Global Design Project 080 | Case the Designer

Hi and Welcome to Butterflys and Bow!

So happy to share that the card I did last week received a “Special Mention” on Global Design Project

SPECIAL MENTIONIMAG0129

This week the challenge from Global Design Project is “Case the Designer”

This week we are casing Louise Sharp.

GDP80

The Stamp set I am using for my card is “Sitting Here” 141589.

For almost a year I have had this stamp set but wasn’t sure what to do with it But today I knew exactly what i wanted and I love this layout of Louise’s.

I’ve kept it all very simple with the background paper from the Envelope Paper 2016 – 201814 In-colours, repeating the colour with the ribbon and bird.

IMAG0161

The image was stamped onto Crumb Cake card stock with Crumb Cake Stampin’ Pad and with the Blender Pen the colour blended in from the outline. Dapper Denim was used with the Blender Pen to add colour to the cushion the cat sits on. The Cat was coloured in with Cajun Craze Stampin’ Pad with a hint of blue for his eyes

Blue is my favorite colour and I have enjoyed making this card so much.

Thanks GDP for another great challenge.

Video Friday – Re-Inker Rainbows

Welcome again to Butterflys and Bow and to Video Friday!

Today I’d like to share with you a Video I saw last week and it looked so fun and different to anything I’d seen before. It also involved using Re-Inkers and I don’t use them very often.

It’s called”Re-Inker Rainbows” and the Video is by Kim Williams of “Stampin’ with Kjoyink”.

Kim states that this is a “Fun stamping technique using Stampin Up re-inkers and shimmery white Cardstock for a unique card background.”

Check out her Blog and YouTube Channel.

 Blog – http://www.stampinwithkjoyink.typepad.com/

YouTube – https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCPHkB8zs77SgQ3mXgp1tSVA

I love these cards and I had to give them ago myself, I love the simplicity of them and the uniqueness of them. i just wish I had all the colours that Kim used and it wasn’t until I finished playing that I relised Kim had used 5 colours and I had only used 4…..odd numbers are always best. But I am still happy with the way mine turned out.

These were so much fun to make …simple quick and very effective…so much so I ended up making about 8 of them and if I had more colours I don’t think I would have stopped.

These would be great for a Party or Class.

So id you are interested in having a Party or Class and you would like to give these fantastic cards a go call me and book a date!

The 2 Stamp sets I used were Layering love and Suite Sentiments.

Sending Smiles Across the Miles

Welcome to Butterflys and Bows!

Today I have been playing with a card idea….

Using “Lift Me Up” Stamp set and some watercolouring.

IMAG0138

  • For this card I stamped the Balloons onto a circle of watercolour paper with VersaMark and embossed with white embossing powder.
  • I sprayed the watercolour paper with water and then using an Aqua Painter, I painted the back ground with Soft Sky, Pool Party.
  • The large Balloon I used Peekaboo Peach and Calypso Coral
  • Smaller Balloon is in Sweet Sugar Plum.
  • Added more water to background and added more colour with Smoky Slate and Dapper Denim
  • Then while the background was still wet I added large salt crystals.

“Lift Me Up” can be found in the Occasions Catalogue.

This Stamp Set can also be purchased as part of a Bundle with the Up and Away Thinlits Dies with a 10% discount

Global Design Project 079 | Theme Challenge

Welcome to Butterflys and Bows.

Today I am taking part in the Global Design Project challenge and the theme is ….

“AMUSEMENT PARK”

There are so many aspects of Amusement Park……

For me its the local show, which was on last weekend.

I didn’t get to go as it rained all weekend and me and mud (clay) don’t mix. The last time I was at the show ground to go to the Circus I thought I was taking part of the entertainment and went flying through the air and fell flat on my face in the “Mud”……LOL, its funny now!

GDP79_Theme_Amusement_Park_PNG

But I did hear the noise from the show….the “Fireworks”

So I decided my card is going to have a Fireworks theme…..

OK, so how am I going to achieve this look….

of bursting colour against the night sky.

So last night I spent some time on YouTube University and found some videos on Joseph’s Coat Technique. I had seen this before but hadn’t got around to giving it ago.

So went to bed late but excited about what I came up with……

IMAG0131

There is a Tutorial with all measurements and products used along with a YouTube Video.

Which can be found above in the Tutorials and YouTube.

Hope you enjoy my Video…”Bloopers included”

What do I have coming up in my classes….

Hi! Hope you are all having a lovely day.

It has been raining here in Moss Vale Australia all week and it looks like it will be a wet weekend as well. Our local show is also on this weekend so I don’t think I will be getting down to that. Last time I went to the show ground to go to a Circus in the rain I went for a tumble falling flat on my face…not a pretty sight…LOL!

So I think I will be staying away!

Anyway what do I have coming up…next month I will be running a class on “Water colour Backgrounds” using some of the techniques I have been doing and posting about over the last few weeks.

watercolour

Dates : April 21, 2017

Booking required by April 10, 2017

More information about cost and what you require for the class will be found on Events page above.

Hope that if you live in Australia (Near to Southern Highland) you are able to attend.

Marbling Technique – Video Friday

Welcome to Video Friday!

Having a look through some videos by Stampin’ Up! and I have come across this one on “Marbling”

Have you ever tried this?

I haven’t …..so I thought why not have a go.

Now for this you need Shaving Foam NOT Shaving Gel….Thank you boys!

One of my sons had left a can so I didn’t have to wait until tomorrow and a visit to the shops.

So I chose 3 colour in the Re-Inkers..

Wild Wasabi

So Saffron

Wisteria Wonder

Sprayed some foam on to a container lid I had lying around dropped a few drops of each colour into the foam. I then ran a stick I had up, down and across ways per the video and laid the Thick Whisper White card stock on top. Press down lightly, then lift off. Scrape off excess foam and leave to dry.

I suggest letting it dry before rubbing off any left over foam as it may smudge when wiping.

IMAG0108

Later I will make a card from one of these and post it here….why don’t you give it ago I would love to see what you come up with..

Here’s the Video..
