Catching Up and Family Traditions

This week has been about playing catch up with my scrapbooks using retired products from Stampin’ Up!.

The pages for 2008 were finished a while back but need to go back and finish the journalling. Do you know how hard it is to remember 10 years ago to what we were doing..

It really does pay off to scrap as you go through out the year…have to remember that if I go back in time this is what I would change..

Family Traditions..

When my boys were younger every Christmas I would drag them (Yes…drag..usually complaining all the way) to the local shopping center to have the “Photo with Santa”..

This photo was taken  in 2009 and I’m not sure if there are many more after this. Out of my 4 boys only 2 would make me happy and  have this done…

and how special are these moments.

Don’t leave your memories too long to get them into albums and jot down what its all about…Because before for you know it the years have gone and the memories start to fade.

All products used are retired from Stampin’ Up!

If you need any help in getting started I am happy to help..

Petal Passion Memories & More from Stampin’ Up!

The Best Ever…

The Petal Passion Suite from the Occasions Catalogue includes Memories & More Cards 145592 which are perfect for cards, tags and Scrapbook pages, to preserve your memories.

I have used the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper 145589 in my page design and then used one of the cards as part of the accent of the page.

Other accents used were created with the Petal Passion Stamp Set and Petals & More Thinlits Dies Bundle 145974

To create texture I used all the papers in the collection, with different widths and lengths. The black and white helps to enhance the photo’s and allows the colour to “POP”.

The pocket page I also added a piece of the Designer Series Paper along with a Journal Box sticker and some of the same accents used on the main page. Here I have also added another card from the pack to add the details from the day.

This was a beautiful day…we went to Canberra to visit our son. We meet for lunch and then he took us to the National Arboretum Canberra.

At the Arboretum they had an amazing display of Bonsai from such a verity of trees including Gum Trees.

Hope you have enjoyed my post…I must do more Scrapbook pages to share with you.

If you are interested in learning more about memory keeping I have a Memories and More Class on the last Friday of each month.

If you have any questions please contact me.

Stampin’ Up! Stamparatus

About a week ago a box from Stampin’ Up! arrived on my door step and I was so excited….I new what was in that box and I have been waiting for this since the beginning of the year.

My Stamparatus

This was so exciting….now what will I do, what will I make. I pulled out the Baby Bear 141859 stamp set. This is a stamp set I love but have only used once before as its a 3 set stamp and was never really happy with what I had stamped with just using the blocks and trying to line everything up.

So played with just stamping the Baby Bear image over and over, just to get the hang of it. Still need to stand up to get everything lined up, but that’s OK because once you have it set up once and if your making multiples of the same card its all set.

Stampin’ Up! have made 3 YouTube Video’s on how to use and they are worth while watching just to see what you can do. Below are the links to these videos.

Precision Placement – https://youtu.be/kSCoGyNLNd4

Aligning with Red Rubber Stamps – https://youtu.be/xWt-_YdYJfc

Creating Patterns with the Hinge-Step Technique – https://youtu.be/NfwgdoUReLQ

What did I end up making with the Baby Bear

Here I have used the Stamparatus in two different ways…

The first was to create the wording down the side of the card, this took a bit of time and playing around as I wanted the two lines to be in two different colours and also spaced evenly between top to bottom of the card.

To do this, I treated it as if it was a 2 step stamp. Each phrase was on each plate (the Stamparatus comes with 2 plates). Once positioned on each plate I held them up together to see if the phrases were in the correct position and then did a test run. When the position was correct it was just a matter of stamping the first phrase down the side of the card by moving the plate down the hinge. Then repeating it again with the second plate and using a different colour ink.

Baby Bear image was stamped on the other side of the card again using the Stamparatus and 3 step stamping.

To finished the card I used the Eclipse Technique to frame the bear.

Hope you enjoy my card. If you have any questions please contact me.
Below are links to all the products used in this card. The Stamparatus will be available later in the year.

Brusho and Stampin’ Up! Pattern Party Decorative Masks.

Brusho and Stampin’ Up! Pattern Party Decorative Masks.

I love the way this background effect has turned out, it has a tie dye feel to it. Almost that “Free Hippee, fun loving effect”

So to continue with that feel I kept the card very basic as the back ground is the focal point. Just a hint of contrast in colour with the Daffodil Delight and Old Olive flowers from the Petals and More Thinlets Dies.

Even the sentiment and font used has that earthy free movement to it.

The font used is from the Beautiful Day stamp set.

You can find a video on my YouTube Channel on how I achieved this effect called “Masks and Brusho”.

But there is one change I would do when trying this again. On the video I wet the watercolour paper first, instead of doing that lay the mask on the dry paper and then sprinkle the Busho, adding a light spray of water after. This way you will get more white space as above because the Brusho will not work on dry areas. If there is too much white space then give another light spray with water to move the colour about.

Have fun, play around….its trial and error. See what you come up with.

I have added links below to all of the products used and remember when you spend $90 from any of our catalogues you can choose an item for FREE from the Sale-A-Bration cataloges (including the extra SAB products just released)

Hope you have enjoyed my post and thanks for reading. If I can answer any questions for you please contact me.

Traveler’s Diary ….

When life gets so busy and you get to the end of the week…I looked back to find what I had missed….

And it was YOU!

So what have I been doing….it seems I am always on the computer. Looking for ideas searching the net, looking at Facebook. It never seems to end.

I have to sit at the start of each week and plan out my week or nothing gets done. And what better way to do this but with a planner or Diary, a book to jot down Tasks, Events, plans or ideas. Something that fits in your purse or bag that’s handy, something that is all about you and your life. A reflection of your day to day life.

A book to write about your travels, what you have seen, your thoughts or your feelings….a book to use for Prayer Points and Bible Study Notes….

A collection of books held together in one cover, with pockets to add things you need to keep or memorabilia of special events.

Here is my version of a Traveler’s Diary….its fits in my bag. I have used one of my favorite Designer Series Papers.

It has 3 books for notes, a basic month by month calendar and somewhere for photo’s of my family.

If you are interested in learning how to make one of these I will be running a workshop (in Australia), detailed below.

After this class I will post a Tutorial on this.

Any questions about this or anything else please contact me.

Epic Celebrations from Stampin’ Up!

Fun, fun…FUN!

This stamp set screams out “Fun and youth”.

You can receive Epic Celebration Stamp Set 147236 for FREE when you spend $90. It is found on page 12, Stampin’ Up! Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

I used the image of the shoes as the focal point of the card. The image was stamped onto Whisper White Cardstock 106549 with Memento Ink 132708.

Stampin’ Up! Blends in Night of Navy (Dark and Medium Combo) 144040 was used to colour the shoes. With shading on the toes and side walls done in Smoky Slate Stampin’ Pad 131179 and Blender Pen 102845. Using Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies145372 and the medium size circle cut out the shoes. A length of Gold Mini Sequence Trim 144128 was added to the back and held down with dimentionals.

Banner was stamped and embossed in white on Basic Black cardstock 121688.

The back ground of this card was done using Brusho 144101.

Once the watercolour paper 122959 was coloured and allowed to dry, the brick mask from Pattern Party Decorative Masks 144103 was placed over the top and sprayed with water. The water pulls the colour away from the areas not covered by the mask. After a few minutes the mask is removed and the watercolour paper allowed to dry again. You are left with a light brick pattern.

The Front panel is mounted on Basic Black and Berry Burst cardstock 144249 and then onto a Whisper White card base.

Thank you for visiting my Blog, if you have any questions please contact me.

Look….. just buy it all, you’ll get free product too! And that’s always good, RIGHT!

FREE PRODUCT!

Yep! You heard right spend $90 (AU) and you can choose a product from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue.

Not sure how them ask me…and I will help you..SPEND

Opps! I meant to say, I’ll help you place your order……

OK…lets get back to today’s fun card…

SEE!…..I told you it was a fun card.

Besides the colouring technique with Brusho, I also did the Eclipse technique..that is where you cut letters from the design and layer them to sit higher.

Instead of use single letters, I used the Happy Birthday Thinlets 143700. It was like putting together a “JIGSAW”, good thing I like doing jigsaws.

So if you like a bit of a challenge then give this card a go!

Here’s a couple of hints..

  • With the Brush dry each colour before adding the next.
  • Be careful not to loose those tiny little bits you need to glue in..I only lost one and it was the smallest
  • After cutting out Happy Birthday from card front, adhere the card front to matting layer. Place the Happy Birthday back on top and glue in all the little pieces. Making sure to lift the words so they don’t stick down.
  • Cut out 2 extra “Happy Birthday’s” and adhere on top of each other. Then attach the top colourful Happy Birthday on top.

If you have any questions then please contact me.

Below I have listed all the products used and they are linked back to my Store..
