Colour Challenge – In-Colours

This month the Casually Crafting Design Team are participating in a colour challenge to share with you…using the 2021-22 In-colours as our inspiration.

Colour Challenge by Casually Crafting

I am really loving this years In-Colours and they all work so well together. For my card I have used the Prized Peony Stamps by Stampin’ Up! to stamp the flowers in Fresh Freesia, Polished Pink and Pale Papaya. Filling in the gaps with leaves stamped in Soft Succulent.

Prized Peony by Stampin' Up! stamped in different colours from the 2021-22 In-Colours

Instructions

  • Adhere the Evening Evergreen Designer Series Paper to the Card Base.
  • Masks – Stamp at least 2 images of the Peony onto post-it notes and fussy cut.
  • Stamp the first image onto Basic White Cardstock using Polished Pink ink, cover image with one of the masks. Stamp the second image overlapping the masked image in Fresh Freesia ink, cover the new image with the second mask and then stamp again using Pale Papaya ink.
  • Keep covering the previously stamped image and repeat stamping until the Basic White cardstock is covered.
  • Leave a few white space around the Peony’s which can be filled with leaves stamped in Soft Succulent.
  • Trim down the stamped cardstock down to 7 x 14.6cm
  • Adhere the Soft Succulent mat to the stamped Card Front
  • Wrap White Backers Twine around the Card Front 3 times and tie off with a bow.
  • Add dimensionals to the back of card front and attach to the matted Card Base, positioning it towards the left side of the card base.
  • Stamp the sentiment onto the Basic White cardstock sentiment piece, using the Evening Evergreen Ink. Trim the width down to 2.5cm and flag the left hand side using the Banners Pick A Punch. Trim the right hand side straight, add dimensionals to the back of the sentiment. Put two dimensionals on top of one another and attach to the right hand side of the sentiment so it sits flat across the two leavels.
  • Add some of the using the 2021-22 In-Colour Jewels
  • Adhere the Card Insert into the inside of the card Base.

Butterfly Bouquet

Hi and welcome today to my Blog.

Butterfly Bouquet uses products from the Butterfly Brilliance Collection released in March. I love the crispness of the White on White with just some colour with the leaves and Butterfly.

This card was created along with a Tutorial for my March Newsleter.

The beautiful Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper is only available until 3rd May ( 2 more days) but you could easily swap the DSP Butterfly out for a Stamped and coloured or die cut Butterfly from the Butterfly Brilliance Bundle that is now available in the Annual Catalogue.

The frame was created with the Ornate Frame Dies and the Stitched Rectangles Dies by placing the Stitched Rectangle inside the Frame die and cutting together.

The frame looks like its floating above the mat and this can be achieved by using the Foam Adhesive Strips.

This tutorial was given to those that follow me through my Newsletter. If you would like to receive my Newsletter plus the monthly Free Tutorial Click on the link below.

Sailing Home – April Creativity Abounds Blog Hop

Welcome to Creativity Abounds Blog Hop.   We are a group of very keen Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators from all around the world that are coming together to share our creative ideas with you.  We are happy that you can join us and hope that we can Inspire you to make creations of your own.

Our them this month is MASCULINE…I am a mother of 4 boys and I always have trouble making cards for them. So this has been a good challenge to come up with a masculine card.

Sailing Home by Stampin' Up! Coloured using Blending Brushes and masking

For this card I used the Sailing Home Stamp set and coordinating dies Smooth Sailing. The ocean was created by masking with a torn piece of paper and using the Blending Brushes to create waves. To create the sun I made a mask by cutting a circle using the Layering Circle Dies and brushing the colour on.

After creating the background I stamped on the sailing boat image using Memento Black Ink and coloured it in with Blends- Soft Suede and Poppy Parade

Card Measurements

  • Card Mat Basic Black – 10 x 14.4cm
  • Card Front Basic White – 9.7 x 14.1cm
  • Card Insert Basic White – 10 x 14.4cm

Instructions –

  • Cut all required cardstock, score and fold card base
  • Run Basic White card front through Stampin’ Cut & Emboss machine using the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Adhere the Basic White card front to the Basic Black card mat using Multi-purpose Glue or Stampin’ Seal.
  • Adhere matted card front to the Basic White card base using Multi-purpose Glue or Stampin’ Seal.
  • Stamp the Butterfly images onto Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper using Stazon Black ink Pad. Stazon is a Acid Free, permanent ink for stamping images to watercolour. Stazon can also be used for non-porus surfaces like Window sheets. To make the stamping of the butterflies easy and to make sure to get a clear image I used the Stamparatus, reinking and stamping a couple of times. I added the silicon sheet under the watercolour paper to get a little extra height and help get a good ink coverage.
  • Once the Stazon ink has dried you can start water colouring using the Water Painter and reinkers.
  • Water colour the butterflies
    • Work on one butterfly at a time
    • give the butterfly a light wash of water over the top before adding colour.
    • Add light layers of colour building up to the colour you want.
    • Start with the lightest colour and add darker colour as highlights.
    • Let each colour dry slightly before adding more or another colour
    • Let butterflies dry completely.
  • On a plate mix a small amount of multi-purpose glue and water to get a slightly runny consistency. Using a old paint brush lightly splatter the watered down glue onto the large butterfly. Let the glue dry until tacky. Add Gilded Leaf to the tacky glue and rub away the excess with a soft brush.
  • Die cut the butterflies using the coordinating die from the bundle.
  • Add dimensionals to the back of the butterflies down the length of body and attach to the card front
  • Add insert to the inside of the card.
