Global Design Project 078 | Sketch Challenge and Marbling

Hi! and Welcome to Butterflys and Bows

In my last post I shared a video by Stampin’ Up! on Marbling and the wonderful effects you can get with this technique.

Here are the pieces of card stock I marble in case you didn’t get to see them.

IMAG0108

Now they are nice and dry and ready to make into cards..so I have put together a simple card using the Sketch Challenge from Global Design Project

Here is the sketch and my completed card…

GDP078IMAG0116

I have used the same colours in the card as I used in the marbling...Wild Wasabi, Wisteria Wonder and So Saffron.

Zip Lock Bag Watercolouring – GDP # 076

Welcome back to my Blog..

Yes, I know 2 blogs in one day….pick yourself up……

I’ve been playing!

And I have completed another card for the Global Design project Challenge where we are CASing Kylie Bertucci

GDP076

Tonight I have been playing with a Watercolouring technique I saw on a Facebook Live video by Alisa Tilsner

called “Zip Lock Bag Watercolouring”.

It was a lot of fun and a bit messy but then Alisa did warn it was messy.

Here is what I came up with…I think I still need some practice.

IMAG0014

I’m keeping this short as I need to get some beauty sleep, off to Sydney tomorrow to the craft show at Rosehill Racecourse.

IMAG0017

Its simlar to two other watercolour techniques except this one uses a “Snaplock bag”, Ink and water.

Global Design Project 076 | Case the Designer

Hi and Welcome,

to this weeks challenge from the Global Design Project.

This week we are CASing Kylie Bertucci….

I love the simplicity of her cards, they are always every bold and sticking.

GDP076

Just a reminder or if your new to my Blog here is what CASE means-

CASE a project you can Copy And Selectively Edit – so take what you like from the design and make it your own. It might be the stamp set – the colours, the layout, the flowers, whatever you like that has inspired you to make a card of your own.

Here is my CASE of Kylie’s card, I have gone with the design of her card. I love the full length panel, with just a slight trim along the edges. I have added an extra matte to tie the theme of the card together.

The Designer Series Paper and Balloon Adventure Stamp Set comes from the Occasions Catalogue.

I hope you enjoy my card.

IMAG0012

The inside of the card is simple with a Birthday sentiment and Balloon.

Global Design Project 075 | Theme Challenge

Welcome!

What a week…

Gee its gone fast.

I don’t know about you but time is flying, this morning when I woke up I was thinking its what day Tuesday….

Nooooooooo!

Its Wednesday already and I have so much to do today!

And there’s so much I’m behind on.

Last week I’m sorry but I completely forgot Global Designer Challenge…..it closes on Monday (I think) and they announce the winner/s Monday night.

And I thought better go and have a look and then thought what did I do for it, I can’t remember. The reason I couldn’t remember was because I’d forgotten – BLONDE MOMENT!

I even had it all worked out in my head…..

So I’m not forgetting this week!

The Theme is week is ……….

GDP075

Now the way this card came to being……

Stampin’ Up! puts out each year some beautiful rangers of Designer Series Paper (DSP) and like most, I buy it….it beautiful so this is what you do..you buy it!

Then what do you do with it…well it sits on the shelf looking pretty….and looking pretty..on the shelf!

YEP!…I’m the same as you, its there on the self looking pretty!

Well a lovely friend Kylie Bertucci is really encouraging ALL of us to #loveitchopit

Get it of the shelf and use it, chop it up, put it on cards and let others enjoy it too!

I purchased the “Sending Love DSP Stack”, great little 15 x 15 cm (6 x 6″) packs of lovely papers great for Valentines Day.

142733

Well Valentines been and Gone…

So what do we do with the left over papers…use it of course!

One of the lovely papers is a spot.

I used Basic Black for the card and Whisper White as the under layer with the Real Read and White Spot as the base of my card.

the thought here was to keep the card simple…and I needed to add a

 WINGED CREATURE….that’s the brief….

a Butterfly, a white butterfly……NOOOOoo!

I ended up with a scrap of Whisper White and some daubers and ink pads….Crushed Curry, Pacific point and Real Red.

I sponged the cardstock with the Crushed Curry and Pacific Point…mix these together and you get ….”GREEN”…don’t you!

IMAG2298

At this point using the Butterfly Thinlits and the Big Shot I cut out the butterfly, but its a bit too green.

So I kept going…this wouldn’t be a Michele card unless it MORFS some how.

The two colours were not right with the Real Red and white spot DSP…So added some real Red to the wings.

A little Vellum under to lift from the back ground….still needs something.

(The vellum is adhered under the butterfly in a few concealed spots)

Add some leaves from the Botanical Builder Framelits a bit of silver thread and don’t forget some BLING!

And here is this weeks Creation….Hope its worth the wait..

Global Design Project 073 | Colour Challenge

Hi! Welcome to my Blog…

How have you all been coping with the extreme heat we have been having over the last few days?

Thankfully it has now cooled down here in Moss Vale and tonight I should be able to get a good nights sleep.

Today I have been playing along with this weeks colour challenge.

GDP_Colour_Challenge73_PNGToday I have made two cards and both are very different.

One is softer and the other very bright in colour.

IMAG2264

With this card i used the Floral Phases Stamp Set.along with the Stampin’ Write Markers.

I coloured in each section of the stamp with the markers and then breathed on the stamp to re-moist

and stamped on the Card.

IMAG2267

Earlier today I watched a great video by Patty Bennett –

How to stamp the High Tide Lighthouse and watercolor background from Stampin’ UP!

I loved the way she did the water colour background. I have done this before but only colouring the block with the markers.

Patty used the Stamp pads to colour the “Block” and which gives the strength and brightness of colour.

the flower was then embossed with Black embossing Powder..

Enjoy!

Delicate Details & Flourishing Details Thinlits….

This week I’m taking part in 2 challenges ……

Global Design Project #GDP072 -This week we are casing  Krista Fratin.

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit.

Colour INKspiration Challenge #02

Neutrals such as Black, Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Kraft, Sahara Sand and Metallic’s can also be used.

These beautiful soft colours work well together and the Garden Green even though is a strong colour works in well.

I have teamed these colours Sahara Sand which has a slight green tone to the soft neutral colour.

IMAG2241

  • The card front is stamped with the Delicate Details from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue in Mint Macaron.
  • The edges sponged in Wisteria Wonder and then sponged on top with the Mint Macaron just to soften the Wisteria Wonder.
  • The card front is adhered to a Garden Green matte and then attached to Card Base .
  • From the Flourish Details Thinlits cut 2 sets of leaves in Garden Green and Mint Macaron, large flower In Wisteria Wonder and a smaller flower in Whisper White.
  • Using the Laying Squares cut our one of the larger scalloped squares in Garden Green.
  • In the Sky Blue cut a smaller square from the Stitched Shapes framelits, in the left top corner stamp “Hello” from the Flourishing Phases Stamp Set.
  • Layer the two squares and attach the two flowers in the bottom right corner and attach Dimenosionals on the back.
  • Adhere the leaves on the card front and then the square with flower on top.

Enjoy the Little Things…Global Design Project 070 | Sketch Challenge

“Enjoy the Little Things”….

How often do we forget to “Enjoy the Little Things”,

we spend so much time worrying about all the different things that life throws at us that we forget to “Enjoy the Little Things”.

This week, Global Design Project has challenged us with a Sketch Challenge.

GDP070Funny things is …I started my card the day before the challenge came out.

IMAG2197a

Last week I did a water colour card using these same colours.

Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise and Peekaboo Peach.

This was a fun card to do and a simple card to do but I think very effective.

With this card I masked off the bottom section of the card and then sponged the colour blending them one into another.

A Bokeh effect was created by adding drops of water onto the sponged area and letting it dry, the water moving the colour to form lighter areas.

The sentiment was stamped with Basic Black – Archival Ink, this will with stand any water and not bleed. Splatters of ink was added with the same 6 colours used in the sponging.

This was done by watering the ink down with an Aqua Painter and tapping the Aqua Painter against another bush to form the splatters across the card front.

Just take care when doing this as the splatters will go everywhere and I mean everywhere.

Beautiful You – Global Design Project 069 | Colour Challenge

Talk about leaving things to the last minute…..today is the last day for this challenge. Luckily I knew what I wanted to achieve…

something simple and elegant.

I knew what stamp set I wanted to use but some of the components I needed I didn’t have.

Its amazing sometimes what you can come up with if time is running out…LOL, but its not something I recommend doing, can also be a bit stressful.

Welcome to the Global Design Project #GDP069 – Colour Challenge

GDP069“Here is our colour challenge this week the fun part is you get to choose one of the colours to add in.”

The stamp set I’m using is called “Beautiful You” by Stampin’ Up! and it is found in the 2017 Occasions Catalogue.

If you don’t have a copy and you live in Australia let me know and I will get one to you ASAP.

This set is becoming a favorite for many but as soon as I saw it I loved it and for many reasons.

  • Its beautiful
  • stylish
  • Simple
  • Fun
  • quotes are awesome and could be used on so many different cards

This list could go on and on……but for me one stamp meant more than to me than the others. It reminded me of a drawing I have and love.

It was done by Grandmother and it was done when my father would have been a child.

IMAG2194Pencil Drawing by Gladys May Harris (nee – Duncan)

“The cloche hat or simply cloche is a fitted, bell-shaped hat for women that was invented in 1908 by milliner Caroline Reboux,

especially became popular from about 1922 to 1933. Its name is derived from cloche, the French word for “bell”.”https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloche_hat

A more in depth history on this hat can be found here – https://startupfashion.com/fashion-archives-history-cloche-hat/

alc-divider-flourish-sidebar-250x15

So of course I card is of the elegant lady wearing a Closhe….“life looks beautiful on you” or on her!

The colours for this challenge are Delightful Dijon, Silver and one other of your choice. I just went with “Black” as I wanted to keep this looking very elegant, slightly formal and simple.

IMAG2193

This stamp is a simple “outline” stamp with another stamp that gives you a stylized wash for the dress.

I have added a  layer on the black of the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate using the silver side (gold on other side).

Very simple and easy to do, a stamp set I real recommending you getting..

Keep Stampin’

Global Design Project 066 | Sketch Challenge

Welcome to Butterflys and Bows…

i hope you are enjoying my Blog as much I have in bring it to you.

Please feel free to leave a comment, love hearing what people think of my work.

This week Global Design Project have given us a Sketch Challenge.

gdp066

To get a bit of an idea to what you could do with this sketch check out what the team has done. Also have a look at some of the other entries….maybe you could give it a go.Click on the Sketch above and it will take you to this weeks Challenge page at GDP.

You don’t have to be a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator to give this a go, use the link above and have a look at the Guidelines.

Now…my card for this weeks challenge.

I have fallen in love with the Stampin’ Up! Watercolour Pencils that will be available in the coming Occasions Catalogue. Don’t forget to contact me to receive your free copy plus the Sale-A- Bration catalogue.

These Watercolour pencils are in our Stampin’ Up! colours unlike the ones we had a few years back. So they match all our products beautifully, just one of those wonderful things that Stampin’ Up! is known for……………….There co-ordination!

imag1814

The image I have stamped onto Shimmery White cardstock with Memento Ink. The Shimmery white card stock can be used for watercolouring …I have found that you need to let each layer dry a little before adding more colour and blending. As it can still pill a little if the area has been over worked. So I always do a small part at a time then come back and add more colour.

Also sometimes I will use 2-3 colours of pencil in one area before coming in with my Blender Pen…the colours will mix a little and blend in well.

I hope you have enjoyed my little card as much I have in making it.

Contact me to find out more about the Watercolour Pencils..they are a must and will make any watercolour project so much easier to achieve.

Below you will find a list of all the products used, just click on them and it will take you directly to my Stampin’ Up! Store. The only product not shown below are the Watercolour Pencils as they won’t be avilable to purchase until 4th January…so I’m sorry you will have to wait…but it will be worth it!

Global Design Project 065 | Colour Challenge – Hey, Chick!

I couldn’t resist it!

I really enjoyed working this this weeks Global Design Project Colour Challenge #065, so much I had to do another card.

gdp065

I had this card in mind the other day but I hadn’t received my pre-order for the Occasions Catalogue as yet, so I had to wait.

Well my order is here and so is the stamp set I so wanted share it with you.

Now this stamp set is one that has had to grow on me. At first I didn’t really like it that much but then seeing what others had done , it very quickly became a “I MUST GET”.

The stamp set is called “Hey, Chick”, it’s a Sale-A-Bration set and you can get this stamp set FREE when you spending $90.

Its a fun and it will be interesting to see how its going to be used. I think it will also be good for a “Hen’s Night”, what do you think?

imag1747

I have used the same technique  with this card as I did the last one, stamping  the image with the Early Espresso Ink and used my blender pen to move the ink about. But this time I have used some Real Red on her breast, head, tail and Crumb Cake on the feathers as well. After doing this I still felt this little chick needed some sparkle to bring her to life…so why not a bit of bling. Us girls can never have too much “BLING”, can we!

So there is just a touch of Gold Wink of Stella!

The back ground of this card I stamped with all the Chick images…now she looks like she is talking to one of the other girls.

To keep to the earthy country feel to this card (with Bling of course) I wrapped the card front with Real Red Bakers Twin and Linen thread.

Anyway hope you like my card, have a great day!
