Enjoy the Little Things…Global Design Project 070 | Sketch Challenge

“Enjoy the Little Things”….

How often do we forget to “Enjoy the Little Things”,

we spend so much time worrying about all the different things that life throws at us that we forget to “Enjoy the Little Things”.

This week, Global Design Project has challenged us with a Sketch Challenge.

GDP070Funny things is …I started my card the day before the challenge came out.

IMAG2197a

Last week I did a water colour card using these same colours.

Blushing Bride, Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum, So Saffron, Tempting Turquoise and Peekaboo Peach.

This was a fun card to do and a simple card to do but I think very effective.

With this card I masked off the bottom section of the card and then sponged the colour blending them one into another.

A Bokeh effect was created by adding drops of water onto the sponged area and letting it dry, the water moving the colour to form lighter areas.

The sentiment was stamped with Basic Black – Archival Ink, this will with stand any water and not bleed. Splatters of ink was added with the same 6 colours used in the sponging.

This was done by watering the ink down with an Aqua Painter and tapping the Aqua Painter against another bush to form the splatters across the card front.

Just take care when doing this as the splatters will go everywhere and I mean everywhere.

Beautiful You – Global Design Project 069 | Colour Challenge

Talk about leaving things to the last minute…..today is the last day for this challenge. Luckily I knew what I wanted to achieve…

something simple and elegant.

I knew what stamp set I wanted to use but some of the components I needed I didn’t have.

Its amazing sometimes what you can come up with if time is running out…LOL, but its not something I recommend doing, can also be a bit stressful.

Welcome to the Global Design Project #GDP069 – Colour Challenge

GDP069“Here is our colour challenge this week the fun part is you get to choose one of the colours to add in.”

The stamp set I’m using is called “Beautiful You” by Stampin’ Up! and it is found in the 2017 Occasions Catalogue.

If you don’t have a copy and you live in Australia let me know and I will get one to you ASAP.

This set is becoming a favorite for many but as soon as I saw it I loved it and for many reasons.

  • Its beautiful
  • stylish
  • Simple
  • Fun
  • quotes are awesome and could be used on so many different cards

This list could go on and on……but for me one stamp meant more than to me than the others. It reminded me of a drawing I have and love.

It was done by Grandmother and it was done when my father would have been a child.

IMAG2194Pencil Drawing by Gladys May Harris (nee – Duncan)

“The cloche hat or simply cloche is a fitted, bell-shaped hat for women that was invented in 1908 by milliner Caroline Reboux,

especially became popular from about 1922 to 1933. Its name is derived from cloche, the French word for “bell”.”https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cloche_hat

A more in depth history on this hat can be found here – https://startupfashion.com/fashion-archives-history-cloche-hat/

So of course I card is of the elegant lady wearing a Closhe….“life looks beautiful on you” or on her!

The colours for this challenge are Delightful Dijon, Silver and one other of your choice. I just went with “Black” as I wanted to keep this looking very elegant, slightly formal and simple.

IMAG2193

This stamp is a simple “outline” stamp with another stamp that gives you a stylized wash for the dress.

I have added a  layer on the black of the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate using the silver side (gold on other side).

Very simple and easy to do, a stamp set I real recommending you getting..

Laying Love – Live Laugh Love…..

Mmmmm!….don’t these colours look beautiful together..there fun, fresh cool just like those iceblocks.

So the Live, Laugh, Love from the “Laying Love” really suited the Image and colours

This weeks challenge by Colour INKspiration is to make a card/project using at least 3 of these colours.

I couldn’t resist I had to use all of them.

IMAG2159a

I saw this technique on You Tube and really loved the effect it gave, so I thought OK, I can do this no problems. This is the result of my second attempt…

the first one straight into the bin and there went my last piece of Watercolour paper.

So after going to bed and sleeping on the idea…( do my best thinking in bed or in the shower ), I gave it another try.

I had to do it before getting showered and dressed this morning.

This card is what I came up with. With my first try I just layered my water and painted with watered down ink…NO!

But “NO” watercolour paper….next best thing is Shimmery White Cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment in VersaMark and embossed with Black Embossing Powder.

Using a small/fine paint brush I painted clean water where I wanted the first colour to go – Blushing Bride, working with one colour at a time.

I didn’t dilute the ink, I just painted it on and let the water already on the cardstock move it about and dilute it.

I did this right along ..one colour at a time…painting with clean water and then adding the colour.

I did go back and added more water and more colour where I wanted more depth of colour or movement.

I’m really pleased with the result.

But then how can you do this at home or in a class?

So out came “Gorgeous Grunge”

Still using all the same colours I stamped the largest “Splatter” stamp over lapping the colours a little.

Then with the Basic Black Ink I stamped the sentiment, the colours are bold and bright and still a lot of fun.

But I didn’t stop here…I then tried it again, this time “stamping off” some of the colour before stamping onto the cardstock, to give it a softer tone.

All of these cards where stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock, the last two cards could have been done with using the Whisper White Cardstock as there was no water involved.

Here are all three cards so you can compare them…Give it ago , I would love to see what you come up with.

Super Duper – CTC110

Here I go again another challenge, I think I’m becoming addicted to these…

But then who’s complaining?

I’m NOT! But my family maybe slightly…Opps!

This is the first challenge for 2017 – CTC110 -CASEing the Catty Challenge.

For this Challenge I had to take inspiration from pages 4-7 of the 2017 Occasions Catalogue Party Animals.

So here’s my Inspiration…

occ17_p06c

Now as yet I don’t have this great stamp set so I have used another from the Occasions Catalogue and here is my card.

imag2148

The white embossing really “POPS” on the Tangerine Tango.

This is a simple card to do and would be great to do at a Stampin’ Up! Party.

If this is card you would like to make then contact me and Book a Party!

Here is my card I have completed for both challenges.

I have kept this card very simple and clean. I love the freshness of the colours and simplicity of the card layout.

A great card for boy or girl…don’t you think.

imag2140

The image was stamped in Stampin’ Up! Archival Black Ink onto Shimmery White card stock.

Using a blender pen and the ink pads as my pallet I coloured in the image. I’m really pleased with how the windows turned out.

This was done with the Bermuda Bay Ink but used very lightly and leaving some white space as well.

I wanted to achieve a small amount of texture to the card and I did this by wrapping Bakers Twine around Bermuda Bay mat but kept it uniformed with no fuss.

I hope you like my card.

Did you take lots of photos over Christmas and New Year?

Did you take lots of photos over Christmas and New Year?

Where are they now?
Are they sitting on your phone?

Did you know that this generation don’t have photo’s. We take them, we have them on our phones, we may even transfer them to our computer to share on Social Media. But then our phone die’s, its lost or stolen. The computer crashes or we accidentally deleat them.
Here’s what I do…..at the end of each day or week depending on how many photos I’ve taken . I take them off my phone and put them onto my computer, I then sort and store them into a file for that year which then contains a file for each month. As photos are taken I then put them into those files. That way at least I know what month they were taken. I get rid of any photo I don’t want and print up the best.
So now I have some printed copies and at the end of each month I save whats on my computer to my hard drive.
Now what to do with those printed photo’s?
That’s easy….they go into my Project Life or Memory Keeping album. By working on it bit by bit, its not so hard at the end of year trying to catch up, mind you I have lots of other years to catch up.
So what is a Project Life or Memory Keeping Album?

occ17_p045a
Its a pocket page album, where you slip photo’s into pockets and add decorated cards to fill empty pockets or add journaling cards. It’s simple and a lot of fun.
This year I have decided to make it the year of Memory Keeping and I would like you to join me in keeping all those wonderful memories alive.
I will be holding classes at my place on the last Friday of each month where I will help you, show you new products and have lots of fun along the way.
Check out my Facebook page for all my upcoming Classes and Events.

2017 Calendar – Part 1

aframe7a

The other day on Facebook some of my friends were discussing Calendars and the different ways to make them. As I haven’t made one for myself so far I decided well why not know!

It’s the beginning of a new year and a new calendar is needed.

The idea for this A-Frame stand came from a Class I taught at my local Church many years ago, where we made a stand to hold some wonderful Bible Verses.

daily-thoughts

Now this is only Part 1 as all I have done so far is make the stand and write up a tutorial.

Actually its more like a “Pictorial” as there are more photos and not much writing. But I hope I have explained it well enough for you.

The Tutorial only covers the making of the A-frame Stand and Part 2 will cover the Calendar, which will be available in coming days. I also didn’t go into decorating the stand, that I will leave up to you. But i have listed below some of the items used. Not all of these items are listed in the PDF.

Click on the Link a-frame-stand-and-calander-part-1 for PDF or you can find in my Tutorials.

I hope you enjoy the PDF and that you will join me for Part 2.
