Facebook Live Friday – Delicate Dahlias

Hi and welcome today to my Blog.

This week on my Facebook Live I showed how to created this stunning card using the Delicate Dahlias stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue and the Soft Pastels Assortment found in the Annual Catalogue. When you purchase $180 worth of product from the Mini or Annual Catalogue you can choose the Delicate Dahlias for FREE. ….Oh I love getting things for Free, don’t you?

The other main product I used on this card is the Soft Pastels Assortment. A beautiful set of 8 colours…Coastal Cabana, Daffodil Delight, Gorgeous Grape, Granny Apple Green, Mango Melody, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy and Poppy Parade.

Last week I watched a video by Tina Zinck showing how to use pastels. HERE is a link to her YouTube Channel. She has 4 videos on using the pastels and so far I have only watched ‘Part 4’. Hoping to catch up on the others later. But she explains everything really well. I hope you will find my video below just as helpful.

Daisy Garden – International Highlights Winners Hop

Hi and welcome today to my Blog.

To all you lovely people out there that Voted for me a ‘BIG….. THANK YOU’. Because of you and your Votes, today I am taking part in Kylie’s International Blog Highlights Winners Hop.

Daisy Garden

Daisy Garden by Stampin’ Up! ® is a beautiful large image of daisies…it can be used as a back ground or as a focal point on your card. There is so much detail to this stamp but is very easy to colour using Stanpin’ Blends, Watercolour Pencils or any other colouring technique.

Stampin' Up! Daisy Garden coloured with a range of Stampin' Blends

For this card I used the Stampin’ Blends to colour my image, I love colouring with my Blends because of how well they blend and how simple they are to use. The colours I used are – Old Olive Dark & Light, Balmy Blue Dark & Light, Misty Moonlight Light, Daffodil Delight Light, Mango Melody Dark(Deleated), Bronze.

Tips when using Stampin’ Blends

  • Use good quality smooth cardstock and the Basic White cardstock is my choice.
  • Only use water base inks to stamp your image – Memento Tuxedo Black is perfect.
  • Start with the light colour & then add your shading in the dark. After adding your dark colour go over it again with the light shade to blend the 2 colours. My daisies were coloured with the Light Balmy Blue, shading added with the dark Balmy Blue to about half the length of the petal. Misty Moonlight Light was added at the base of the petal then Light Balmy Blue added over the top of all colours to blend them together.
  • Always work in small areas at a time. The ink will blend better when the ink is still wet and dries very quickly. I worked on one flower head at a time.

Floating Strips Technique

Hi and welcome today to my Blog.

Today I have created another card using the Floating Strip Technique and used products by Stampin’ up! ®. This is a fun way to use up all those stripes we usually get thrown into the scrap bin.

You can cut your Window Sheet into any size or shape you want, just keep your shape simple simple e.g. square, rectangle, circle etc. The card I made for ‘Let Your Colours Shine’ I cut after gluing the strips onto the window sheet using Stitched Rectangle Dies, this was because I didn’t know what shape or size I was going to use at the time..LOL!

Below you will find my Facebook Live video showing how I made this card and the measurements used.

Let your Colours Shine

Hi and welcome to my Blog today..

Today I am taking part in the ‘Ink & Inspiration’ Blog Hop. So my friends, I hope you will enjoy the ride with me as we travel around the hop seeing what everyone has to show.

The Theme for this month is ‘Let your Colours Shine’.

This years new Stampin’ Up! ® In-Colours are beautiful and I love working with them. They work really well together as well as independently. For this card I have used a ‘Floating Strips Technique’ by cutting the 2021-23 In-Colours in strips. The strips were cut at angles and adhered to Window sheet and then die cut using the Stitched rectangle Dies.

Stampin' Up! - In-Colours, Butterfly Wings Dies, Stitched Rectangle Dies, Layering Circle Dies and Best Year Stamps

How to Make this Card…..

  • Card Base Basic Black – 10.5 x 29.9cm, scored 14.9xm
  • Card Mat Basic Black – 10 x 14.4cm, Embossed using the Tasteful Textile 3d Embossing Folder. Attach to the Card Base using Multi-Purpose Glue or Seal.
  • Circle Gold Metallic Specialty Paper – 10 x 10cm, cut with the largest circle die. Attach to the card front – it is not centered, placed slightly to the right of the card.
  • Window sheet – 10 x 14cm
  • Floating Strips of In-Colour Designer Series Paper – strips cut at different angles and at different sizes (width) adhered to the window sheet using Multi purpose Glue. Cut out two different size rectangles using the Stitched Rectangle Dies. Adhere the Foam Adhesive Strips on the back of the window sheet, hidden by the In-Colour DSP. Peel of the backing strips on Foam Strips and adhere to the card, one up & one down.
  • Butterfly Basic White – 11 x 9cm. Place Adhesive sheet to the back of the Basic White and die cut the larges Butterflies die from the Brilliant Wings Dies. Peel of the backing and adhere to the card on top of the Floating Strips. Double up two Mini Dimensionals and place under each of the bottom part of the butterfly wings.
  • Scrap Basic Black – 4 x7cm, Stamp the sentiment using VersaMark and heat emboss with white embossing Powder. Glue on to the butterfly using Multi-purpose Glue, this will also help to hide the dimensionals under the butterfly
  • Add some of the In-colour Jewels to the card Front.
  • Insert Basic White – stamp the coordinating sentiment in the right hand corner using Polished Pink Stampin’ Pad.

Batik Boutique – One Page Wonder

Hi and welcome today to my Blog.

Have you ever tried making your own Designer Series Paper or One Sheet Wonder…I have only given this a try a few times. I think these cards turned out really well.

I was inspired by a fellow stamper – Northern Stamper and a card she did using the Batik Boutique Stamps by Stampin’ Up! ® and a range of Blue Stampin’ Pads.

I decided to create this card as a One Sheet Wonder – just a basic one, where a sheet of A4 Basic White Cardstock is stamped to create your DSP and then cut into 4 to create 4 cards.

I only used 3 colours- Misty Moonlight, Balmy Blue and Pool Party for both the stamping and cardstock. But then added an extra ‘POP’ with the Gold and Rose Gold Metallic Specialty Paper.

Measurements Used..

  • Card Base Misty Moonlight – Portrait Card 10.5 x 29.9cm, scored at 14.9cm Or Landscape Card 14.9 x 21cm, scored at 10.5cm
  • Card Mat Balmy Blue or Pool Party – 10 x 14.4cm
  • Card Front DSP- 9.7 x 14.1cm
  • Circle Die cut – 7 x 7 cm cut with 5.5cm die (cut size of circle), then embossed with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder.
  • Metallic Specialty Paper – 1.5 x 9cm
  • Sentiment – Scrap of Basic White
  • Sentiment – scrap of Balmy Blue or Pool Party
  • Card Insert Basic White – 10 x14.4cm
