Chain Card Swap Blog Hop – Maheswari

Back in October 2023 I joined a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators to take part in a ‘Card swap with a Twist – Chain card Swap.

How does this work?

The swap is similar to an old fashioned chain letter or I would say…”Chinese Whispers with Cards’

  • We were given a list of names – 11 in total (not including myself)
  • Create a simple card
  • Send to first person on the list
  • Wait to receive a card from someone…
  • ‘CASE’ that card and send it to the 2nd person on your list
  • Repeat until all people on the list has received a card

Now this is the fun part….When you CASE the card you received, it’s your interpretation of the received card. Just like ‘Chinese Whispers’ you may not end up with what you originally designed

Round 6 Bee Mine

I think I have a thing about squares…I keep changing them to circles..LOL!

Bee Mine Suite such a cute bundle to work with.

I kept the two layers from the card I received bur reduced the with of the top one and off centered it. Adding two circles, one cut with a 2 3/8″ circle punch and the other is from the Stylish Shapes Dies.

The Bee body was stamped on Daffodil Delight Cardstock and the wings punched from Vellum coloured with Balmy Blue Blends.

Card base, sentiment and stamping are all in Poppy Parade.

Were to Start…Start this hop at Maheswari so you get the progression

Follow the Hop around and see how these creations changed from start to finish…you might be surprised to see how these cards finished up!

Thank you for stopping by and reading my Blog. I hope you have enjoyed my projects & that you’re inspired to get crafty!

Flowering Zinnias

Our theme this month for the Let’s Craft Together Blog Hop is a ‘Water colour Challenge’ by Julia and I am using the Simply Zinnias Bundle by Stampin’ Up!®. The Simply Zinnias Bundle is part of Flowering Zinnias Suite Collection in the Online Exclusives.

Zinnias are beautiful and vibrant flowers, so I have tried to replicate with in my water colour flowers.

How to….

  • Flowers & Leaves
    • Using the Fluid 100 Water Colour Paper, I cut 3 sheets in half and coloured each sheet in a different colour. The bottles of Reinkers are the best to use for this technique as you may require a few drops of colour to get the depth of colour you want. Work with one sheet and one colour at a time, wet the sheet of water colour paper generously with a spray bottle of water. With a water painter add ink to the wet surface and let the colour spread. Don’t worry if the colour isn’t even, you want it to have texture – light and dark areas. Tilt the paper so the ink flows all over the paper, add more colour if you want more depth. I used the same technique in another card earlier in the year – Paper Florist Dies.
    • Once the water colour paper is dry die cut flowers and leaves.
    • The colours I used are..
      • Sweet Sorbet
      • Daffodil Delight
      • Orchid Oasis
      • Granny Apple Green
      • Mossy Meadow
    • The flower centers & stamen I cut from cardstock – Basic Black, Sweet Sorbet, Daffodil Delight and Orchid Oasis. The stamenn I also brushed with Wink of Stella for a bit of sparkle.
    • Adhere all the flowers together and set aside.
  • Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder
    • The Basic White card front I embossed with the Zinnia 3D Embossing Folder. This is a stunning embossing folder of zinnia flowers and leaves in a outline image. This just gives some texture behind the flowers and the impression of the flowerbed of Zinnias.
  • Sentiment
  • Card Insert
    • The card insert I stamped with the Zinnia flower stamp in Memento Tuxedo Black in the bottom right corner
    • The insert was matted with Basic Black cardstock

Just Kiddin’

Last night I created this fun ‘Kids’ card using the Just Kiddin’ Designer Series Paper. The paper is part of the Just Kiddin’ Suite Collection found on page 49 of the January – April 2024 Stampin’ Up! ® Mini Catalogue, which finishes at the end of April.

The Kiddin’ Around Stamps and Kiddin’ Around Dies will be available in the new Annual Catalogue but not as Kiddin’ Around Bundle (with the 10% discount). If you are wanting the discount grab them now!

As I only had the Just Kiddin’ Designer Series Paper, I used the Artistically Inked Stamps for the ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment. I love this stamp as it is simple and suits and age group, male or female card.

Template Tuesday

Today’s template is by Page Maps. I noticed that PageMaps have said they will no longer be doing Card Maps. Hopefully we can still access the PDF Archives for past Card Maps. PageMaps are a great resource for Scrapbook Page Maps also.

Chain Card Swap Blog Hop – Kayla

Round 5 Merriest Trees

I am so pleased that Merriest Trees is staying with us, I had so much fun playing with it.

When casing this card I used the elements of the 2 squares and made it 2 tags, I also added an extra layer of Designer Series Paper underneath the top layer. I love the Tailor Made Tags and will be sad to see them go…(I might hand onto them a bit longer)

Were to Start…Start this hop at Kayla so you get the progression

Follow the Hop around and see how these creations changed from start to finish…you might be surprised to see how these cards finished up!

Round 9 Simply Sparkling

This card was so much fun….I got to CASE a lovely friend of mine Kayla, I received her cards and got so excited for the layers and fun her card shared. So I hope mine also shares the same fun and excitement.

For this card I used the Simply Sparking Bundle and paired it up with the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper. The Simply Sparking Bundle is one of the Online Exclusives, a great Bundle for the young or young of heart.

I stamped my image with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, adding the swirl on the can with Berry Burst and the wording also with Memento Tuxedo Black. This was fun to colour using the Stampin’ Blends in Smoky Slate, Berry Burst and Bubble Bath.

  • Card Base – Lemon Lime Twist
  • Matte – Berry Burst
  • Card Front -Bright & Beautiful DSP
  • Basic White panel embossed with the Splatters Embossing Folder from the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folder Duo
  • 2 thin strips of Bright & Beautiful DSP
  • Bubbles cut from Bright & Beautiful DSP
  • Sentiment stamped in Tuxedo Black on Basic White

I love all the layers and the Kayla’s folded corner.

Round 2 – Circle Sayings

The design elements I used from the card I received were

  • The strips of Designer Series Paper on the card Base
  • 3 punched elements

Using the White Center 12 x 12 Specialty Paper, I tore strips showing the white core of the paper to add texture and maybe a hint of the ocean. These were then adhered to a Night of Navy Card Base.

I then punched 2 circles using the 2 3/4″ Punch that comes with the Circle Sayings Bundle in Azure Afternoon and Daffodil Delight Cardstock.

On a piece of Basic White Cardstock I stamped the ocean image from the Circle Sayings stamps in Memento Tuxedo Black. Using Blends this was then coloured – Daffodil Delight, Lemon Lolly, Azure Afternoon & Night of Navy.

Along the edges of the breaking waves I added a little white with the White Watercolour Pencils. This was then punched out with the 2 3/4″ Punch. A twist of White Bakers Twine under the stamped circle and a few Tinsel Gems added to finish the card.

Round 4 – Meandering Meadows

This card makes my heart sing….I love the way it turned out. I used Meandering Meadows Suite for this card, which you will find in the Online Exclusives.

For my card I changed the orientation of the card, from a landscape to a portrait. The back ground I stamped the small images with Fresh Freesia Ink onto Fresh Freesia cardstock.

A strip of Lemon Lolly cardstock adds a little extra colour next to the Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper.

A White Vellum circle was cut using the Deckled Circle Dies. The flower images were stamped using Basic Gray Ink and coloured with Blends…Granny Apple Green, Lost Lagoon, Shaded Spruce, Fresh Freesia, Lemon Lolly, Blueberry Bushel, Misty Moonlight and Daffodil Delight.

The sentiment was stamped in Fresh Freesia Ink.

I created this card CASING the card sent to me, using the Flowering Zinnias as my focal point.

With this card I am just letting the paper be the hero…it’s bold, beautiful and bright. I just love how alive it makes me feel.

The Flowering Zinnias 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Designer Series Paper will bring that pop of colour to any paper craft! Nelson Falls

Today I am taking part in ‘Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop’. I will be joining in with some amazingly talented Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from around the world. We are happy that you can join us and hope that we can Inspire you to make creations of your own. You will find the Links to the others participating below…..I hope you enjoy!

For my page I decided to use the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder, Stippled Roses Dies & Foursquare Decorative Masks from 2023-24 Stampin’ Up!® Annual & Jan- Apr 2024 Mini Catalogues.

Scrapbook page created using the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder and Foursquare Decorative Masks. Photo taken at Nelson Falls TAS.

How I created my page…

Photo

I only had one photo, 4 x 6″ to use for this lay out so to make it look a little bigger the photo was matted and then a second mat was off set to create a larger solid image.

Layout

I wanted this page to look a bit ‘grunge’… or ‘natural/earthy’.

Using Pebble Path Ink, Foursquare Decorative Masks and Blending Brushes I add ink to two corners of my Crumb Cake 12 x12″ Cardstock. I then went around the edges of the cardstock with both Pebble Path and Mossy Meadow Ink.

With the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder, Crumb Cake & Pecan Pie Cardstock cut the tree rings, one set from each colour. The Crumb Cake rings are cut down with the smaller die. These are then layered to create a two tone Tree Ring.

Die cut branches in Mossy Meadow and Old Olive from the Tree Ring Dies. I also added some Pebble Path die cuts, cut using the Stippled Roses Dies. These dies are lighter and just add some softness to the lay out.

I then added tree rings and branches from under the photo, 3 at the bottom corner and 1 from the top corner.

The title ‘ Nelson Falls’ was created with the Mini Alphabet Dies. This alphabet die is one piece die, Add a sheet of Adhesive Sheet to the back of the cardstock and run through the Cut & Embossing Machine. After taking out the letters required, the extra were put into a cello bag so can be used if required at a latter time.

Journaling

My jounaling for this layout is very simple…usually when you journal, it’s wise to think about when, were and who your photo is about. Or any story that maybe attached to your photo.

‘We arrived at Nelson Falls late in the afternoon, so camped along the side of the Lyell Highway. So we could take photos in a better light the following day’

This was a bit scary as the Highway went through the National Park with thick trees either side of the road. Also there was only a small parking area and our camper wasn’t very big. But it was worth it, the photo is amazing. This photo was taken approx. 30 years ago and this is the second time I’m scrapping them….that’s another story for another day.

Scrapbook page created using the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder and Foursquare Decorative Masks. Photo taken at Nelson Falls TAS.
