Chain Card Swap Blog Hop – Annette

Back in October 2023 I joined a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators to take part in a ‘Card swap with a Twist – Chain card Swap.

How does this work?

The swap is similar to an old fashioned chain letter or I would say…”Chinese Whispers with Cards’

  • We were given a list of names – 11 in total (not including myself)
  • Create a simple card
  • Send to first person on the list
  • Wait to receive a card from someone…
  • ‘CASE’ that card and send it to the 2nd person on your list
  • Repeat until all people on the list has received a card

Now this is the fun part….When you CASE the card you received, it’s your interpretation of the received card. Just like ‘Chinese Whispers’ you may not end up with what you originally designed

Round 10- Flowering Zinnias

I created this card CASING the card sent to me, using the Flowering Zinnias as my focal point.

With this card I am just letting the paper be the hero…it’s bold, beautiful and bright. I just love how alive it makes me feel.

The Flowering Zinnias 12″ x 12″ (30.5 x 30.5 cm) Designer Series Paper will bring that pop of colour to any paper craft! You can easily make card backgrounds from the greenery designs or fussy cut around one of the bright and beautiful zinnias. With flowers, stars, foliage, stripes, and more all bursting in beautifully bright tones, this paper will add vibrancy to all your cards, gift tags, paper banners, and other paper creations.

The Flowering Zinnias can be found in Online Exclusives on my Stampin’ Up! ® Online Store

Were to Start…Start this hop at Annette so you get the progression

Follow the Hop around and see how these creations changed from start to finish…you might be surprised.

Nelson Falls

Today I am taking part in ‘Scrapbook Sunday Blog Hop’. I will be joining in with some amazingly talented Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from around the world. We are happy that you can join us and hope that we can Inspire you to make creations of your own. You will find the Links to the others participating below…..I hope you enjoy!

For my page I decided to use the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder, Stippled Roses Dies & Foursquare Decorative Masks from 2023-24 Stampin’ Up!® Annual & Jan- Apr 2024 Mini Catalogues.

Scrapbook page created using the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder and Foursquare Decorative Masks. Photo taken at Nelson Falls TAS.

How I created my page…

Photo

I only had one photo, 4 x 6″ to use for this lay out so to make it look a little bigger the photo was matted and then a second mat was off set to create a larger solid image.

Layout

I wanted this page to look a bit ‘grunge’… or ‘natural/earthy’.

Using Pebble Path Ink, Foursquare Decorative Masks and Blending Brushes I add ink to two corners of my Crumb Cake 12 x12″ Cardstock. I then went around the edges of the cardstock with both Pebble Path and Mossy Meadow Ink.

With the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder, Crumb Cake & Pecan Pie Cardstock cut the tree rings, one set from each colour. The Crumb Cake rings are cut down with the smaller die. These are then layered to create a two tone Tree Ring.

Die cut branches in Mossy Meadow and Old Olive from the Tree Ring Dies. I also added some Pebble Path die cuts, cut using the Stippled Roses Dies. These dies are lighter and just add some softness to the lay out.

I then added tree rings and branches from under the photo, 3 at the bottom corner and 1 from the top corner.

The title ‘ Nelson Falls’ was created with the Mini Alphabet Dies. This alphabet die is one piece die, Add a sheet of Adhesive Sheet to the back of the cardstock and run through the Cut & Embossing Machine. After taking out the letters required, the extra were put into a cello bag so can be used if required at a latter time.

Journaling

My jounaling for this layout is very simple…usually when you journal, it’s wise to think about when, were and who your photo is about. Or any story that maybe attached to your photo.

‘We arrived at Nelson Falls late in the afternoon, so camped along the side of the Lyell Highway. So we could take photos in a better light the following day’

This was a bit scary as the Highway went through the National Park with thick trees either side of the road. Also there was only a small parking area and our camper wasn’t very big. But it was worth it, the photo is amazing. This photo was taken approx. 30 years ago and this is the second time I’m scrapping them….that’s another story for another day.

Scrapbook page created using the Tree Rings Hybrid Embossing Folder and Foursquare Decorative Masks. Photo taken at Nelson Falls TAS.

Enduring Beauty

On my Tuesday night ‘Live with Michele’ I created this card using Stampin’ Up!® Enduring Beauty Stamp. This stamp is part of a Enduring Beauty Bundle, the bundle includes stamps, dies and masks.

Measurements Used…

 ColourImperial/LetterMetric/A4
Card BaseBasic White4 ¼ x 11”, score @ 5 ½”10.5 x 29.9cm, score @ 14.9cm
Card MatLost Lagoon4 x 5¼”10 x 14.4cm

SentimentBerry Burst½ x 4¼”1.3 x 10.5cm
Sentiment MatLost Lagoon⅝ x 4¼”1.6 x 10.5cm

This is a simple card to create, masking an area off area approx 6 x 8cm (2¼ x 3½”) using masking paper or ‘Post it Note Paper’. You want the masked area to be smaller than the stamp image, so that it has some ‘black and white’ image. Make sure the outer edge of the card front is covered so ink doesn’t colour the areas you want clean.

Using a Blending Brush, start with Fresh Freesia Ink and brush in a circular motion down 2/3rds of card front. From top down add Berry Burst to the top third of the card. Blending the Berry Burst into the Fresh Freesia. This also hid where I added too much ink in the Fresh Freesia (see Video).

Working from bottom up add Lost Lagoon blending it into the Fresh Freesia. Remove the masking paper.

Using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, stamp the Enduring Beauty image over the top.

Our theme this month for the Let’s Craft Together Blog Hop is a ‘Designer Series Paper Challenge’ by Kayla Renee and I am using the Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up!®. I love this DSP , it has this lovely mix of bright/modern and a traditional softness. At the moment it seems to be my go to paper.

Unfortunately it’s not a paper you can purchase, but you can earn it for FREE when you spend $90 or more. The Flight & Airy Designer Series Paper is one of the many products in the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue

Instagram Story by Srusht Patil showing Tutorial of Pop Card .

I saw this card on Instagram a couple of weeks ago and decided to give it a try. The card made by Srusht is a large card format so I have reduced the measurements to fit with a standard card. I have made a few changes in using less DSP to suite what I was wanting to create.

The other day after completing ‘Live with Michele’ I had so many die cut pieces from the Jungle Pals Dies left over, I just had to make another card!

These colours on the Basic White are stunning, its a simple card with a matted front panel that I ran through with the Stripes & Splatters 3D Embossing Folder. The sentiment I used is from the Stippled Roses Stamp Set, I just wanted a simple and narrow sentiment.

Jungle Pals

I had so much fun yesterday on ‘Live with Michele’ creating this fun card. I used 3 NEW products from the Stampin’ Up! ® Sale-A-Bration Jan- Feb 2024 Catalogue – Jungle Pals Stamp Set, Heartfelt Hellos Stamp Set and Jungle Pals Dies.

These products are FREE when you purchase from any of our catalogues or from the Online Exclusives.

I coloured the Toucan using Stampin’ Blends. Did you know Toucan’s come in all different colours? I researched them on Google and in the end looked up cartoon images for the Toucan. He was fun to colour!

The colours I used were…

  • poppy Parade
  • Parakeet Party
  • Azure Afternoon
  • Daffodil Delight
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Basic Black

The back ground for this card was coloured using Granny Apple Green, Garden Green, Azure Afternoon and Blueberry Bushel inks with a Blending Brush.

I wanted this card to look lush and bright, with lots of layers of different greens creating depth and flowers in bright colours.

After the Live had wrapped up I decided to add the Black Adhesive Backed Sparkle Gems, as I felt it just need something to finish the flowers…to add a little bit of ‘POP!’

Stippled Roses

Today’s card I have used the Stippled Roses Bundle from the Stampin’ Up! ® Jan – April Mini Catalogue. This is a beautiful detailed stamp with coordinating Dies that not only cut the images out but extra elements as well.

The Softly Stippled Designer Series Paper used in this card can be found in the Jan – Feb Sale-A-Bration Catalogue. When you purchase the Stippled Roses Bundle for $94.50 (AUD) you can get the Softly Stippled DSP for FREE!

I chose to keep this card all the same in colour to also play on the same tone Designer Series Paper, but you could very easily add colour to the Roses and Leaves to change the look completely.

By adding the Vellum die cut leaves under the Pebble Path die cut leaves it softens the look, making it look just that little bit lighter and lacy.

Below is a link to my YouTube Video showing how I created this card.
