Happy Birthday – Peony Garden

Hi and welcome today to my Blog.

Happy Birthday

‘Love it, Chop it’….#loveitchopit

What is ‘Love it, Chop it’? Instead of hoarding our beautiful Stampin’ Up! ® Designer Series Paper (DSP), Stampin’ Up! ® Demonstrator Kylie Bertucci encourages us to love our papers by cutting it into usable pieces and use it on our cards. You can make lots of card fronts by cutting your DSP into 10 x 14.4 cm pieces. Out of one sheet of DSP you will get 6 card fronts.

You are more likely to use your beautiful papers when in smaller pieces.

Make this DSP your own by colouring it in…Colouring is also good for your well being, so relaxing.

For this card I have used my Stampin’ Blends in Mint Macaron to colour in the back ground.

Casing the Catalogue – Flowers for Every Season

Hi and welcome today to my Blog.

Casing the Catalogue

Are you looking for inspiration, not sure where to start?

Stampin’ Up! ® have given us a beautiful Catalogue full of products for us to drool over and purchase…but they have also given us a catalogue full of inspiration. Cards/ layout ideas, colour combinations and tips and tricks, there is so much in there. Grab another coffee and have another look.

Flowers for Every Season

The card I have made today comes from page 10 of the Annual Catalogue. Where  have Cased the Flowers for Every Season card.

I have changed mine a little that’s because I don’t have all the Blends as yet. Also I couldn’t find my Twine…it’s here somewhere in my messy workroom. The ‘Love You’ on their card comes from one of the Memories and More Cards, which they have cut up. For mine I used the Well Said Stamp Set and heat embossed onto Shaded Spruce cardstock to match the colours I used in my flowers.

So glad your Catalogue have another look and see what you can Case…Have Fun!

Sunflower Shaker Card

Beautiful bright Sunflowers…I don’t know what it is about Sunflowers but they always seem to bring joy to peoples faces.

Helen Keller said….

My card to day uses the Sunflowers from the Jar of Flowers Bundle. The flowers were stamped in Memento Ink and coloured using Blends. .The stems of the flowers were stamped in Memento Ink and were also stamped off just to mute the colour so the looked like they were in water. The Mason jar was stamped in Pool Party Ink and then using the reverse side (because they are a reversible stamp) I also used Pool Party Ink but stamped off to give a lighter shade

In the Mason Jar Dome I added some of the Flower for Every Season Gems.

July International Blog Highlights – Thank You

Hi and welcome to my Blog.

My card today use’s the Stampin’ Up! ®  Prized Peony stamps from the Peony Garden Suite Collection. This is the first time I have had to play with this beautiful suite.

Prized Peony

The large Peony flower was stamped onto Whisper White Cardstock along with the sentiment using the Memento Black stamp pad. With the Stitched Rectangle Dies I die cut a section of the flower including the sentiment and then coloured the cut section with Blends – Flirty Flamingo, Rococo Rose, Granny Apple Green, Old Olive and Mango Melody.

I then ran the card front through the Subtle 3D Embossing folder together. This card has been layered with the center rectangle sitting above the rest of the card.

For inside of the card I stamped a smaller Peony also in black on the insert and then matted it onto Flirty Flamingo Cardstock.

I have added my card to Kylie Bertucci’s International Stampin’ Up!® Blog Highlights for July Theme- Thank you.

Forever Blossoms – Partial Die Cut

Hi and welcome to my Blog.

Today’s card was inspired by a video from Jennifer McGuire on Partial Die Cuts.

What is ‘Partial Die Cutting?

Partial Die cutting is just what it says… your only cutting part of the die. But in this case we are using two dies and on each one your cutting only a part of the die. The products I used  for my card are Stampin’ Up! ® Forever Blossoms Bundle and Stitched so Sweetly Dies.

I found it wasn’t as easy as it looked at first and it took me about 6 attempts to get something that I was happy with. The down side of this technique is now my dies are slightly bent…they still work so that’s OK.

The image was then coloured using Stampin’ Up! ® Blends.

Products & Measurements used…

How did I make this card…

  • Stamping, die cutting & colouring the image – I would suggest watching Jennifer McGuire’s video
  • On either side on the label portion of the cut out I punched a small hole so later ribbon can be threaded through.
  • Colour a length of Ribbon as per video linked below.

  • With smaller mat piece (8.5 x 11.5 cm) cut with one of the scallop stitch die from the Stitched so Sweetly dies and emboss with Scripty 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Adhere the two mats together.
  • Place dimensionals onto the back of the die cut image..DO NOT remove the backings
  • How to thread the ribbon – start at the left hole and take one end of the ribbon from the back to the front. At this point you can place the mats under the image (do not remove backings from the dimensionals). Then take the ribbon behind the mats and across to the left side. Put the two ends of the ribbon together and thread through the right hole on the stamped image. While the ribbon is loose remove backings from the dimensionals and adhere in place. Tie a bow and trim.
  • With Multi Purpose Glue attach the mats to card base.
  • Sentiment – stamp sentiment onto a piece of basic Black cardstock using VersaMark and White Embossing Powder. Adhere the sentiment to card with the mini dimensonals.

Ornate Gardens in Blue…

Hi and welcome to my Blog.

Do you craft?

Did you know doing craft is a great way of relaxing and getting rid of all that stress….

In Australia we are having to stay home, trying to keep active in some way (that’s stress in it’s self)…and there is only so many times I can vacuum the floor in one day.

Find a craft, activity or a few different activities to do so then you have a variety. I always have a few different things on the go…most of the time I would say that’s not a good thing because then nothing gets finished. But at this point in time ‘variety is the spice of Life’.

Make sure that every 30 mins you get up and walk around the house…check on the kids, the cat or get a drink of water. Keep active…I’m lucky in that at my place I have a walking track in the house…when you walk in the front door you can go right go up the hall to family room and the continue through to the lounge and your back to the start…I’m just doing laps of the house.

What have made today?

I love Blue….For this card I used the different shades of blue along with Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight from Stampin’ Up! ® Blends range to colour the flowers.I then used one of the frames from the Ornate Style bundle to cut the beautiful boarder. Use the Precision Plate when cutting out these frames, it will make cutting them so much easier. If you don’t have that plate then add a shim or a sheet of cardstock and run it though a few times until it has cut through.

The mat of Whisper White card stock was run through the Big Shot using the Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder.

I left this card free of any sentiment for two reasons, so it can be used for any occasion and I didn’t want to cover the stunning flowers.

Products used from Stampin’ Up!

  •  Ornate Style Bundle 154119
  • Ornate Floral 3D Embossing Folder 152725
  • Whisper White cardstock
  • Blends Combo’s – Balmy Blue, Night Of Navy, Seaside Spray, Daffodil Delight, Smoky Slate
  • Momento Tuxedo Black Ink Pad

You are simply…WONDERFUL

“You are simply Wonderful” what a beautiful statement and something I know we would love to hear.

This stamp ‘Grow & Bloom’, is from the 2019-2020 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalogue. You can purchase this as a Bundle with the Budding Blooms Dies with a 10% discount.

The flowers I have coloured using Stampin’ Up! Blends – Daffodil Delight, Mango Melody, Calypso Coral, Highland Heather, Flirty Flamingo, Pool Party, Granny Apple Green and Poppy Parade. All of these colours ‘POP’ against the black.

The sentiment – You are simply Wonderful’ was Heat embossed using Stampin’ Up! White Embossing Powder onto a strip of Basic Black cardstock. The flowers were then attached to the back of the strip.

I have also used the Buffalo Check Stamp for my background and have stamped it multiple times at different angles using Momento Ink onto Whisper White cardstock. This gives it a country grunge look.

If you LOVE this card then please VOTE for me on Kylie Bertucci’s International Stampin’ Up! Blog Highlights.

Sailing Home…

I have had so much fun with the ‘Come Sail Away’ Suite by Stampin’ Up! These cards I played with water colour back grounds. I made about 6 water colour pieces trying to get two that I liked.

Both of these backgrounds were done with lots of water and re-inkers.

The card above I used Pacific Point and Coastal Cabana Re-inkers.

The colours used on this card were Night of Navy, Pacific Point, Coastal Cabana with Rock Salt sprinkled over the top. The salt adsorbs the ink and this has left the pink spots.

How did I do the water colour…

  • I do most of my colouring were there is a lot of water used in a foil baking tray lined with paper towel.
  • Cut water colour paper to the size required 9.7cm x 13.7cm
  • spray water all over water colour paper.
  • Add a few drops of lightest re-inker first and the only a couple of the darker re-inker.
  • Spray again with water and move the ink around by turning water colour paper around.
  • I found I had to move quickly because as soon as I added the ink to paper it wanted to adsorb and that left the darker spots.
  • Allow to dry.

I used Blends to colour the lighthouse, anchor, and compass. In colours Pool Party Combo, Bermuda Bay Combo, Daffodil Delight Light, Smoky Slate Light and Sahara Sans Combo.

TGIF Challenge #tgifc213

Its another Challenge and I have never done a challenge with TGIF and their Challenge is all about ‘Gingham Gala’. I love this DSP and it was one of the products from the last Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalogue.

Click on the Challenge image below and go over to TGIF and have a look at the amazing projects their Design Team have done to inspire us.

I decided with this card to team the old with the new… Gingham Gale with Stampin’ Up! ‘Bloom and Grow Bundle’. The Bloom and Grow stamps and Dies are two of the new products that are in the 2019-2020 Annual Catalogue.

“Bloom and Grow’ is a wonderful set if you love to colour, all those beautiful flowers and what better to colour with but with Stampin’ Up! Blends.

There are 13 Photopolymer stamps made up of 5 sentiment stamps, 3 large floral swags and 5 small stamps. The ‘Budding Blooms’ Dies have 10 pieces – 3 that cut around the 3 swags, 4 to match the 4 smaller stamps, 1 that cuts 3 small flowers and 2 scallop lengths.

How I made this card…..

  • Card Base -Whisper White cut 14.5 x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm
  • Card Front – Highland Heather Gingham Gala cut at 10 x 14cm, adhere to Card Base.
  • Whisper White circle cut using the Stitched Shapes and stamp the sentiment. Adhere to card front.
  • On a large scrap of Whisper White Cardstock stamp the largest of the swags and the Leaf/Berry Branch stamp twice with Momento Ink.
  • Coloured the images with Blends – Highland Heather, Calypso Coral, Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight and Mango Melody. NB: Only need to colour one end of the second swag.
  • Cut the swags and Leaf/Berry using the dies
  • Using dimensionals attach one of the swags to the left side of the stitched circle. Because the swag does not follow the curve of the circle I added the 2 small leaf branches. They are tucked under the swag and come out following the arc of the circle and adhered with Multi Purpose Glue.
  • Cut down the 2nd swag and add just under the stitched circle.
  • Add a small bow.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my Blog. If your interested in these products they will be available as of the 4th June. Any questions or you would like a catalogue please contact me via my contact form
