Global Design Project #026 | Sketch Challenge

It’s “Sketch Challenge Week”, love Sketch Challenge’s

because someone else has come up with the card design and I just have to add my design elements to it.

Well…..I can play around with it, its the inspiration.

This weeks Challenge was designed by Teneale Williams.

Sketch Challenge.Really like this one….so much you can do.

Here is my take on Teneale’s layout.

I have kept it very simple as I wanted the Water Colour to be the focus.

I have done this technique before and really love it, because you don’t know what you are going to end up with.

I  used a product called ” Frog Tape”, delicate surface , a painters tape which I purchased from “Masters”

My edges didn’t come out as crisp as I would have liked ..but I’m not worried as I think it adds to the beauty and flightiness of the butterfly.

It is a little fiddly cutting the masking and then placing it on the card stock, but I made my join down the middle to make it easy.

I love the richness of the colours and they worked well with the Bohemian Designer Series Paper.

Hope you enjoy…

It has a bit of fun in it.

Global Design Project #025 | Colour Challenge

This weeks challenge from the Global Design Project Team is a …

“COLOUR CHALLENGE”

and what are the colours they have chosen for us today…

Colour ChallengeInteresting…not colours I use a lot, but that’s good because it’s a “challenge”.

While I’m making this card I was watching last nights re-run of “My Kitchen Rules”

Did you see it? I’m enjoying this years show but anyway…

as I was putting this card together all I could think of was..

Is it Balanced?

Do I have all the elements?

The same questions the contestant’s where asking of them selves I was asking of me…..and these are also important not just for cooking but for any craft.

Always sit back and look at what you have created, sometimes squinting at it can help- it makes the obvious stick out as being wrong or not quite right. (an embroiders trick)

My card today I have water coloured the flower and leaves on Shimmery White card stock…remember to use Stazon Ink to stamp image……

my first one I didn’t and couldn’t work out why it was bleeding!  (silly, silly)

I then “Fussy Cut” my rose and leaves…..but years ago I learn’t a great trick…I use a glass plate and a scalpel (knife).

I have a piece of glass from a picture frame which I have folded masking tape to the edges to make it safe. This allows me to move

the paper freely while folding the scalpel and the blade doesn’t get stuck as it would if using a self-healing mat.

I then went around all the cut edges with a black marker to remove the white.

I balanced my card with a velum banner with the sentiment and some pearls coloured with the Blendabilities I still have.

The banner was adhered to the card with a glue dot under the pearl and under the rose.

The inside of the card I have kept very simple and mounted the Whisper White card stock onto a piece of Smoky Slate and stamped the rose image in

Daffodil Delight.

Hope you enjoy this card as much as I had fun making it.

Wow!….I’m on a roll!

Wow!…..I’m on a roll!

But it is so easy when you have beautiful stamps and the most amazing papers to use.

A few years back when I was looking for a business to become involved with, I was looking for something different, fresh and up with the times.

And I think Stampin’ Up! have been all that and more…

The people are great , the company is helpful and the product is of a high quality.

I love using these great products….

So back to the beginning of this article….I’m on a roll.

I’m loving these beautiful stamps and coordinating papers from both the Occasional Catalog and the Sale-A-Bration Catalog.

Your in my Thoughts and Prays….and Botanical Gardens

With this card I wanted to try something a bit different and only have a half front.

In the Botanical Builder Framelits I have used the piece….and I have just realised I have used it wrong way around. My

leaves are pointing down…O’well…I still like it.

I did it this way to get the shaping I wanted on that half of card.

The sentiment which I have used from Rose Wonder is stamped on the lower right corner of the card.

The flowers and leaves I cut from scraps of card stock, this is the beauty of this set you can use up all those scraps.

Hope you enjoy my cards..please leave any comments as I would love to hear from you.

Flowering Fields

I saw this stunning card on Pinterest and I had to give it a try……it is CASed from Tracy May. Whose Wed site is called “Bedlam and Butterflies” (Click on Bedlam and Butterlies to see Tracy’s Blog)

Which I think is pretty cool considering mine is Butterflys and Bows”….we both must have a love of Butterflies.

Anyway I loved the simplicity of the card….the Flowering Fields is a very simple yet delicate stamp set and is set off with the water colour back ground.

The background was created with Stampin’ Write Markers coloured onto the acrylic block, then spritzed with water and stamped down onto water colour paper.

The trick to this is to hold it down for a few minutes until the water is starting to be absorbed into the paper and when you lift have a tissue or paper towel handy to dab the water.

The stamp was then coloured with the Stampin’ Write Markers and stamped.

I’m really pleased with the way this has turned out.

My Boy…….

Twelve months ago my second son joined the Australian Defense Force ……the Navy.

This year he has moved to Canberra to ADFA to complete 3 years of University. He has just finished a 6 week training course for all joining ADFA.

So yesterday we all got up bright and early to travel to Canberra to see him on Parade.

What a beautiful day, everyone looked so smart in their Uniforms. The way they march, turn and keep in time is amazing.

Catching up with him and spending a few hours with him was wonderful.
