This week we are CASing the Designer –   Copy and Selectively Edit.
The lucky designer is Michelle Last, love her card ….
Love BLUE….anything BLUE and I’m hooked and then with the butterfly added…
I’m in seventh heaven.
Have you seen it?
Here it is!
GDP024
Isn’t it beautiful, so cool, so refreshing.ahhhhh! Love it!
To see the cards done by the rest of the Design team click HERE
BUT!
I didn’t use blue nor butterfly’s…I decided to do something a little different.
I used the layout as it also caught my eye and I wanted to have a play with a new set I just bought.
So here is my card.
2016-02-25 17.45.39
Don’t know if it had to do with the weather as its very hot!
But I used what I would call warm tropical colours instead of the lovely cool blue tones.
Love this new set of Framelits – Botanical Builder Framelits Dies,
the matching Designer Series Paper – Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper
and co-ordination card stock –  Botanical Gardens Cardstock Pack
 along with Mint Macaron.
The Happy Birthday came from Rose Wonder Photopolymer Stamp Set
The inside of the card I used a smaller flower and a strip of the designer series paper mounted on white with a Mint Macaron boarder.

Hope you enjoyed my card….see you next week.

Wow! a major milestone for him…..and my husband and I survived!

One down and 3 to go!

I’m still trying to sort invitations and venues….then Global Design Project said this weeks challenge was…..

GDP023

Now Aaron is an outdoor sort of boy, he’s been a Scout and now is a Leader, is a member of RFS- Rural Fire Service and is a diesel mechanic….

what great opportunity to make him a card.

I wanted to do something that had a masculine feel to it.

A CRATE…..with an EXPLOSION of BALLOONS coming out of it…

Had never done a Card in a Box before, this will be interesting!

IMAG0509

IMAG0507

I stamped my box and extra card stock with the Hardwood stamp and then cut it up to create the reinforced sides of the crate.

The balloons was stamped with Balloon Celebration and highlighted with Wink of Stella- Clear.

The large numbers cut from Glimmer Paper makes them pop out from amongst the balloons.

The Instructions for the box I used the You Tube clip by Tanya Bell.

GDP022

Coming up to Valentines I thought I’d do a card using the Bloomin’ Love Stamp set,

but I wanted it to be a card you could give to a friend and that could be used at other times in the year.

IMAG0499

I wanted this card to be soft and pretty….something “GIRLY”

I sponged the floral heart in Mint Macaron and Crisp Cantaloupe (deleted colour).

With a bit of Mint Macaron Lace wraped around the card and a butterfly cut from vellum, with a row of pearls and a touch of gold thread

finishes it of as a beautiful card to give to that special friend on any occasion.

Slider Card with a Hidden Gift

Patrick my son was invited to a friends Birthday party and he want to give his friend cash as a gift.

So I decided to make it some fun and make a Slider Card that when you pulled the money popped out on the other side.

Have never made one before..the first one I made failed…BIG TIME!

But the second attempt worked wonderfully.

Global Design Project #021 Colour Challenge

This weeks Challenge from Global Design Project is a colour challenge set by Brian King…..

Love the colours he has chosen but I don’t think I have used them together before.

GDP021

IMAG0441

On today’s card I decided to do a water colour wash for the back ground with the three colours.

Starting with the Wisteria Wonder,

next Bermuda Bay and lastly Melon Mambo. I did them in this order because I found through trial and

error that the Melon Mambo was too strong and can be over powering if used too heavily. So by starting with the lighter colour and then adding the stronger colours,

I had more control and could see where I needed to add more.

The ribbon is a piece of Seam Binding Ribbon in Crumb Cake (discontinued colour) and as it wasn’t in the colours I wanted I dyed it using the Ink from the ink pads. Its a messy technique but can be fun to do.

You may have to come to one of my classes to learn a bit more about how I did it.

The beautiful rose came from the NEW Rose Garden Thinlits Die which I cut out in the Wisteria Wonder

A simple tag from cut from Very Vanilla and with the “Thank You” sentiment from “Rose Wonder” stamped in Melon Mambo ink. Tied on with Gold Metallic Thread.

The Rose Garden Thinlits and Rose Wonder stamps are from the Occasional Catalog and can be purchased as a bundle.

Gum Leaves and Gumnuts

I am always looking for new ways to use products to give me different effects.

The other day one of my Stampin’ Up! colleges posted an article about using Painters tape as a mask, but it was a special type of tape.

It was called “Frog Tape”,anyway I did some research as this tape can only be bought through Masters and I don’t have one near me.

I found that 3M put out a “Blue Painter Tape Edge Lock”, it comes in different widths and different tackiness.

http://www.scotchblue.com.au/…/Resourc…/Edge-Lock-Protector/

So I purchased the Advanced Multi-Surface Tape as it comes in wider width. Not cheep $15 – $20 per roll
I wanted a solid shape that would fit inside the tape width so used the Feathers Edgelits (discontinued).

I decided to used Glossy paper (also discontinued) to make my mask on and put through the Big Shot. The Big Shot pressed the two together a bit firmer than I would have liked but nothing I could do about that. I hoped that because I used the gloss paper it would pull apart OK, it did stick and tear paper a little but with gentle perspiration I got them apart.

Once I had the mask made I attached to some Shimmery White, this card stock is great with water colouring.

So using the Aqua Painter and inks..this is what I came up with. It bled a little and didn’t give me the clean lines I was hoping for.

But that may have been I was too eager to take mask of.
Very pleased with out come.

IMAG0419

The center leaf was painted on another piece of card stock and then cut out with the Edgelits. I made the Gumnut using the Acorn Punch from the Seasonal Catalog and

is still available in the New Occasional Catalog.
