…..I had an idea in my head and everytime time I stamped I made a mistake.

So after multi attempts, this morning it all came together.

2016-08-17 09.00.15These flowers and leaves are a 3 step stamping process.

!. Stamp the outline image of the flower

2016-08-17 10.44.01

2. Stamp the flower all over colour ( stamping off to lighten colour onto scratch paper)

2016-08-17 10.44.20

3. Stamp detail image.

2016-08-17 10.45.06

I have also layered the flowers using a Masking Technique.

The beautiful sentiment I have used from the Floral Phrases Stamps

The inside of the card I have used some of my extra card fronts….trimming the bottom away and mounting it onto

a piece of Daffodil Delight

IMAG1344

Now I just need to workout how I’m going to use all the extra flowers I have…LOL!
