Rose Garden from Stampin’ Up!

Hi, thanks for joining me this week for another challenge by Global Design Project #096

The challenge they have given us is a “CASE the Designer”…..

The designer we are CASing is Tanja Kolar and her beautiful card below.

GDP096

When CASing a project we can take any element we like from the card or use all of them.

I really like the layout that Tanja has used so will be keeping to the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies and adding the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies by Stampin’ Up!.

This is a simple card and has very little stamping.

image showing Stampin Up Rose Garden Thinlits

How to make this Card……
  • In Whisper White cardstock I have cut my card base 21 x 14.5 cm and scored at 10.5cm – fold along score line
  • Also in Whisper White cut the 2 largest squares from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies
  • In Blushing Bride I cut the mat at 9.8 x 13.7cm and attached to front of card with Multi-purpose glue
  • From a small piece of Blushing Bride cardstock cut the small Rose from the Rose Garden Thinlits Dies.
  • Using the larger Rose dye cut out one set of leaf section only in Pear Pizzazz.
  • The sentiment comes from the Watercolour Wings stamp set and is stamped in Basic Black. the easiest way to do this is to lay the bottom stitched square where it is going to go and then stamp the sentiment.
  • At this point I glued the bottom square down and also glued down the leaf…I only added glue on the bottom part of leaf as this will be covered by the top square
  • Add dimensionals to back of smaller square and adhere on top
  • I placed a glue dot under the Rose folding the dot so it is hidden and looped the Cooper thread a few times around the back. With a couple of dots of Multi-purpose glue to the back of the rose add to the top square.

Its done! A simple card but WOW! I think it looks great….

Now all the products I have used you can purchase from my shop and will be listed below. just click on the item your interested in and it will take you to my SHOP

How to Create your own Mask to use with Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste….

Hi and welcome to Butterflys and Bows…

Its time for another challenge by Global Design Project #GDP094 and they have given us this week a sketch to inspire us….

If you haven’t had chance as yet to see the challenge and what the Design Team have created then go and have a look HERE

02 GDPD094

A week  or so ago I shared with you a video by Stampin’ Up! highlighting a new product Embossing Paste and the tools required.

All these products can be purchased through my shop by clicking on the pictures below

At last my delivery arrived and in my delivery was the Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste and tools…so when I saw what the challenge from Global Design Project

I new what I wanted to do..

IMAG0874

The background for this card was created with Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste and I made my own mask..

Other products I used where Stampin’ Up! Rose Garden Thinlits and sentiment is made from the Stampin’ Up! Thoughtful Banners Stamp Set.

How to Create your own Mask to use with Stampin’ Up! Embossing Paste….

  • I created a mask for my card from a piece of Stampin’ Up! Window Sheet…HINT- Make sure it is larger than the card you are working on, mine was smaller and I got paste onto the outer edges of cardstock. Thankfully I was trimming it down to fit.
  • On my grid paper I drew up the mask I wanted to create, the areas blocked out are the areas I want to cut and remove. Place the window sheet over the top and adhered down with washi tapeimage showing Mask to be cut
  • With a craft knife and metal ruler I cut away the areas not required…there is a self healing mat under my grid paper. If I was cutting curves I would have a glass mat to allow for movement and slip and I would have drawn the image onto window sheet with a permanent marker before cutting.

image showing craft knife

  • Remove window sheet from grid paper and its ready to use.

image showing cut window sheet

  • Place your mask over your cardstock and fix into place with Washi Tape and apply Embossing Paste

image showing Embossing Paste

*Clean your Mask and tools straight away before Embossing Paste dries as it will not remove once dry.

To complete the card I cut the leaves in Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and 2 small flowers in Berry Burst from the Rose Garden Thinlits. I layered the Leaf and one of the flowers on top of the other and adhered to card front. The sentiment is two stamps..I Love You & So Much – I lined these up together on the block and used Basic Black Ink to Stamp onto the vellum. I made the length of the vellum longer than card front so I could wrap around to back of the card and adhered with a small amount of Multi Purpose Glue. The second flower was then adhere to the vellum – hiding any glue used on the vellum underneath. The Berry Burst Mat was attached to the card base and the card front raised up above with Stampin’ Up! Dimensionals.

Hope you like my card and if you are wanting any of the products used here are all the links back to my store, any questions please contact me.

Have a wonderful day…and Keep on Stampin’

Video Friday – What to do with old Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper..

Hi, How are your School Holiday’s going?

This week I have done nothing …well it seems like it!

I haven’t been able to Blog all week…why! Running around for the kids and for the husband as well…..and..

I have been working on “Photo Albums”……

Making the actual albums, using up discontinued Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Papers and chipboard and making them into albums..

I have made 2 this week.

The first one a simple album as this was the first I’d ever made and I had these photo’s I had taken from old photos my Dad had from when he and Mum were dating.

For this album I need a few sheets of DSP and cardstock…

http://https://youtu.be/2wnA3I40J3o

And the second one became bigger than Ben-Hur!

 I decided to do a 18 x 18 cm (7 x 7 “) album and I only had A4 paper…not a good move.

You need 30 x 30cm cardstock to make your life easier…anyway kept on working on it. Found some YouTube Tutorials on it and just kept playing…

Hope you enjoy these videos…of my playing around with paper week!

Awesomely Artistic

Hi and welcome to Butterflys and Bows

This week I have been asked to make a card to send to a family in our church……

I needed a card that would suit the male members of this family but then not leave out the women either.

So I decided to do something a little rustic but still soft and I hope soothing as well.

The stamp set I am using by Stampin’ Up! is Awesomely Artistic. It s a great set that allows you to add layers in stamps not so much as layers in paper.

The detail in these stamps are beautiful and has that old rustic charm.

You can purchase Awesomely Artistic HERE

IMAG0840

10 simple steps to create your own card using Awesomely Artistic Stamps by Stampin’ Up!
  • For the card and card front I used Crumb Cake Card stock, cut at  Base- 14.5 x 29 cm and card front – 9.5 x 13.5 cm
  • Using Crumb Cake Stampin’ Pad I stamped the linen image a couple of times on the top and bottom of the card base.
  • The floral Image I stamped in Early Espresso.
  • Using Watercolor pencils by Stampin’ Up! I coloured the flowers in Whisper White and then added Calypso Coral in the center of the petals. With a touch of Daffodil Delight as the flower centers. The leaves were coloured with Old Olive. There is NO blending, just simply colouring in.
  • The fern leaves I stamped with the Old Olive Stampin’ Pad.
  • I highlighted the fern and flowers using a white gel pen
  • On a scrap of Crumb Cake cardstock I stamped the circle flower image in Calypso Coral and also highlighted with the white gel pen. Cut out with a 1.5 cm Circle Punch.
  • With a few wrapes of Stampin’ Up! Linen Thread and the floral circle attached on top with a dimensionals
  • The edges of both the card and the card front was lightly sponged with Crumb Cake using the Stampin’ Pad and sponge.
  • Add a few dimensionals to the back and mount onto the card
If you have any questions please contact me.

Swirly Scribbles from Stampin’ Up!

Good Morning and welcome to Butterflys and Bows…

This weeks challenge by the Global Design Challenge team is a Colour Challenge GDP#093 and the colours we are playing with are ……

GDP093_Colour_ChallengeWho’s loving these new In-Colours by Stampin’ Up!?….I am.

Lemon Lime Twist and Berry Burst from the new In-Colours teamed with Pool Party from the Subtle Collection….WOW! What a great combo..

The Pool Party adds a sense of Ahhhh! to this combination, that little bit of calm with those 2 great vibrant colours.

I love the FUN these colours bring out..they remind me of hot summers at the beach or at the pool, or a garden in full bloom and the feelings of laughter and playfulness.

So I wanted to follow through with this and used the Stampin’ Up! Swirly Scribbles Thinlits Dies and lots of layers of colour.

IMAG0831

I love the Swirly Scribbles and how they can be layered or entwined like I have done here.

I have also added a layer of the Berry Burst crackle paper from  Color Theory Designer Series Paper Stack by Stampin’ Up!

The sentiment used comes from Watercolor Wings Stamp Set.

If you wish to give this card a go, here are all the measurements I used.

How to make my Swirly Scribbles Card……

Capturemm

Method-

  1. Cut the Swirly Scribbles from the Berry Burst (9 x 9), Lemon Lime Twist (7 x 7), Pool Party (6 x 6)
  2. Stamp sentiment on Whisper White and flag the right hand side using Basic Black Archival Ink.
  3. Fold along score line on card Base and adhere Lemon Lime Twist Matt.
  4. Adhere the crackle paper mat to Pool Party mat (this is not adhered to the Lemon Lime twist as yet), I use Multi Purpose glue for this as it allows time to get the paper in the right place.
  5. Entwine the Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist Swirls and adhere to top of card also attach tag, slipping it over and under swirls.
  6. Adhere Pool Party swirl to center Berry Burst swirl
  7. Add Dimensionals to Pool Party mat and adhere to Lemon Lime Twist Matt
  8. Adhere Whisper What Matt to the inside of the card.

Now if you are wanting to Purchase any of these items to make this card then here is a link to these products at My Store…

Global Design Project 092 | Case the Designer

Welcome to Butterflys and Bows!

I hope you are having a lovely day, its a bit cool here in the beautiful Southern Highlands of NSW. So I have stayed inside and worked on another card to share with you.

Its another card for the Global Design Project #092- Case the Designer…

Please make sure you go and have a look at last weeks winners…..HERE

GDP092_SteffiThis week we are CASEing the talented Steffi Helmschrott.

CASE = Copy And Selectively Edit

IMAG0818a

I love the Watercolor Wings and this is probably only the second time I have used it.

The colours I have used are Smoky Slate, Powder Pink and Soft Sky….love for beautiful it has turned out.

The Smoky Slate I stamped off once before stamping onto the Shimmery White Cardstock as I wanted it to be very subtle. The body I stamped in full strength.

The sentiment came from the stamp set “Sitting Here”

I have added a layer under the card front from Fresh Florals in the Powder Pink.

Hope you like this weeks card.

Sympathy Cards…Do you find them hard to make?

Sympathy Cards…not the easiest cards to make. Why, because they are full of emotions.

Hi and welcome to Butterflys and Bows….over this past week I have been struggling making cards for friends that have lost family members.

Making cards for family’s that are grieving is so fully of emotion, it can bring up memories and feelings of when you may have lost someone. When I make these cards I’m looking for a sense of calm, gentleness and most of all “Love and Understanding”.

You want the person who is receiving the card to feel you truly care for them.

I try to keep the cards I make to a simple and elegant design with soft and using gentle colours, not over the top or too busy.

IMAG0696

This card I used the Colorful Seasons Bundle 145348 and the sentiment is from Flourishing Phrases 141534

Video Friday – Glossy Paper-Alcohol Ink Blending

Hi and Welcome to another Video Friday!

On Tuesday I was having my usual Facebook fix when I came upon this great card by Maria Willis.

blogger-image--196932548I love the vibrant colours that she has used, it just brought this big smile across my face. I had to find out more about how Maria had achieved this card, so followed the links to here Blog –

“Cardbomb”. Please go and check it out….this one is now on my “Favorite Blogs” list…..

So Click HERE

or here is the link http://cardbomb.blogspot.com.au/2017/06/creating-kindness-blog-hop-new-catalog.html

This card was created as part of a Blog Hop for Creating Kindness (around the world) International Design Team.

Maria says “If I had to describe my stamping style in one word… I think I would choose, “Techniques.” I absolutely love to experiment with Stampin’ Up! products and I love to try new techniques.”

Maria’s blog sounds like one I’m going to be visiting on a regular bases.

So I had to give this a try……

IMAG0734

As you can see it was a bit messy….and Maria does say at one point that if you don’t want to spray everything with ink cover it up….I should have listened to that part. LOL….

I have ink everywhere including ME!

But it was so much fun …I kept on going…I think I ended up with about 8 pieces…some good and some are just ready for the bin.

BUT…don’t be too quick to throw in the trash as once its dry and when you trim down ..you may end up with something pretty amazing.

The card stock used is the NEW Glossy White Cardstock 144241 and I cut the sheet into quarters.

To get the beautiful, bright and vibrant colours on the Glossy White Cardstock, Maria mixed rubbing alcohol with Stampin’ Up! Ink refills. This also gave some wonderful blending effects as well.

Maria goes through a couple of different techniques and I’m sure like me you can’t wait to get hold of some Rubbing Alcohol and have a go yourself..

Well here’s how my card turned out…

a

I think it looks good …don’t you?

So here’s the video…enjoy, can’t wait to see what you end up with.
