Tune In

Our theme this month for the Let’s Craft Together Blog Hop is a ‘Theme – Card or Scrapbook page for the Men’, and for this challenge I am using the Tune In Bundle by Stampin’ Up!®.

I have tried to give this card a ‘Retro Feel’, using the Tune In Bundle, which is all about the Retro Television.

I created a fun background for my card with the Nest Essential Dies, change the colours used and it could be for anyone. Rectangles were cut from Basic Gray cardstock and adhered in a stacked pattern to a Basic Black Base.

Smaller Basic White frames overlapping create that retro look. These were made by using 2 smaller rectangles nested one inside the other and run through the Mini Cut and Emboss Machine.

The Glossy Television reminds me of the small white shinny TV my parents had back in the 60’s. To created this effect I filled in the outer section of the stamped image with a Fine-Tip Glue Pen. Let it dry for an hour or two before die cutting it out.

The television antenna was die cut from Silver Foil, which I had adhered Adhesive Sheet to the back before cutting.

The card insert I used off cuts from the Basic Gray rectangles and adhered onto a Real Red strip.

I just love all the ‘POPS’ of red!

Top Cat- Paper Piecing

This was so much fun, if you like doing something different. I created a page using Paper Piecing to compliment my photos using Stampin’ Up! ® Products

Going through all my photo’s I came across these of my 2 eldest boys all dressed up for School Mufti Day. The theme was to go dressed up as a cartoon character. Aaron wanted to go as Batman and Hayden as Top Cat. Top Cat wasn’t a cartoon that was on TV but Joe and I grew up with Top Cat and we had introduced the boys to this cartoon show. Hayden really loved the story and fun of Top Cat, Benny and Officer Dibble…so he had to be TC-Top Cat.

Over the last few days I have been playing with Paper Piecing….What is Paper piecing? Simply, Paper piecing is where you take an image and break it into sections e.g colour or Top Cat’s body and vest. Cutting out each layer in coloured cardstock or Designer Series Paper and then putting all those individual parts together to form your image.

How I created my page…

Paper Piecing

To create my paper piecing images

  • I down loaded images from the internet and printed them to the finished size I wanted.
  • Traced off each section onto tracing paper or you can cut your printed image up and use as a pattern. I used a mixture of both to get the details in the face and hands.
  • Using a Stylus trace each section onto cardstock, this will leave an indentation (score line) on the cardstock. Go over this lightly with a pencil.
  • With either scissors or craft knife cut each piece out. I like to leave a tab or extension piece. For example I extended the neck up so that I could attach the head, extend the tail to attach under the body. The feet to the neck is one piece. Where as the arms, tail and head are separate
  • Trace off any features you want with stylus and pencil in, these were later drawn in with a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker
  • I like to piece mine together as a separate piece to my page, that way I can move it around to where I want it
  • To give a cartoon effect I went around everything with the Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker

Photo

Photos I just kept simple by just matting with Basic White

Layout

For my layout I created a scene.

The scene was broken up into 3 parts with strips of Black added around the edges to create a boarder.

Sky – Basic White Cardstock.

  • Using a mask from a Discontinued Die- Basic Boarders, I created clouds with a blending brush and Balmy Blue Stampin’ Pad. The mask I had used before and some of the previous ink transferred to the Basic White with the Balmy Blue and gave a great effect…even if not planned.
  • I did do Light Beam lines to the Batman Logo but they got a bit lost…opps!

Fence – Pebble Path

  • For the fence and then created palings by cutting strips of Pebble Path cut slightly longer
  • Using the wood grain stamp from Country Birdhouse Stamps stamp each paling
  • Each paling was brushed with ink, Pebble Path Stampin’ Pad to add an uneven texture.

Ground– Granny Apple Green

  • To add texture to the ground I die cut grass and leaves using the Fluffiest Friends Dies and Granny Apple Green and Old Olive Cardstock.
  • These were added around bottom of fence line and scattered around.

Journaling

I used the alphabet dies – Alphabet a la Mode to create the title ‘Mufti Day’ with just a little bit of hand written journaling.

Thoughtful Journey

My 60th Birthday Flowers

I am really enjoying getting back into scrapbooking, as this is where my real passion lies.

Last year I celebrated my 60th Birthday and I received 2 beautiful big bunches of flowers from my parents and from my sister, Lynette in the UK. I took lots of photos but here are the 2 I decided to work with.

Template Tuesday,Live with Michele….

I am creating a scrapbook layout using the Thoughtful Journey Suite Collection by Stampin’ Up!®. The Thoughtful Designs 12 x12″ Specialty Designer Series Paper works so well against the flowers. The pack contains 5 ‘Ombre’ papers with a shimmery leaf design all over. The sheet I used goes from a Calypso Coral to Petunia Pop, and picks up the tones in my photo’s. I also used a sheet of the Thoughtful Journey 6 x 6″ Designer Series Paper for my journaling. The colours with a little bit of Pretty Peacock pulls everything together.

The flowers used are from the Simply Zinnia Bundle and were coloured using Stampin Up!® Blends – Bubble Bath & Petunia Pop, Pretty Pink & Calypso Coral. I thought they worked well with the flowers in my photots.

Template Tuesday

For this layout I used a template found of Pinterest. This is a great way to get started in scrapbooking. Using your photos as a guide you can pull out the papers that works with your layout. Templates are a great starting point and you can easily make it your own by either turning the layout around or changing photo sizes, adding your own elements etc.

Country Flowers

Our theme this month for the Let’s Craft Together Blog Hop is a ‘Tic Tac Toe Challenge’ by Carolina and I am using the Country Flowers Bundle by Stampin’ Up!®. This Bundle is part of the Country Woods Suite Collection and I used sentiments from the Country Birdhouse Stamp set.

3D Project

My 3D Project is a Diorama Card.

What is a Diorama Card – it is a 3D scene created inside a box.

The window box I created is deep and my layers are sitting on the back with layers built up with dimensionals. Possibly, if I was to make this again I might make my Box not as deep and added some of the flowers onto the back of the window. As this was I the first time I have made one of these card I am very happy with it.

The sides of the card pushes inwards, so the card can lay flat and fit in an envelope.

The back has a panel added to write your greetings on.

Die Cut Shape

I didn’t use a regular shape as a circle or square, instead I stamped, coloured and Die cut my images with the coordinating dies. So maybe a not technically correct a shape but they are DIE CUTS

Images were stamped using Pebble Path Ink Pad and coloured with Stampin’ Blends

Embossing

I created a frame on the front of my box and Embossed that with one of the Basics 3D Embossing Folders found in the Online Exclusives. I also created a panel for the inside back wall of my box which I also Embossed with the same folder, to give a textured background.

Full of Life

Let’s Create a Scrapbook Page

Many years ago I did a lot of scrapbooking…But over the years I have done less and less. I have a huge amount of photos on my computer and printed. So not long ago I thought I might get back to it and start creating pages filled with love.

On Friday’s ‘Live with Michele’ I created this scrapbook page using the Full of Life Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up!® as my starting point and it worked really well with this photo I found of me and my eldest son, Aaron when he was 4 weeks old. (in the video I thought he was a little younger).

I have kept my journaling simple and in point form….as long as you have the Who, Where and Why. I always say ‘imagine someone is asking you questions about the photo or photo’s, then that is what you want to put down. You could also add Dates, I didn’t do this but I have given Aaron’s age and said it was in Autumn. I have other photos taken at the same time and when I scrap them then more details will be added.

There are 3 types of Journaling

  1. Bullet/Point – Just give the information in point form, Who, Where and Why.
  2. Captions – Has a bit more information that Bullet or Point, with a bit more explanation to what is happening in your images.
  3. Story Telling – Telling a lengthy story of the event, this is leaving nothing out giving all the details. It could be a poem that is relevant to your image/images

Don’t be scared of Journalling, it can be at what ever level you feel comfortable with..just enjoy the process. At the end of the day it all boils down to Who, Where and Why.

Thank you for stopping by and reading my Blog. I hope you have enjoyed my projects & that you’re inspired to get crafty!

Full of Life – Template Tuesday

I’m trying to catch up a bit with my Blogging…..last week on my Tuesday Live, now called Template Tuesday. I created this card using the Ful of Life Bundle by Stampin’ Up!®. I LOVE all the beautiful bright colours.

Template

I have kept the template very simple as I wanted the paper to shine on this card.

I used Vellum as my white layer, unfortunately Stampin’ Up!® don’t have vellum anymore. But I felt the thin layers of the dies just got a little lost in the colourful background.

Mediterranean Blooms in Paper Tole

On my Live with Michele on Tuesday night I created this card using the Stampin’ Up! Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper from the current 2024-25 Annual Catalogue. The technique used in creating this card is called Paper Toil.

What is a Paper Tole?

Paper Tole (Three dimensional decoupage) is the fascinating art of making realistic three dimensional pictures from a number of flat artist’s prints. The effect is achieved by cutting, shaping and reassembling the paper pieces to give a three dimensional image.

3-4 DSP Images to cut into layers for the Paper Toil

How too…

The video below goes through all the steps I used.

TIP: If you are wanting to coat the back of the DSP for extra strength and don’t have Modge Podge, then what you can do as Tombow Multi – Purpose Glue is acid free is to water it down and with a foam brush paint it on. Let dry completely before cutting.

Layers of Beauty

Our theme this month for the Let’s Craft Together Blog Hop is a ‘Rustic Challenge’ by Mandy and I am using the Layers Of Beauty Bundle by Stampin’ Up!®. This Bundle can be found on page 57 of the 2025-25 Annual Catalogue.

The Layers of Beauty Bundle is stunning, it combines the versatility of stamps, dies, and masks in a single package. This is the third such bundle released by Stampin’ Up! Its charm lies in the technique of coloring: by applying the same color across 1,2,3 (flowers) and then 4 & 5(leaves) layers, one can achieve a stunning gradient of tones. This method does not just enhance the visual appeal—it completely transforms it.

I created this card in almost sepia tones with just a hint of blue from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper. Card Base is Crumb Cake with the NEW Basic Beige as the card front. The Inks used are Basic Beige, Crumb Cake and Early Espresso.

Layers Of Beauty Bundle created in almost sepia tones.

How to make this card…

I have made a card using the Layers of Beauty previously on a Live. To see how the masks work I would suggest you watch this video, YouTube -Layers of Beauty

  • Card Base
    • The Crumb Cake Card Base I also stamped the flower image with Crumb Cake ink and added Early Espresso ink around all the edges.
  • Card Front
    • For this card I stamped the image onto a Basic Beige card front with Crumb Cake Ink.
    • The layers 1 & 2 I used Basic Beige Ink and layer 3 I used Crumb Cake Ink.
    • One corner of the card front was torn away and all the edges I then distressed them foe an aged effect.
    • I then went around all the edges with Crumb Cake Ink and Early Espresso Ink with a blending brush.
    • Splatters of Early Espresso mixed with Wink of Stella was added to the card front.
    • Add dimensionals to the back and attach to card base.
  • Die Cut Leaves
    • Leaves from the bundle were cut from Basic Beige using the larger dies.
    • Added Early Espresso Ink to the leaves with a blending brush
    • Blue leaves were cut from the Country Woods designer series paper.
  • Linen Thread Bow
    • I created a Quadruple Bow from Linen thread and with a glue dot tucked it under the card front. Leaving the tails long so the tags could be tied on later.
  • Leaf Dies
    • The leaf dies were then added in and around the bow, coming from under the card front.
  • Tag
    • Stamped small floral image onto Basic beige using Crumb Cake Ink
    • Stamped sentiment in Early Espresso Ink over the floral image.
    • Die cut using the tag die and a second tag from the Country Woods Designer Series paper
    • Adhered the two tags together with a glue dot and threaded the tails from the bow through the hole and ties off with a smaller bow. Pop a glue dot under the tags to hold them in place.
  • Card Insert
    • I use Basic Beige for the insert
    • A strip of Country Woods DSP was added to the bottom edge of the insert.
    • Early Espresso Ink was brushed around all the edges before adhering into the card.

Rustic design is a style that’s natural, aged, organic, and maybe even a little distressed. Design styles like farmhouse, Tuscan, or coastal can also be described as rustic. Regardless of the variation, rustic style highlights rugged, natural beauty.

Chain Card Swap Blog Hop – Tracy

Back in October 2023 I joined a group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators to take part in a ‘Card swap with a Twist – Chain card Swap.

How does this work?

The swap is similar to an old fashioned chain letter or I would say…”Chinese Whispers with Cards’

  • We were given a list of names – 11 in total (not including myself)
  • Create a simple card
  • Send to first person on the list
  • Wait to receive a card from someone…
  • ‘CASE’ that card and send it to the 2nd person on your list
  • Repeat until all people on the list has received a card

Now this is the fun part….When you CASE the card you received, it’s your interpretation of the received card. Just like ‘Chinese Whispers’ you may not end up with what you originally designed

Round 11 Stippled Roses

This fun fold card is a Twisted Fun Fold…which I had never done this fold until now.

For this card I used the Stippled Roses Bundle and the Stippled Roses Designer Series Paper which was available in the last Sale-A-Bration. The Stippled Roses Stamps Bundle is in the current Jan- April Mini Catalogue and will still be available in the up coming catalogue but not as a bundle. So get it now to get the 10% discount on bundles

Stippled Roses is a very traditional rose design and the leaf dies are stunning with the embossed details within the die. Other dies in this bundle are fine and delicate which I love using with other stamp and die sets.

The other sentiments in the stamps are a stunning ‘Script Fonts’ with a beautiful old world charm, they can be used for Mothers Day, Congratulations and Thank you.

Were to Start…Start this hop at Tracy so you get the progression

Follow the Hop around and see how these creations changed from start to finish…you might be surprised to see how these cards finished up!
