Positive Thoughts

My card today uses the Positive Thoughts Stamps from the 2020 Mini Catalogue by Stampin’ Up!®, along with the coordinating Nature’s Thoughts Dies. The dies were released early this month as part of the Coordination Products Release. They will only be available while stocks last, if you want them order them now!

I love feathers and creating coloured feathers, so when the dies came out I had to have them. There are two dies that cut feathers, one is a frame die that cuts around the stamped image of a feather & the other is a cuts and embosses a larger feather. I have only used the embossed die for the colourful feathers on my card.

Products & Measurements used…

  •  Positive Thoughts Stamps
  • Nature’s Thoughts Dies
  • Subtle 3D Embossing Folder
  • Card Base – Basic Black Cardstock cut 21.5 x 14.5cm, scored at 10.5cm
  • Card Mat – Gorgeous Grape cut 10 x 14cm
  • Card front – Whisper White 10 x14cm
  • Card insert – Whisper White 10 x14cm
  • Half a sheet of Whisper White to create the feathers
  • Stampin’ Pads – Melon Mambo, Mango Melody, Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana
  • Tuxedo Black Momento Ink
  • Bakers Twin – Whisper White

How did I make this card…

  • Card Mat – I used the Stamparatus®  to stamp the feather back ground, using the Gorgeous Grape Ink. The Stamparatus isgreat for stamping rows and getting then nice and straight. The mat then can be adhere to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
  • On the half sheet of Whisper White I sponged two sets of colours- Melon Mambo & Mango Melody, Gorgeous Grape & Coastal Cabana. Blending the two colous together Then using the die I cut the feathers out, making sure that the feathers were placed over the top where the two colours blended together.
  • Run the Whisper White for the card front through the Big Shot using the Subtle 3D Embossing Folder. Then run it through again, this time with the Frame from the Natures Thoughts Dies.
  • Stamp the Sentiments onto the card front using Tuxedo Black Momento Ink
  • Choose two of the feathers and adhere them down with Multipurpose Liquid Glue overlapping them slightly.
  • Wrap Bakers Twine around the card front 3 time and adhere down at the back. Make a bow and attach with a Glue Dot, at the top of the feathers. Attach the card front to the card mat with Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Card Insert attach to the inside of the card and add another feather to the bottom right corner.Thank you for reading about my card today. It’s a simple card to make and I hope you give it ago and make one for yourself.

Dressed to Impress Gift Bag and Cards

Hi and welcome to my Blog.

Need a little gift bag, small enough to fit a nice piece of jewellery or a small bottle of perfume..

It was so easy to make and with most of the work done for you by Stampin’ Up! by using the dies in the Dressed to Impress Bundle which will cut and score ready to fold and glue together. The dies include the pocket, buckles and buttons to finish it off. I have also decorated mine by adding a piece of Best Dressed 15.2 x 15.2 (6 x 6″) Designer Series Paper to the front of the bag. To do this I just cut out another front for the bag from the DSP and trimmed of the side gust piece and glued to the from of my bag.

This would even make a great Party Bag filled with lollies or small toys for a little girl or change the handles to go over to the back just like a back pack for any little boy.

This little bag I filled with 7.6 x 7.6cm (3 x 3″) Best dressed Note cards & Envelopes. These cards have printed fronts, are blank inside & the envelopes are also printed on the front with liners inside to match. This Note cards were so easy to do with only a couple of products, The sentiment and image were stamped in Smoky Slate and then the image was highlighted with some Wink of Stella to give it a touch of Glam!

I just had to make one extra card with the Perfume bottle from the stamp set as the feature.

The three bottles where stamped on a extra piece of Whisper White cardstock in Momento Tuxedo Black, then coloud using one of the stamps and then a bit of ‘Glam’ with Wink of Stella. Die cut them out with the matching die a couple of dimenionals on the back and they are ready to attach to your card. Stamp the sentiment and add the ‘Splodge’ (for the want of a better word) over the top, then attach to the from of your card. Adhere the bottles and another card completed and ready for someone special.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my projects & that you’re inspired to get crafty!

February International Blog Highlights – Thank You

Hi and welcome to my Blog.

INDIA

Beautiful, Bright and Vibrant

One day I’d love to go and explore India’s love of COLOUR.

For the time being I am enjoying India through the camera lens of a friend who travels to India often. Her photos are always so bright and vibrant with colour, from beautiful Blue or Turquoise doorways. To ladies dancing in the streets wearing bright Sari’s in pinks, reds, blues and greens.

There use of mosaics and intricate decorations of their forts, temples and palaces are amazing.

The colours of India are the inspiration for my card.

Making this card was a bit of an experiment.

  1. How was I going to create the back ground.
  2. I wanted to create a mosaic type image

So I tried two different techniques using the same Stampin’ Up!® Products.

Products used

How did I create this card..

Firstly, I tried Colouring the Shimmery White Cardstock using Pigment Sprinkles..Stampin’ Up!®.

**Shimmery White Cardstock is a good alternative to using Watercolour paper.

  1. Sprayed card stock with water and sprinkled both colours on, adding more water to get the colour to move and cover the area. With this technique there is more movement and deeper colour where the Pigment Sprinkles touch the cardstock.
  2. Mix Rubbing Alcohol with the Pigment Sprinkles in a Spritzer bottle and spray card stock…one colour from each side. This gave a even and brighter finish.

I love how they both turned out but the intensity of the colours used with Rubbing alcohol sprayed onto the cardstock really gave me the look I was after.

To bring back some of the Bermuda Bay into the back ground (that was lost a little when spraying the two colours), I mixed the embossing past with 2 drops of Re-Inker.

Working quickly ( as the paste drys very quick) I layered the mask on top of my card front and with a pallet Knife spread the past over the top.

I decided to create the coloured cardstock for the flourish the same way as I created the background using the Mango Melody and Melon Mambo

The sentiment “thank You, so very much” is from the Flourishing Phrases Cling-Mount Stamp Set and was embossed on Basic Black cardstock with White Embossing Powder.

All that’s left to do is put this card together..

Measurements used….

  • Card Base – Melon Mambo 21 x 14.5cm, scored at 10.5cm
  • Card Mat – Bermuda Bay 10 x 14cm
  • Card Front trimmed to 9.7 x 13.7 cm

The colours of India have truly inspired me

I have added my card to Kylie Bertucci’s International Stampin’ Up!® Blog Highlights for February Theme- Thank you.
