Catching Up and Family Traditions

This week has been about playing catch up with my scrapbooks using retired products from Stampin’ Up!.

The pages for 2008 were finished a while back but need to go back and finish the journalling. Do you know how hard it is to remember 10 years ago to what we were doing..

It really does pay off to scrap as you go through out the year…have to remember that if I go back in time this is what I would change..

Family Traditions..

When my boys were younger every Christmas I would drag them (Yes…drag..usually complaining all the way) to the local shopping center to have the “Photo with Santa”..

This photo was taken  in 2009 and I’m not sure if there are many more after this. Out of my 4 boys only 2 would make me happy and  have this done…

and how special are these moments.

Don’t leave your memories too long to get them into albums and jot down what its all about…Because before for you know it the years have gone and the memories start to fade.

All products used are retired from Stampin’ Up!

If you need any help in getting started I am happy to help..

Petal Passion Memories & More from Stampin’ Up!

The Best Ever…

The Petal Passion Suite from the Occasions Catalogue includes Memories & More Cards 145592 which are perfect for cards, tags and Scrapbook pages, to preserve your memories.

I have used the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper 145589 in my page design and then used one of the cards as part of the accent of the page.

Other accents used were created with the Petal Passion Stamp Set and Petals & More Thinlits Dies Bundle 145974

To create texture I used all the papers in the collection, with different widths and lengths. The black and white helps to enhance the photo’s and allows the colour to “POP”.

The pocket page I also added a piece of the Designer Series Paper along with a Journal Box sticker and some of the same accents used on the main page. Here I have also added another card from the pack to add the details from the day.

This was a beautiful day…we went to Canberra to visit our son. We meet for lunch and then he took us to the National Arboretum Canberra.

At the Arboretum they had an amazing display of Bonsai from such a verity of trees including Gum Trees.

Hope you have enjoyed my post…I must do more Scrapbook pages to share with you.

If you are interested in learning more about memory keeping I have a Memories and More Class on the last Friday of each month.

If you have any questions please contact me.

Whole Lot of Lovely from Stampin’ Up!

The other day I was going through some “STUFF”….you know that stuff that gets put into a pile and does get looked at again for a while.

I have lots of those “STUFF” piles…will this was something I found when my husband and I where emptying some boxes earlier this year. It was an envelope with some photo’s taken about 10 to 11 years ago of me and of one of my sons.

When Robert was a about 5yrs old he loved to act…mind you he can’t dance or sing but loved to act. He tried out and got into “OLIVER”……

Well about 18 months later a local acting group decided to put on “Beauty and the Beast” to raise money for a local charity. They were looking for people of all ages and Robert had the “Acting Bug”. So of we go and again he gets in……So this means I’m the one taking him to rehearsals ….short end of the story….they needed more singers, I was there every night so why not…I’m in!

It was so much fun and Robert and I had a great time……now usually I’m the one behind the camera taking the photo’s. But this time I was in front of the camera and this great photo was taken.

So I’ve been looking at this photo for about 2 weeks now wondering what am I going to do with it….

I had purchased the Whole Lot of Lovely Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up! and its a beautiful range of floral papers.

image showing Whole Lot of Lovely DSP

The layout for this page I found on Pinterest..

1e7048f810ec5c687a8e785afc226422

I think it worked out really well…

I didn’t use all the element in the sketch, just the main ones. I love how Stampin’ Up! have co-ordinated all of their papers –  Designer Series Paper with the Plain cardstock. And on the packaging of the DSP they have listed all the colour used…this makes it very easy to choose the correct cardstock.

How did I make the Flowers…

The flowers I punched out with the Pansy Punch and a smaller flower punch (discontinued) I rolled the flower up into a ball – this is done to break down the fibers in the cardstock. After a while you can see the cardstock separating into two layers, gently pull them apart. You are then left with a soft felt looking side which was the inside of the cardstock, this becomes the right side of the flower. Then with a small amount of Multi-purpose glue I put a small dot of glue in the center of the flower and place the another flower on top – off setting the petals. The same was done to the small flowers and one of these placed in the center. Again scrunch up all the petals and sponge with some ink to add colour / shading.

I hope you like my page…..Stampin’ Up! isn’t just about making cards. They also have great products for all your memorykeeping needs. Check out the “Memories and More” section of your catalogue.

If you need help just contact me I’d love to help you get started with Stampin’ Up!

Memories and More – Dad’s 80th

Hi and Welcome back to Butterflys and Bows!

I hope you have had a great weekend…here in Australia it was the Queen’s Birthday Long Weekend, so we have had a 3 day weekend.

More time to spend with family and friends, so I hope you had an enjoyable time.

This weekend I spent time having a play with some photo’s and Stampin’ Up! New products “Memories and More”

As of June 1st we have finished our association with Becky Higgins and Project Life.

Stampin’ Up! still have their own range of pocket pages and cards but they have been re-branded as Memories and More as there is so much you can do with them….and the best thing is the card ranges integrate with stamp sets and Designer series Papers. They all mix’n’match together……

On these pages of my Fathers 80th Bithday I have used Product from the Colour Therory Memories and More Card Pack and Colour Theory Designer Series Paper Stack. As I want a masculine pages I have used Guy Greetings stamps.

This was just a simple page to complete with the Memories and More Cards and a few extra elements.

Did you take lots of photos over Christmas and New Year?

Did you take lots of photos over Christmas and New Year?

Where are they now?
Are they sitting on your phone?

Did you know that this generation don’t have photo’s. We take them, we have them on our phones, we may even transfer them to our computer to share on Social Media. But then our phone die’s, its lost or stolen. The computer crashes or we accidentally deleat them.
Here’s what I do…..at the end of each day or week depending on how many photos I’ve taken . I take them off my phone and put them onto my computer, I then sort and store them into a file for that year which then contains a file for each month. As photos are taken I then put them into those files. That way at least I know what month they were taken. I get rid of any photo I don’t want and print up the best.
So now I have some printed copies and at the end of each month I save whats on my computer to my hard drive.
Now what to do with those printed photo’s?
That’s easy….they go into my Project Life or Memory Keeping album. By working on it bit by bit, its not so hard at the end of year trying to catch up, mind you I have lots of other years to catch up.
So what is a Project Life or Memory Keeping Album?

occ17_p045a
Its a pocket page album, where you slip photo’s into pockets and add decorated cards to fill empty pockets or add journaling cards. It’s simple and a lot of fun.
This year I have decided to make it the year of Memory Keeping and I would like you to join me in keeping all those wonderful memories alive.
I will be holding classes at my place on the last Friday of each month where I will help you, show you new products and have lots of fun along the way.
Check out my Facebook page for all my upcoming Classes and Events.

Hello December……Cont

Welcome again to my Blog.

Last week I started working on my Hello December 2016 project Life Album and sharing that with you.

Have you started yours yet?

In my blog last week I stated that “Today I started sorting my cards and planning where I’m going to place them…but I know this will change as I work my way through December.”

imag1761-1

It didn’t take long to start changing things, once I printed some photos. You have to stay flexible if you are doing your album this way…I am following a page plan that was shown to me by another Demonstrator. I like the look of the finished album but I think it would be by far easier to put in you photos first and then your cards as your are working with your photo’s rather against them. Doing it the way I’m doing I’m making the photos fit rather than finding a page that fits the photo.

The recommended steps to follow are.

  1. Place photos into pockets
  2. Put cards into pockets
  3. Journal
  4. Decorate with embellishments

But I’m going to keep going with what I have and see where this takes me.

Tip 3

I always work with “post it notes”…as events happen I write it down and stick to the page where its going. this way when you print your photos you know what page to put them

imag1758

Tip 4

Print your photos as you go…its a lot easier to remember what happened 2-3 days later than 4 weeks down the track.

Tip 5

Stay flexible to move Pocket pages around to suit photos
